Pharrel is kind of a turn off for me, but despite that I still really dig the track. His lyrics sound fine and once the vocoders take over the track becomes so god damn awesome.

I think Pharrel's voice matches the mood/feel of dope ass song pretty well.
Do this:
Close your eyes.
Try to forget about who is actually singing it.
Go blank mentally and just listen.

The part with pharrels vocals really didn't sit well with me the first time. I think mainly because it wasn't something that sound very daft punkish to me.

After listening a few times, I'll admit it sound pretty darn good though, I still prefeer the parts where it's not pharrel singing though :P

a bit OT & gaming related:
exists something that vaguely replicates that disco/groove/funky feel in its atmosphere & setting as part of the overall experience? i mean not necessarly dance games etc...

comes Ballade of Gay Tony close? never played it.
DP should make a game. ;-)

Didn't expect Pharrell to be on this song at all! He's killing it on this one.

So goooood, I'm ready for this robot disco to get lucky.

Exactly this. I love Pharrell and I still ended up closing my eyes and listening to it just 'cause...I don't know, it was a little distracting seeing Pharrell singing in a Daft Punk song. If that makes sense. And yeah I know he already sang in a remix of HBFS on the Daft Club album.

Haha, didn't think of that, but you'd probably enjoy it.

Your boss in the expansion owns the two biggest dance clubs in Liberty City (one straight, one gay) and you have some missions involving business with the clubs and side missions where you help manage the clubs. You can even play a dancing minigame :lol

And in typical R* fashion, they put a bunch of great new music on the radio to fit the vibe. Lots of good disco/R&B in there. Like Candi Staton, Sister Sledge, and Nile Rogers' own Chic.

This is making me realize that I should probably be listening to more funk from the 70's and such. Anyone have any recommendations? I woefully don't know much about that musical genre and era. :/

Start with Earth Wind & Fire. Some of my favorite albums from them are That's the way of the world, All N All, I am, and Gratitude (amazing live album).

I love Funk man. I'm so hyped for this album :D

Daft Punk produced an N*E*R*D song, Pharrell remixed a Daft Punk song and also rapped over one of the Tron beats so I don't know about him being not being a good fit for Daft Punk or whatever.
They'll technically have five (or perhaps six) songs together once this album releases.

At the risk of sounding like a douche, the other thread is lightyears ahead of this one now. Why even bother bumping this?

Track listings, interviews, some avatars.. you name it, we got it.

Daft Punk fans seem to be completely incapable of defending their opinions beyond gifs. I suppose that's what happens when you like entry level music and want to pretend it's special.

So is it expected that there'll be a minute long advert during SNL? Considering the first part of the Coachella vid fits that time perfectly.
