“Crusaders: Invasion of Constantinople” is an Action-RPG set in the environment of the Fourth Crusade, an epic event in the European history. Never before used in computer games, this period witnessed the clash of the French, German and English knights with the Byzantine Empire, which led to the capture and sack of Constantinople.

The end of the XII century is near. The Pope Innocent III issues a call to the faithful knights of the Cross to gather together and march to liberate Jerusalem, captured by Arab armies of sultan Salah-ed-Din a few years earlier. The Third Crusade was bloody and cost a lot of lives to Christendom, and the Fourth one will surpass it in many ways, but still the gates of the Holy City will remain a mirage in desert. This time, the crusaders won’t reach Palestine at all, and instead turn against their Christian ally, the Byzantine Empire.

However, none of the enthusiastic young knights joining their barons to embark on Fourth Crusade could even imagine that in the beginning. Thus the stage was prepared for one of the decisive conflicts of the Middle Ages, and the player can relive it now as a common warrior in the crusader ranks.

The title offers a highly dynamic gameplay suitable for an Action combined with the Adventure and RPG elements, adding to the richness of the story and features. The player can freely choose his or her path through the game, picking up one of the heroes with an unique background, and then going through 20 diverse chapters ranging from heather wastes of England to bustling cities of the Middle East.

The game’s combat system will be based on the use of combos of fighting moves, taken from the real fencing and hand-to-hand combat manuals. Together with authentic Medieval weapons and armor, laboriously crafted according to the original samples, this will create a battle experience previously unseen in a computer role-playing game.

The only Crusader game that I want to see is a renewal of this series.....

Whae? Forth Crusade? Historically accurate? Then why does it look like Unreal Tournament? Judging by that press release it's more of an Action- than an RPG. Could be good I guess. What have these people done previously?

Bet On Soldier
Iron Storm

Meh, moderate expectations then.

I'd be happy if some Origin dev could just post a couple paragraphs containing the end of the story.

That's real nice. With all the international tension right now surrounding Turkey, did these developers really think it was a good idea to title their game "Invasion of Constantinople"?

Might as well have called it "Crusaders: Die Turkey Die" or "Crusaders: A Game Set In The Geographical Area of the Soon-to-be-Former Turkish Nation".

:bangheadagainstwall

The game is set before the capture of the city by the Turks.

The crusades are an underutilized source for game material, probably because of the current political climate. I am cautiously optimistic they don't dumb it down to be politically correct. It will probably be a a M game, so adults should be able to handle the realities of history.

It's a good time period to work in, really not a lot has been done there yet IMO.
I don't like the shots though, the depth of field effect is serious overkill..
It has potential but right now it looks a bit early to be showing shots.

Sweet, I did some work on the fourth crusade and the capture of Constantinople back in the first year of my history degree, I wonder if the developers are going for an historical accuracy, or intend on taking a lot of 'creative license'...

*Looks at pictures*

Oh.... :/

Wow, this looks awesome, if only because this period's history is so interesting. I hope it doesn't suck.

And I'd love a remake of the 96 Crusader games. This fan site says that there's work being done on a Source mod of those games.

Hahahah the fourth crusade :lol

Wow. This could be cool, i'd love to sack Constantinople.
