After a longer than usual hiatus (511 days!), "Da Vinci's Demons" finally returns with 10 all new episodes on Saturday, October 24 at 8/7c. Unfortunately, as revealed earlier this year, these 10 episodes will be the show's last. Furthermore, the decision to end the show was made after the third season was already done filming, so the writers didn't plan for the season finale to act as the series finale. Still, they're promising fans a satisfying conclusion and more importantly, no cliffhangers (!!!), which is really all anyone can ask for. Who's in for one last season?

The entire season - all 10 episodes - will go live on Starz Play and Starz On Demand in the U.S. in conjunction with the premiere of the the first episode on October 24.

Since all the episodes are going up at once, Netflix style, we'll follow the rules set in the Netflix original series threads and spoiler tag (and label) all spoilers for the first two weeks, until November 7. Please spoiler tag any discussion and label which episode you're talking about outside of the tags: e.g. Ep 3:
I can't believe Riario broke his sunglasses!

Leonardo Da Vinci's world comes crashing down when the city of Otranto is torn apart by an Ottoman invasion. On the battlefield, the Turks use da Vinci's own weapons against him... The designs for which were stolen by someone he trusted.

Cast

  • To fight those who seek to destroy everything he loves, Leo must align with old foes, repair broken friendships, discover hidden secrets, and resume a dangerous quest, knowing all the while that he his own worst secret.
  • After playing her part in the Ottoman invasion, Lucrezia Donati spirals into dark and reckless behavior that could threaten to destroy her from the inside out.
  • Upon his return to Italy from the New World, Riario was kidnapped by the mysterious Labyrinth, and their plans for him threaten to propel him down a dangerous path.
  • When Lorenzo finds himself at the mercy of his enemy, he is forced to reexamine his priorities, putting the lives of those he loves, and the citizens of Florence, at risk.

  • Having been loyal to Leo for countless years, Zoroaster ultimately learns that blind faith in his friend is not in anyone's best interest, and begins to push Leo to examine the consequences of his actions.
  • After fleeing Otranto, Pope Sixtus returns to Rome to discover that his incarcerated brother, the Prisoner, has mysteriously escaped. In an attempt to protect himself, Sixtus sees an opportunity to spread his influence around Italy...by preying on the fears of his own people.
  • After the bastard son of Cosimo steals the Florentine fortune out from under the nose of Clarice, he flees to Rome, where he seeks refuge with his brothers in the Labyrinth.
  • In the wake of her affair with Lorenzo's duplicitous uncle, and Carlo's subsequent thievery of the Medici fortune, Clarice Orsini sets out on a mission for vengeance.

And I think I'll miss you most of all, Renaissance Batman.

I'll be there. Maybe I'll binge all of it on Sunday. I need to rewatch the last episodes of Season 2 this week, I don't remember exactly where everyone left off.

I know this is the final season no matter what, but maybe this is better watched binge style. Sorta excited to devour this, and Flesh & Bone when that is released. But leave my Black Sails alone, Starz!

As someone who's curious and never watched the show, what's it about, but more specifically, the hook?

"Leonardo da Vinci Begins" is the best way to describe it. The hook is that we follow the adventures of young da Vinci. He gets into crazy situations, makes weird anachronistic contraptions, and fights a vampire.

Season premiere is finally here!

Semper Infidelis

In the Season 3 premiere, the Ottoman Empire invades Otranto, forcing Leonardo and his allies to retreat.

Reminder:

The entire season - all 10 episodes - will go live on Starz Play and Starz On Demand in the U.S. in conjunction with the premiere of the the first episode on October 24.

Such a tragedy. The man is a legend.

Riario is the Vegeta of Da Vinci's Demons. I mean, who didn't love him going all Predator on those goons last season?

Fuck! Final season!? Here's hoping Netflix picks it up the way they did Longmire, because this series is fucking great. Looking forward to binge watching the final season.

Any chance this show will be streamed somewhere legal? I don't have Starz anymore.

The Starz streaming apps are the only place I can think of in the United States. Starz has been sorta weird about their shows. Some of them end up on Netflix, some of them end up on Hulu, and some just don't. For example, I don't think the previous seasons of Black Sails are streaming anywhere. I hope they change that, even going the Showtime route with an app built into Hulu for an extra charge would increase the visibility of their original shows, at least in my mind.

I'm going to rewatch the Season 2 finale today and hopefully have some time to dive into the first episode of S3. Haven't read any reviews or impressions, so I'm going in completely fresh.

The premiere was pretty decent, although the impact of the events was lessened because I had completely forgotten everything that happened last season. I should have read a recap. :/

Same here Ratsky. Even with the previously segment there was still a bunch of stuff I didn't remember at all. Not like Starz really cares anymore, but they clearly let too much time pass between the airing of season 2 and season 3.

Whoaaaa (episode 2)
a prosthetic boner!
That's maybe only the second or third time I've seen one of those in a TV show.

EDIT: AAAHHHHH
SHE BROKE THE DICK. DAT CRUNCH

They really should have uploaded an official series recap video to YouTube or something.

All in all, I'd say episode 2 was better than the first one - the action was better executed and the pacing was significantly improved.
That rope slide bit was exciting.

It's good to finally have the show back.

I was cringing/laughing at those scenes. That's something I never thought I'd see on television.

Episode 3 - That was a good one. It was fun to see
Da Vinci play Will Graham for an episode. I can't wait to see how he deals with being tortured by the spooky hooded men.

Also,

RIP Clarice! :( There's been at least one fairly significant death in each episode so far: Alfonso in 1, Leo's dad in 2, Clarice in 3...

I've seen it all.

Some significant losses, some returns (
Vlad! ... although he became a touch too comedic by the end of it
). All in all a reasonably good ending to the story.

However I did expect a bit more of the book of leaves storyline. The way that was portrayed was a bit of an oddity by the end of it all.

Episode 4 -
Interesting decision to make almost the entire episode one big "what if" scenario. I enjoyed it though and thought it was well done.

Episode 5 -
There goes another one. RIP Dragonetti.

Episode 6 -
I couldn't understand half of what Evil Riario was saying, and thus don't really understand what exactly is going on with him (his personality split when he killed his mom but it lay dormant until the Labyrinth tortured him?), but Blake Ritson definitely sold the heck out that meltdown.

Baron Aloha

A Shining Example
I watched the entire season over the weekend. I felt like it was a little bit better than the 2nd season but the 1st season was by far the best. I'm going to miss this show.

Also, I felt like Riario was sooo good this season. He always was my favorite character but the actor just took it up to a whole other level. So fun to watch. Very memorable character/performance.

Episode 8 -
YAS DRACULA IS BACK(ULA) :O

Other thoughts:

Chess match with Vlad! Fuck yes!

The muddy/rainy Leo vs. Carlo fight was great. That's another one down. They're really not playing around this season!

Leo's sister is awesome, and a great new addition to the cast. Too bad there's only 2 episodes left...

What kind of crazy contraption did Leo build this time? Some sort of lightning generating kite bird? oh my god why did this have to be cancelled :(

Episodes 9 & 10 -
The final 2 episodes were a whole lot of fun. In fact, the whole season was a lot of fun. I'm sad to see the show end but I think it went out on a high note. The finale wrapped everything up nicely (except for Lucretia's dad...I don't remember what happened to him. I guess he's still lurking around somewhere?), especially for Leo and his crew.

Other thoughts:

Super happy that they brought Vlad back and gave him a bunch of cool things to do. What a fun character.

The last few action sequences were very well done, but the lightning bolt massacre was one of the series' greatest triumphs. It was a thrilling sequence made bittersweet by the knowledge that it was to be the series' last, and then all the more poignant by the sacrifice of Lucrezia.

Speaking of Lucrezia, there were already a ton of deaths this season, so I was surprised when she (and to a lesser extent Pope Sixtus and Al-Rahim) died. I thought for sure she and Leo would end up together like in his vision of the future-to-be. :(

"People of accomplishment rarely sit back and let things happen to them - they went out and happened to things."

Excellent quote to end the episode - and the series - with.

Farewell, "Da Vinci's Demons"!

Finished tonight. A pretty great season, I thought.

The thought that I'll never get to see Riario again is heart-breaking.

Finished. Good ending for the season, so disappointing for a series finale. :(

Previous seasons were all about the research of the Book of Leaves... at the end, we don't see the book, only a page that was already shown two years ago, in the first season.
And Leo never meets physically his mother, after three seasons? Are you kidding me???

Sadly, the Season 2 storyline could be now defined pointless.

This telefilm was a gem, but it needed one or two more seasons to close all the loose ends.
It has been ruined by the network.
Starz, I hate you.

Did anyone else have an audio bug on episode 8? Almost all the dialogue is washed out on Starzplay for me in firefox and chrome, yet the background sounds come in clear. Might be my sound system if nobody else has experienced it but it is bloody odd since no other episode has had that problem.

Kissed a mod for a tag; liked it
So I finally finished s3 and wow. So many deaths. So many loose ends. I really thought the dream sequence Leo had in the future with Lucretia would come to fruition :(

Also Riario is a treasure. So fantastic, majestic, evil
not to mention a hottie
.

Kinda bummed that was the ending but to be honest I have no idea what happened throughout most of this show.
