Crime Scene Cleaner - A Viscera Cleanup Detail meets House Flipper RPG

Released in 2024 and recently added to Game Pass, I didn't see a thread dedicated to this game. Guessing it doesn't line up with GAF's gamer psychographic. Anyway, I wanted to do some unpaid promotion because it caught me by surprise how zen, unique, and well-executed it is.

From Steam, where it has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating with 20,000 reviews:
Once you get tangled with the mob, you will forever be a part of the mob. At least they pay a decent salary and all you have to do is clean up after their dirty work, but you know what you're doing. So clean crime scenes, earn as much money as you can, and get ready for the next mission.

With a compelling plot to motivate through its ~10 levels, with each taking about an hour to complete, this game takes a unique idea and executes on it as well as could be hoped for. Add order to chaos: pickup trash, put furniture back into place, clean up...stains, and lay people to rest. Part immersive sim, there are also environmental secrets to uncover in each level as well as the inherent puzzle of being as efficient as possible.

Level up your janitorial skills with the money you earn to make the next mission go even faster.

Missions are well-paced and varied: you'll clean up a small run-down apartment to get the basics; an entire house where a filial murder-suicide took place; an entire Art Museum where the rich and powerful went all Hunger Games, and more.

Did anyone else play this?

Haven't played it myself, but it looks very solid going by the trailer. I assume all those positive reviews are onto something.

Yup, I played it and have it 100% on Steam.

It was one of the 100% that I had the most fun with, the missions are great, the secrets are great, it's story is great, and it's very chill to play. I'd recommend it.

I played it but got maybe about half-way. Obviously they need to give you lots of stuff to clean, but it doesn't make sense at a lot of the places. It'll be a scene where three people got shot in different rooms and the whole place looks like a MASSACRE, literally blood up and down every single wall in every room. Kinda breaks the immersion of it a bit.

Haven't played it, but I put in full work days in Viscera Cleanup Detail.
Good game, sadly the devs did the game with eye-rolling irony and made it far too complex and time consuming.

Only the first two levels so far. I enjoyed it. Gave me power wash simulator vibes.

Unfortunately oblivion and expedition 33 have pulled me away from it but I'd like to go back after those.

Gave me power wash simulator vibes.

I 100%'ed the main campaign of PowerWash Simulator and regretted it almost immediately. I'm not sure what dopamine reactors it triggers, but it got its' hooks into me even though I'd never describe it as fun. At least I know to stay away form these games now. haha

Yeah, I too 100%'d it. Before playing it I laughed at the idea, but it's got something in it for sure.

I played the 1st level. Its fun. A much more in depth Powerwash Simulator.

I actually can't find the key in that garden room lol. Need to look it up. I checked everything.

I plan on slowly chipping away at it.
