Crimson Desert - White Horn Boss Battle

looks great - I really expected this to be vaporware and never release (which doesnt mean it will release but them being at gamescom is a good sign)

Looks like they've decided to show the actual game and not fake junk.

I still question it, for an apparent sprawling breath of the Wild style open world with literally every mechanic known to man, that boss arena was a small locked off location with many scripted moments.

Looks good, I just hope this will be actual immersive medieval fantasy without and dumb scifi nonsense, and with good writing and quest design.

Looks like just the right amount of jank for a fun action game. I dunno if they're trying to do $70 for it, but I will play it at $40. $50 if they get me hyped with future gameplay.

Is there an announced release date for this? It was shown off a long time ago, so I assume if they're at Gamescom this year they must be nearly ready?

I think that looks very playable, framerate and all. It's presentation definitely feels more real than some other games imo.

I'd foam at a PS5 Pro version of this.

I'm not saying it's not playable, just that their original trailer was very clearly nonsense.

This fight was very scripted, the original trailer acted like those sequences would just naturally play out in an open world, like a living breathing ecosystem where you can see here that's clearly not the case. You enter the combat arena then it turns into a god of war fight.

I also wonder how all the grappling hooks and free flying, climbing etc is gonna work when you get Locked off into an arena for a boss fight.

The original trailer always looked like nonsense though so I'm not surprised by what we are seeing now. It looks more like an actual game now

Gameplay looks very mediocre.

Was hoping this would be must-have title, but don't think it will be remotely close.

Mind citing some examples of it being mediocre? I thought it looked pretty good gameplay wise and there can actually be a challenge with these bosses. There's a Monster Hunter vibe, but I wonder if it's the 30 fps making it feel that way.

No release date yet. According to Wiki it states Q2 2025, which could make it a spring release. Initially there was a Winter 2021 window and I think that was the only release window we ever got post TGA.

the visual downgrade is expected since it is obvious they would do it based on how 'too good to be true' its looks last time.

what we see on the combat is probably a pure raw gameplay of someone actually playing. so thats why it kind of look bit messy and too fast. usually what we got from media presentation is a something that was played with a plan in mind to show off nice fight choreography.

The visual sure aren't in the reveal level, but I think it still has potential to be a good game.
But something that this game, and most games really, have to improve is the dodge contextual animation. In no situation you should go 'through' an enemy when dodging.

Looks good to me. This is the game that started development as MMORPG, and then was turned into singleplayer, correct?

It's probably because it's unoriginal and we've seen this type of gameplay dozens of times

This developer is just copying other games with this fight.

Looking great, im glad they went more with a Dragon's Dogma style of combat instead of another Souls.

I think the game looks much better now, cuz the initial trailers was using some kind of cinematic filter that made the frame rate all choppy. Now the game looks smooth. Character details are kinda low up close but they look good enough during normal gameplay.

Hope they do a good job with the console versions. Another korean game to look forward too.

Some times when the monster takes a hit it slides a little back, which looks awkward. I hope they fix that.

Other than that, everything looks awesome. I hope it ends up being good.

Yeah this is definitely day 1, a fight that can keep me engaged the entire time and look really fun to play has my approval.

man that looked banger ngl... I'm still somehow reserved having tried playing their previous games but I hope it's an entirely different beast

Too much particles and camera effects imo, but it looks fun to play.

Looks great, can't wait. A single player version of black desert is exactly what i'm looking for. Huge world to explore, lots of different biomes, gear and skills to upgrade. Could be my dream game. Hopefully we get a release date that's within 6 months.

What do you mean by citing some examples?

The entire gameplay clip looks mediocre to me, from animations, to voice acting, to combat and presentation.

It's the production value that makes it mediocre to me, but given that it's from the studio behind BDO, it makes sense. BDO was mediocre as well.

Mediocre doesn't even mean it's bad, but it's just that.

Ah, wow, this is a nice glimpse of some actual gameplay footage. Finally!
The animation looks good, and the framerate seems more stable. Lip syncing isn't quite there, but that's a minor grip for me. Nevertheless, I like how, despite it turning into an 'arena' battle, the camera is able to pan back at times to keep both characters and boss in view. The snow deformation also seems nice, and gives me hope that the expansive weather system that previously leaked may actually make it into the finished game...

Also interesting to see that the current temperature is displayed. Considering how much this game seems to be borrowing from other games, I wonder if the shift in weather will influence what type of clothing the main character should wear, as it does in Read Dead Redemption 2.

Anyway, thoroughly looking forward to seeing more of this as Gamescom starts/progresses.

Maybe the game has a "combat mode" of sorts for bosses that locks certain actions of the player.

I have no idea what to make of this game over the years.

Its like a hot girl you matched with on an app or something but shes a little too eager and some of her camera angles are a little suspect.

Is it a complete catfish? Is it secretly a turd and its just putting a really good foot forward? Is it actually your soulmate?

No idea. But I'll agree to meet for dinner and just be prepared for anything to walk through that door.

The way he bash enemies in the walls and how they react remind me of gow2018.

I also like that he leaves blood marks on the boss during the fight, more games should have wound marks.

Looks pretty good.

Some janky animations, and the regular enemy AI was awful. Also this guy has the strongest wooden shield of all time.
