It's a crime Star Wars Battlefront 3 isn't on its way

So it seems like Battlefront 2 is having a little resurgence and rightly so, the game was fixed up nicely back around release after the backlash. But even to this day when I play it it's hard to believe this was 2017 as I think it not only plays so good it looks pretty damn awesome still, the sound effects are on point everything.

I absolutely loved the older battlefront games but the last 2 modern releases I played hundreds of hours.

Dice makes a good game when they want, It still pains me that BF3 isn't out or coming, is it just me or wouldn't a proper new release just print money? Despite how in the shitter star wars is, the games still seem to do well when done correctly... I thjnk it would've landed especially if they just released it without the bullshit BF2 had.

Anyways with how good the new battlefield felt in my alpha experience it had me thinking about how badly I want a new battlefront and how I think it's a completely missed opportunity, Dice really makes a good feeling shooter all around.

Why, oh why, is everybody suddenly talking about and playing Battlefront 2 all of a sudden? Did it get a 60 fps patch or something?

I think Andor re-juiced the franchise. My friends and I tried it again because we all already owned it. The game is absolutely great and still looks fantastic, much more fun than anything these days. HOWEVER the EA app on PC is somehow infinitely worse than Origin ever was. We had to remove the overlay to get our mouses to work in the game, and then to invite each other only 1 person can be in the game so that the others can see the invite outside of the game. LOL fucking EA.

One positive is it'll be a bigger jump if they eventually do it on ps6.

They should remaster BF2 for PS5/6 in the meantime.

I was wondering the same thing

Why did peoples undust the game suddenly? Feels like a psy-ops for EA to announce in coming months the sequel so peoples lose their shit.

Last Known Good Configuration of SW
Andor, like Hari Seldon Hari Seldon said.

Just goes to show the strength of a good TV show.

Yeah it's a shame.
The terrible launch sort of killed the whole momentum for Battlefront 2, but overall it was a very fun game.
That said I don't have much faith a modern iteration would be that great. They'd probably try to turn it into a battle royale and it would run on a "next gen" version of the engine that somehow doesn't look much better but runs like absolute shit.

It was always 60, even on consoles.
I think the whole "May the 4th" + a new season of Andor just had people in the mood for some Star Wars.
And I think it's not unreasonable to guess that a lot of people that went back to it realized it's a pretty fun game once you remove it from all the launch drama. Not to mention it provides something we don't seem to be getting much these days with more classic game modes and big chaotic battles in a setting that isn't a fucking Battle Royale.

It also still looks great and probably runs like a dream on most configurations.

All the praise yet its still just not as good as the original Battlefront games…What we need is that original Free Radical BF3 with actual surface-to-space battles with modern visuals. THAT is the Battlefront we need.

Its almost certainly next in line after Battlefield.
New version of Frostbite and a crossgen PS5/PS6 title EA is gonna be printing money.

Oh I believe Andor has to do with it. Just, why this game

Its a good game.
There arent any other games where you can play lowlevel nonhero characters.

The Rebel vs Empire fantasy that Andor placed in people can only really be fulfilled with this game.

Yeah it's a shame.

Has Frostbite bit us at all in its lifetime, even if Andromeda had its glitches, that was a team forced to use it so we cant really blame the engine as by that point Frostbite 3 was already used by multiple studios and was working well.

Everywhere else Frostbite runs and looks stunning

I think EA have all but learned their lesson with chasing trends.
Bad launches can taint a whole game, so if they were to do a new Battlefront itll likely be close to if not exactly the same as Battlefront 2 in its current state

I loved Battlefront 2. I even have a (very rare) Platinum trophy!

The launch was awful, but they cleaned up the game real nice. And it was so much fun. So much content too.

How I wish they would make an equally good Battlefront 3. I think EA will do that at some point, knowing how profitable a good Star Wars live-service game can be.

It also got an update to "fix" all the bullshit regarding lootboxes/star cards. No longer in there. They've also added SP modes like in the old school games where it's you vs A.I.

Could be wrong, but that is what I heard from people who are now also playing the game again.

Battlefront 2, in the end, landed on a real sweet spot for Star Wars games.

However, it took EA absolutely years to get there. And it wasn't as though it was steadily progressed, they really foooked it up along the way multiple times. Like when Papa Palps could sit at the back line and just electrocute the entire team, or when they didn't even launch with the staple mode supremacy! I mean come on…

I would be all over Battlefront 3 if they made it, but Disney seriously needs to review the franchising model. EA have done naff all.

I don't think we need a Battlefront 3.

Battlefront 2 still looks amazing and plays amazing, just update BF2 with the remaster treatment.

Add a few new hero's and maps.

The true crime is what EA tried doing to the industry with BF2 when it launched. They can get fucked for that.

A BF3 would be cool, but it'd be a GAAS hellscape in this current landscape.

You are correct...

That being said, do you trust any game company today to do a Bfront3 the justice it deserves?

I really hope BF next or whatever it's going to be really is a return to form for DICE but honestly I don't think any studio these days is up to the task of making a Battlefront 3.

with a proper galactic contention campaign mode, proper space and ground warfare etc.

Can you really see EA making such a good decision though? If we ever get a Battlefront 3, 100% it will go through the same shit all over again in some new and ridiculous format.

The first one still blows me away graphically, that aside it's also way more fun than the second, it has some issues like those weird hero pick ups but I don't mind, the maps were incredible, the problem with the second game is that every map was a funnel, starts wide and ends arrow, no twists, no turns, just a straight path shaped like a funnel.

I dunno, Jedi Fallen Order was rather good (haven't played Survivor yet)

Well I think my point is mainly since I played the alpha of the new battlefield, they are doing the game justice... There's at this time no bs, they heard people after 2042 and are making battlefield great again... I feel Dice would do the same with battlefront 3

The ea games are awesome tho, the old ones were good yea but the last 2 iterations feel great to play. For pvp games they were incredible. But I just hate that it's not even like in the works really after 8 years.
The Star Wars IP is in a difficult situation, and I recall Disney taking it back from EA after the whole Battlefront 2 debacle (only to give it back for the Jedi series). Star Wars Outlaws flopped for eg, and it released like 6 months ago
