21:9 with custom reshade. This game, man.
Sometimes the city is just awe-inspiring. I want to run it at max settings but waiting to hopefully get a 3080 when they stop disappearing into the ether.21:9 with custom reshade. This game, man.
Cyberpunk 2077 Is the Game of the Year, but Only in That "Time Man of the Year" Kind of Way

I think this is the first Karak review I've ever disliked.
Post-launch reviews for this game are so fucking weird, including this one. Bugs notwithstanding, everyone is comparing this game to GTA instead of The Witcher which is just ridiculous to me. As soon as the game had cars and guns the expectations jumped the shark. You're no longer reviewing the game for what it is but rather for what you wanted it to be. People blame marketing for setting the GTA-like expectation but I went back and watched it their presentations again and as far as I'm concerned they showed a Witcher-like game with cars and guns. At this point the hate train is just feeding itself and it's the hip and meme thing to do.
But go ahead and rake CDPR over the coals anyway. Destroy their company so they never release another game like this ever again. And before you accuse me of hyperbole, consider: Sony pulled them from the store, investors are considering a class action, their stock has crashed, and employees are mutinying. The message has been sent and received. Enjoy your gaming future powered by microtransaction-filled always-online live service games from the likes of EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, etc.
Cyberpunk game has many issues of its own worth criticizing (there are many great posts in this thread). From the shoddy UI and gear system which is easily broken, to the overabundance of filler side jobs that hide the really excellent ones, to the completely garbage fistfighting quests (maybe that's just me being salty). Support for old consoles should have been dropped or delayed. Base PS4 and XB1 performance is not acceptable, and I'm sorry for anyone that tried to play those versions. However, my technical experience on PC has been good, maybe even great. The game is easily the best looking and most well-realized environment I've ever seen. The density of detail is second to none. Yes, it's buggy, so if you can't deal with that then go ahead and wait, but for me the slight jank is acceptable for what is an otherwise amazing experience.
TL;DR: I played 110 hours in 12 days, saw all the endings, bought all the cars without exploiting, and loved 95% of my time with it. Easily up there with The Witcher 3, though not quite as good. There were bugs but nothing I couldn't deal with, not much different than TW3 on release IMO.
Please don't destroy CDPR because I really like their games.
I can believe there is only 2 joytoys on the street very disappointed.
Man was sent a link to the 48 minute gameplay video from 2018 I am just shocked at how good it looks in comparison to what we got.
Below is a list of features we see in this video which never actually featured in the actual released game with added timestamps from reddit.
0:06 Nope, never happened. No cutscenes where you can see your own character
1:01 "This is an RPG" Nope....that's a lie, you changed the tag from RPG to Action game
1:01 No key life event and "Why Night City" in the actual game, All characters play the same exact way after the prologue.
1:08 "New possibilities later in the game". Just few extra dialogues that has almost no impact in the game
1:20 "And many, many more". Nope, just add "nails" to the list and that's it. Character customization is one the laziest i've seen in an RPG. But hey, you can customize your d**k (type 1 and 2...wow)
1:37 "Near the beginning of the game". Yes, correct...after a time skip of 6 months with cut contents and absolute 0 context.
1:40 "Along with a netrunner called T-Bug". Yes, the player will hear that name for the first time, but not the characters....they have probably already met her during the 6 month period you are not able to play.
2:44 Nope, not such a thing like context-related stealth takedown. All the knockdowns in the game play the same exact animation.
3:00 Nope. NPC and Enemies don't interact with any props in game
3:40 Nope, not happening. Enemies' AI is not that advanced. This was probably a scripted scene removed from the final game. Jackie never interacted with the actual environment
3:45 Nope, not happening.
3:50 Nope, V does not interact with other NPC during combat.
4:14 Just no....Jackie is more a bullet-sponge than anything else.
4:25 Jackie changing weapon grapping a new one from the enemy? Hell no, not happening.
5:44 Options on how to carry on with the mission? Not happening.
7:14 No, V never said that. Again: V doesn't interact in anyway with the world around him/her.
7:46 Nope, elevators often have only 2 possible destinations: Ground floor and Mission Floor.
7:52 Again, No third person cutscenes
8:05 Hell NO. Not happening. not even the slightest. This frame is so full of lies I don't even know where to start: no cutscenes about the apartment, No clothes around the house; no Joytoys coming at your house and getting re-dressed after s*x. V doesn't sleep like that on the bed. Check the memes about that
8:29 No, that's a lie. You don't interact with people like that.
8:30 Not happening
8:39 Not happening
9:14 NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. All the possible interactions with props are made possible with the press of 1 key, "F", while aiming at them. No Additional fancy UIs
11:09 No, it doesn't.
11:57 No, elevators don't have that many options...again
12:17 "With no loading screens" Fair enough, but instead of a loading screen they put elevators rides that takes several seconds, during these elevator runs you won't see the outside most of the time.
13:05 "LIES LIES LIES LIES".
13:14 No, that's not true. NPC don't have day-night cycles.
15:17 No, Missions' intels are not that good
20:10 No, vendor's interface is not that good. You will get a UI from early 2000s
22:12 That's the scanning mode we got
22:20 No, not true.
24:20 No, nothing like that in the game
24:31 Driving interface is nothing like that. They downgraded it to a simple HUD element in the corner of the screen.
24:47 "OK. BOOMER"
24:58 "No....only some broken cars and a couple of bikes....nothing else"
25:06 This scene is clearly scripted and the same thing happen in the actual game. In the game it's simply not that epic
25:12 No, not happening
25:16 Seen that car accident? Well....forget anything like that.
25:53 "WHAT?" What does that even mean? Hell no....nothing like that.
23:58 Seen that collision? Forget about that...most of time things will just explode if you get too close of them. Other time that rubbish will be as hard as a wall, stopping your car.
27:13 Yes. You could do that, but it would have no impact on the outcome.
28:34 That's a lie. A big LIE. Player's decision have almost 0 impact on the story and the quests.
37:54 No, not really. There isn't such a thing
38:14 No. There is nothing like this in the game.
38:27 No, they don't.
38:58 No. Only 3. Tech, Strength and Hacking. All of them are based on a minimum level of that stat to open the way; actual perks and skills in that category doesn't matter.
40:06 No, Enemies won't react in any way to grenades' or others. They will just stay still and get hit by them.
44:33 No, nothing like that, really.
44:52 No, only 2% of all quests have different paths you can choose from. The specific quest they have shown in this video is the only one in the game with some different choices in it. Nothing dramatic, really.... It's "Ally with Maelstrom and be enemies of the Miltech" or the exact same opposite.... there are 5-6 ways of playing this mission but they all end with 2 possible final outcomes.
There's no reason CDPR deserves better for "trying" with the scale and budget and time they were provided, sorry.
-looks at GTAV-There's nothing else like CP2077 out there, even at the state that it's in. They deserve tons of credit. Sorry.
Claire is one badass Trans character, but Ree will not accept her
-looks at GTAV-
-looks at Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Human Revolution-
Uh...sure.
Again, I'm not saying the devs deserve to get shit on, but the product is busted and half complete systematically/mechanically. It's lacking tons of features that a title with this dev cycle and money should have.
There was "nothing like" Mass Effect Andromeda on the market when it came out and that doesn't mean I think ME:A is less of a broken/shallow game.
Cyberpunk is a step above FO4 and ME:A for sure, but to pretend like there's "nothing else out there" like this game that simply iterated on GTA and Deus Ex and then half assed other features isn't really saying a lot.
There's good in the game, I'm not saying there isn't any. I'm just saying that there's zero reason to give CDPR more credit than Hello Games, Bethesda, EA, Bioware, etc. The analysis has to remain consistent for someone's opinion to mean something to me, and just because it's CDPR doesn't mean they deserve kudos for "trying."
People didn't pay 60-70-100 dollars for "trying" they paid for 8 years of development time, multiple delays, etc for a game to come out completed. Getting that good will back will take time. I haven't written CDPR off as devs but they fucked up here, and to not be able to even admit that or agree with that is, in my opinion, blind fanboyism.
Shocking that things change over timeYou missed one more:
WORK IN PROGRESS - DOES NOT REPRESENT THE FINAL LOOK OF THE GAME
Like it or not? I think you're assuming intent here on something that doesn't make sense. There were three other Mass Effects before ME: A, and GTAV and Deus Ex are separate games. Like I said, there's nothing else that provides what Cyberpunk does in one package. Not even DE, or Watch_Dogs.
Like it or not, CDPR isn't going anywhere. The game has sold over 12 million copies, and the next gen update, expansions and online multiplayer haven't even been released.
I had a 509 mb update on gog but i don't know what it is.Just had a 993mb CP update on steam, any idea what that could be?
Sure thing, message received!Hey Bit_Reactor . Welcome to NeoGAF. You're passionate about your Cyberpunk position and that's totally cool, but intense ongoing debate is better suited to our other Cyberpunk threads besides the Cyberpunk |OT|. This thread is primarily for more relaxed discussion between people who are currently playing through the game and generally enjoying it.
1.06 is live on GOG and PSN too.

Awesome! The save file limit was removed.1.06 is live on GOG and PSN too.

Modders fixed it yesterday. But it's good to have an official solution. Shows that CDPR won't stop until game is 100% flawless.I hoped for more but at least the save problem was quickly fixed, that's good.
Yeah I was wondering what is it about this quest that everyone keeps talking about it. And well, once again not something I expected."Dream on" and "Sinnerman". Got damn. CDPR still has it. The latter had me feeling physically unwell (in a good way, if that makes sense) and I can't think of a game I played this year including TLOU2 or RDR2 that did that.

Maybe someone will finally make a thread where people can discuss their issues with CP2077...
8 fucking years I've waited for this game. Plus i play this game at work because i have nothing better todo. but I tend to get bored quick, and I have yet to run into that in this game. Its a blast once you take off the mini map and other UI elements. You burn threw the content that way and miss the small things. Like paying a homeless man 100 eddies so he can scream more dumb shit at people, because i thought it was funny. Its when it hit me i was sucked into this world and interacting with it in a small way.For Christmas, I’m getting you a life.
Yep. This is very important for immersion. I was staring at the mini map way too much and missing out on the world itself. Its a blast once you take off the mini map and other UI elements. You burn threw the content that way and miss the small things.
I hope they did. Play the game as intended or just mod it. What's the point. Can anyone with the update confirm if they stealth patched the painting glitch selling at the kiosks?
Oh yeah. Getting rid of the damage numbers. that was a big one.Yep. This is very important for immersion. I was staring at the mini map way too much and missing out on the world itself.
Graphically it looks better on the XSX.Stadia > all other console versions
Everytime I see a new patch I keep waiting to see in the notes "optimized the game on PC to provide better performance". I will continue to wait.
