Holy crap, Mario and Wario still there? Is Super Mario 64 DS going to top the original Super Mario 64 eventually? Donkey Konga 3 disappeared... doh.

I WANT METEOS ON THAT LIST DAMN IT!!!!!

Other than that, NDS games are kicking ass, and its nice to see Kirby up there if it is as good as people claim for it to be.

My gut feeling: The next big hit in japan will be Nintendogs, and it will sell shitloads.

I doubt it's gonna really take off the way people are expecting/hoping. It'll probably do relatively poorly, like 23k-32k for each version (for the first week).

The NDS does sell a LOT of software.
Even the third party games sell decent, which is amazing. The quality of titles like Egg monster isn't very high, but it sells very well (little effort big win).

If these sales continue and if the same will happen in Europe and VS, I can see why so many developers want to put content on the NDS. Games are a lot cheaper to develop and will generate more money than expensive PSP games.

I would love to see the hardware numbers for this week. Maybe the new colors gave the NDS a new spurt.

The only numbers we have for this week is 56k for the DS. Not sure if it's been 100% confirmed though.

56K is pretty decent. :)

I forgot about easter though...
The PSP is likely to surpass 56K and makes the gap smaller (the PSP gained about 200.000 since the spurt).

Seems like a lot of people celebrates Easter on Wednesday...

Not really - not this week.

Go DS. I bought one expecting it not to be supported a year later, any extension of that and I'll consider myself pleasantly surprised.

And anyone saying that Nintendogs isn't going to sell any better than this third party shit is on crack. Everyone who got Harvest Moon will probably buy it, on top of the Nintendo elite (minus the overlap). I'm sure it'll do fine.

I have a friend importing two copies of each version, so that's +6

Is it wrong to get the game at all, or 6 copies total?
Six of the same god damn game. And its a game he hasn't played and hasn't seen any reviews for. Tell him to give some of his extra money to me, juice :)

It makes me happy seeing that many DS titles on the list. I'm expecting the handheld to just explode once the big hitters start coming more regularly.

Izzy already said "Not really", but to back that up, the last time PSP was over 56K was the week of January 24. Since then it has averaged 43K, so I'd say it's unlikely.

I reckon psp sales will be 40K this week. Bleach and Easter may push that up, but doesn't seem too likely to me. Also, I don't want to be presumptious, but it looks like the DS may not only have taken the lead, but is keeping it this week. The reason I say that, is that the DS launch games Mario 64 and Wario are both in the charts(presumably selling to new DS owners) whereas Hot Shots and Dynasty Warriors are not. In fact Wario is even ahead of the biggest post launch PSP game(Tales). Things are really heating up.

I think the DS will do well throughout April as well, it may not always top the PSP in hardware sales the next couple of weeks, but it'll definitely stay up there with another huge spike when the next two colors release, maybe a bigger one, but I'm only taking that with salt from IGN's anecdotal evidence about the Pink DS being the "hardest" of the four colors to get a preorder for.

But who knows, it may be able to maintain a steady sales number throughout April and possibly May, but looking back on the past couple of months and the jumpy sales, I doubt that.

TOKYO--New hues is good news for Nintendo. With the release of the colored DS models, sales of the handheld are better than ever in Japan. According to sales data obtained by Dengeki Online, Nintendo saw its DS sales rise more than twofold during the week of March 21 to March 27. Sales for the week were 54,000 units, compared to the previous week's sales of 21,000 units.
