Damn Internet Explorer

I use Mozilla Firefox now, thank you lord, but I'm still curious as to WHAT the hell went on with IE. Maybe GAF knows (someone on GAF ALWAYS knows...).

A few days ago, Internet Explorer started acting up. I'd open a webpage, and it would stay open for ten seconds before the URL changes into "http:///" hence a Page Cannot Be Displayed sign. But the worst part is that all of a sudden, more webpages with the same URL and page begin opening up. Before long, I have 60 IE pages open with the exact same thing and more opening. Luckily my computer is good enough not to crash, but it's still disheartening. Adaware and Spybot haven't fixed the problem, so I'm trying Spyware Doctor, but I'm curious to see if this has happened to anyone else who happens to still be using IE.

Well, I haven't used IE in years, but it sounds like some sort of browser hijacking, probably the result of some nasty little program you caught. Spybot and Ad-aware are good, but I added in SpySweeper and Hijack This as well....the latter in particular may be of some use since it specializes in browser hijacking.

That makes tons of sense; I'll get on it, thanks.

Still, even if I do fix the problem, there's no way in hell I've leaving Mozilla.

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
This is a virus, a registry virus. And goddamn if I can remember the name of it, but it is a bitch. I had to do some online work and get it off my sisters computer about 5 months ago. Use Ad-Aware and RegCleaner, but if it turns out to be this one it will take some more intensive work. Damn, wish I wasn't blanking out on the name....maybe someone more knowledgable will come in or I'll find my links to fight it.

Spyware Warrior Forums (Search it) is very useful for fighting these.

My IE doesn't even work right anymore. Takes 10 minutes to load a simple page. And it's not that there's spyware (I have fricken 5 spyware checkers), it's that they've caused so much damage that the program just doesn't run right. And I can't seem to find the program to reinstall, just "updates" for it. Dumb MS.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Safari's my favorite ever, even more than Firefox. I just like the simplicity and stability. I tried IE the other day, and it was very very painful to use.

Actually, my only problem with Safari is that the entire page has to reload before it snaps back to where you were on the page if you back up. Is this something I can fix somehow?
