Didnt get to go to E3?

Want your own cool decals for the Nintendo DS like all the media got?

Well now you can. I've taken the time to create a template based off Nintendo's DS decals, and will be making custom decals for anyone who wants to purchase them.

They will be printed on high-quality transparent sticker paper (3M brand, the same Nintendo used) and can come either un-cut (so you can do it yourself w/ exacto knife), or pre-cut for a few dollars more.

If you are interested, e-mail me (dean@n-sider.com) as cost will vary based on design. Typically one color and black looks best, but you CAN do full photo-like images. Just remember that anything white will be transparent.

I strive to make great products and will be with you every step of the design process to ensure it's to your satisfaction.

A standard one colour + black design, uncut, will run $10, and pre-cut will be $15.

For those who wish to cut the decals themselves, there will be a soft outline for you to work with that will not show up on a grey DS (will be the same colour). Also, if you plan on getting a decal made for a BLUE DS (or any other colour), please make note of that in your e-mail to me.

Price is negotiable depending on how complex you want the decals to be.

I look forward to making some sweet designs for anyone interested.

can you make one that makes it looks like an NES controller (like the SP skin) and are these removable?

This is actually a pretty damn neat idea. Are you printing these via a color laser jet? How difficult are these to align straightly? I'll have to think on a decent design to apply, as I'm interested...

I can do pretty much anything, I'm actually going to get them printed at a real print-shop, so I'm going to see what I can do about white ink.

I'll do a nes design like requested and you guys can be the judge;

expect that later tonight.

As for alignment, they're VERY easy to apply and align - and remove if you even want to.

I've included the same instructions Nintendo included with their decals, so even an idiot can do it.

I've tested my templates on a real DS and they align just as well as the E3 versions. I even fixed Nintendo's speaker misalignment on the left side.

If a mod wants to move this to Gaming, I just didnt think a 'for sale' thread would be Gaming discussion fodder.

Here's a quick (and I mean quick) mockup of a NES DS.

I used the GBA SP model as a base, and moved stuff around to suit the DS' design. I did not make a top flap internal decal as there really isnt much to add to the design in terms of 'old skool'ness

so yeah, took about 10 minutes to produce:

Keep in mind of the decal location (From the first pics you get a beter idea), that's what I'm working with. So changing the entire base colors and button colors are out of the question, unless you're willing to paint them yourselves, lol.

The NES one doesnt look all that hot, due to that big open space of grey on the bottom screen. If anyone has any other ideas or requests, I'll make a nice mockup in the veign of the katamari one above that oli showed.

Not to kill potential business, but where did you buy the decal paper? I've found some inkjet transparent sticker paper, but it's some random brand. I was looking to do an NES-style SP and would feel better buying 3M stuff.

Correctomundo.

Besides, it's a piece of paper for the most part, I cant imagine shipping would be all that much, lol.

As for where I got it; we have a 3m plant in town, and they have a front-end store... So a+b = c

I tried to get some clear film labels this morning to do this, but my printer uses colorant rather than dye so I'm not gonna get anywhere, I reckon :(

I don't have the neccessary printer to do it, so if I were to give someone a list of all the GBA boxs I need to be DSd would anyone do it?

Cool, I just found some film labels that are compatible with my printer, so I'll have to have a play and see what I can do. Not sure I can be arsed to cut around the kanji for that KD design, but the landscape and cows shouldn't be a problem.

So.. I make a post selling a service, and everyone steals my idea to do it theirselves, and now no one wants to buy them from me?

Great fucking job guys.

I think you could be pissed if someone took your idea and started selling them, but for us to do it for our own personal use I don't think you should be screaming...especially when you've told us nothing new (you take clear label stuff, cut it out, stick it on). I would never pay someone for something like this, but it would be something fun for me to do on a rainy day.

And this attitude isn't going to get you any customers either. The best way to go about it is to post a do-it-yourself guide showing how to do it, but then also offer to do it for others for a price. You will undoubtedly get more business that way as the guide would be popular, hit forums, and a bunch of kids with DS'es who can't do it themselves would be interested and give you $$.

Instead, you'd rather just tell everyone to fuck off.

Care to share the name of these labels? I feel like making an NES skin to match my NES GBA.

I'm not telling anyone to feck off, but the idea of the guide sounds cool.

I'll whip something up tonight.

Pretty damn close.. ;)

But glad to see you're going to put a guide together. Let us know when it's up, I know some people who'd be interested in making/buying some decals.
