I already wrote above that after BDO I simply don't trust this developer. That's why I am extremely cautious about this game.

This is actually a very interesting case, because Shift Up actually has a lot of people who worked on single player games. + Hyung-tae Kim (I hope I wrote that correctly...) Lead designer, used to work on the Magna Carta (And his design will be preserved in all games, up until Nikki.) series on PS2\Xbox360, and I'm actually surprised that they won't bring it back, so they re-entered the console market without much difficulty.

(looks at cover) Ah, so they were men of culture from back then.

Not sure how it happened, but I became a Snowbreak player and I can't seem to stop giving that game my time. I've unlocked a LOT of stuff, and so far I've spent around 130 euro, which for a gacha game where the price to buy a character can go up to 200 euro, this is no small feat.

The gameplay captivated me.

Yes... lets call it "gameplay" the thing that captivates you about snowbreak. :messenger_smirking:

I been playing Nikke since launch, have pretty much all characters and so far i spent 0€. Started to play it for the "plot" sticked with the game for the actual plot, insane OST and great characters. Brown Dust 2 is also super generous.

Before Nikke, ShiftUp had another gacha game called Destiny Child. The artstyle from Destiny Child characters are very close to the Magna Carta ones.

We'll see. Personally, I am hopeful - though I do not flat out refuse to take into account the possibility of your guess being correct.
My main draw is the combat feels the same just by looking at it. I've tried BDO on 2 separate occasions in it's lifetime so based on that alone I'm a bit jaded. It'll have a great character creator though.

I will comment on Nikke as I played it for about 1 week. It's as stated above generous towards F2P and you can reasonably get nice pulls by playing the game. Story is half decent as far as these kinds of games go. So it's not unfeasible that Shiftup can make decent gachas.

IMO Destiny Child could also be a nice F2P Waifu collector as well.

Nothing beats the generosity of Cygames however. When it was live Dragalia Lost was the shit. And later on, nowhere near as good but the Princess Connect Gacha was also pretty lenient.

After maybe the first 4 seasons of Fire Emblem Heroes I had enough of Gacha's to where if you played one you played them all.

Other gacha's like Genshin Impact and all the knockoffs are no different.

Yes, he is also the main designer there =)
As it seems to me. They just went to the mobile market because of the profit, and now they are again trying to enter the console market, to increase the profit. If I remember correctly, they have been a public company on the stock market since this year. And they want to grow in breadth and increase the company's influence on the market, so actually, games for phones alone are not enough.

Pretty good AAA production values with that seemless cutscene transition!

Is that game just softcore porn? Not that I have a problem with that, just wondering if that's why the characters cost €200.

I like this one a lot more than the yeti boss from the last video. Looks like the polish has increased quite a bit since that one too. Looks good.

I can't help but feel like they made a mistake with the name though, I keep getting this confused with the MMO Black Desert and almost skipped the thread because of it, twice.

No, it's a 3rd person shooter with an anime-bullshit-Evangelion storyline which is a 50-50 on how much you can follow before handwaving it as gibberish ideology. The game wasn't doing so hot, until the devs doubled down on fanservice by adding 'lewd' skins for the characters, various non-story modes and tasks to keep you occupied and the occasional 'interactive scene' like the one I posted (which currently are very few). At this point I suffer from this psychological condition where you refuse to stop doing something because you've already invested a lot of time on it and don't want to see that time going to waste. Gameplay's fun, but it isn't anything to crow about.

As for the 200, that's the most amount you have to spend if you are really unlucky in your 'draws' (I think this is the term when the game rolls the 'dice' on the percentage of you getting the character you are going for), and if you do not play any game content to grind for the resource used to unlock/buy characters. Only problem is that the biggest source of that income is the story mode, and the story mode will eventually end, reducing the amount of 'crystals' you farm by up to 60%. Now I haven't done the math yet, but if you need 16000 crystals to unlock a 5-star character if you are really unlucky (if you don't get the character after using 100 tickets - each of them costing 160 crystals - the game will automatically give that character to you), and if the game gives you 18 days to unlock that character, and if you more or less get 150 crystals per daily/weekly tasks if you no longer have story mode chapters to beat ... I think that you will be forced to either pay some money to get the character, or just farm at a much slower pace and get the character when she eventually returns to the limited offer store, and you have grinded for 2-4 months in order to get the character.

And of course, the exact same rules apply for weapons, basically doubling or tripling the amount of crystals you need in order to maximize your chosen waifu's effectiveness in combat.

Theoretically you can get everything for free except for the interactive scenes and the occasional lewd skin. If you are willing to grind (a lot), 95% of the game's content is free and unlockable.
Ehh, all those UE5 games starting to look the same. Technically impressive but like copy pasted.
So just like UE4 games with ENB?

Umm... so far they haven't shown a single sexy girl in the game. As the developer who made this, I don't believe you.

I think they are trying to either make a game that 'takes itself seriously' without over-the-top sexy designs, or they are trying to MARKET it as one. As long as the women aren't uglified on purpose and the men are allowed to be men in the story, I am ok with that.

I think this is absolutely awesome. From what I've seen the game has a dark and gritty tune, it's my most anticipated game in 2025.

It looks pretty good but that camera could use some work. Also I didn't really like the slow time abilities, feels like it breaks up the rhythm of combat too much
