I've got zilch going on today, so I'm justifying my existence by dorking around in Dreamweaver and trying to see exactly how nerdy I can get.

According to Google, CSS3 allows for bonafide columns, which made the design-nerd in me squeal like a little girl. The problem is getting them to render. I should note that Google also gave me hints that Firefox does support these things. If not, well, I guess that's a real bummer, because it's a very cool idea whose time has definitely come. I can't seem to get Firefox to do it, though.

Does anyone have any experience with these? The w3.org reference page does say "working draft," but it's also 3 years old.

Do you mean like the examples in the "CSS Techniques" section of this page?

They're really not that hard to do, it just involves positioning DIVs and then tweaking the style tags to change how they look. It's really handy. There are examples and resources on that page that really helped me out when I was experimenting with them. :)

Well, divs just call specific classes and IDs from a .css. But I'm not speaking about columns with carefully planted, measured pieces of text for each. I'd like to be able to say, basically, "Make 3 columns," and then just start typing.

Ah, I see. I don't know anything about that, but it sounds like it'd be a nice thing to give a shot. :)
