The average WWE fan is probably older than the average Daft Punk fan. Although Daft Punk has kinda become Dad Dance over the years so it may be a tie.

Also entry level is so self explanatory I'm not sure what kind of description you guys are hoping for.

Jesus Christ man, just get the hell out of here. NOBODY is on your side in this shit-spouting charade. You're in a thread brimming with Daft Punk fans on the countdown to a new album, so let us do our thing and kindly leave us to it.

For the record, I'd argue that most Daft Punk fans are in fact older than you'd believe. Probably a lot older than you too.

The genre

Take a pleb off the street who says they want to listen to electronic music give them Daft Punk
This could not be further from the truth. A lot of people(dubstep fans) are looking for drops. Where are the drops in daft punk.

Daft punk couldn't be further from the current mainstream EDM scene. The closest stuff is Justice.

Look at some other popular EDM acts
Zedd, SHM, AVB

Sounds nothing like Daft Punk. You clearly don't know what the hell you are talking about.

What do you consider high level music?

It's not a question of quality, it's a question of simplicity and accessibility. I like some Daft Punk it just feels like they've got themselves in this entry level frame of mind. I'm disappointed they don't seem to be interested in doing anything challenging. This song sounds like a parody.

AAAAH, can't wait for this!

Time for some Chord Memory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAc4RLZVywI

Like it was mentioned by MThanded, how can you say that considering that what Daft Punk is doing right now is basically the opposite of what most popular EDM musicians are doing? Look at the songs that are in the charts right now, none of them sound like Get lucky.

I don't even understand what your point is with this entry level stuff. I'll take simplicity over the overproduced crap we have these days any day of the week.

I seriously want to understand what he is saying. He couldn't put together a cogent argument to save his life. Daft punk sounds little to nothing like the most popular EDM acts today. That is really what sets Daft Punk apart. Not many people are doing stuff like that. They always manage to evoke the disco era and keep everything sounding fresh.

If you want to troll step your game up son.

Yeah dude nowhere near enough noise or krautrock elements in this shit I gotta go listen to Faust to get this plebeian garbage out of my head uuggghh wait until everybody on /mu/ hears about this

Basically, he means that Daft Punk are one of the first EDM artists people see before they delve deeper into the various genres of dance music (house, techno, disco etc).

Them's fighting words sonny jim.

Sorry. Did you say Venetian Snares? I thought you said Autechre.

I dont think its true at all. Most younger EDM fans did not have Daft Punk as their jumping off point. Do you really believe this? You think your common trance, dubstep or house fan started listening to Daft Punk and then started their subgenre listening. I am not buying it at all.

While Daft Punk's music is timeless I highly doubt they are the group that has brought most people to the EDM scene. Especially younger people.

I can understand not liking DP, but he hasn't offered any qualitive assessment beyond implying the music is simple and the fans are stupid. Its really baffling, because its not like DP churn out mountains of crap and each album has a distinct style to the point upon first hearing people go "thats not daft punk". So what the fuck is he talking about?

And i'm cool with it being Dad dance music, because my dad listens to awesome fucking music.

Thats not even true though. Most younger EDM fans did not have Daft Punk as their jumping off point. Do you really believe this?

I believe that's what he meant. I have no reason to believe it's true though. No more than any other popular artist in any other genre.

Most kids coming into EDM nowadays probably started from Tiesto, David Guetta, deadmau5, Skrillex, etc. I know from my experience, I started listening to EDM in the late 90s with cats like Prodigy, Moby, Orbital, etc. Hell, the first Daft Punk song I heard wasn't even One More Time. It was actually Teachers and when I saw the One More Time section of Interstella 5555 on Toonami, I was like "Wait! Daft Punk made this!?"

Sorry. Did you say Venetian Snares? I thought you said Autechre.

now that I can agree with.

Entry level.

Grimes, Little Boots and Bonobo are probably entry level too.

It's not an insult, but it's not a great descriptor either. If the music has more chance of finding you than you have of finding it, then it's probably entry level.

oh, that's how you're quantifying entry level... Then everything is entry level for me and levels mean nothing.

? I'm not saying that they aren't but being at the tender age of 7-10 years old, I wasn't overly concerned with what was entry level and what wasn't. I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm trying to say levels are stupid, and stupidly trying to speak for someone else by defining what I think they meant by entry level.

Don't shoot the clairvoyant :(

Hint for the rest of your life.

Enjoy everything that way.

How about we just give music elitism a rest?

I can enjoy both autechre (for example) and daft punk at the same time.

Try taking both classical and commercial music classes at the same time. I can't even tell fucking Don Giovanni apart from The Wheels On the Bus anymore.

I know that Daft Punk was a gateway for me and a lot of people I know, but we all turned 18 when Alive came out, it kind of coincided with being label to freely drink and go out and take drugs.
