Damn the Dec. issue of OXM is THIN!

I bought it for the Forza demo (btw, yet another so-called "GT Killa" exposed as another pretender) and the magazine isn't even 100 pages.

My dad subscribes to that shit so I went through half a dozen demo discs upon returning to the USA. Half the fucking demos don't even work because Imagine/Future's disc mastering people suck a big hairy shlong. We will not be renewing our subscription.

Have you tried boiling the disks Sho Nuff? That usually does the trick. It really sucks that you have to do that to get the disks to work most of the time though.

I wish that XBN would be the official Xbox magazine. It's much much better then OXM in all areas (aside from no demo disk).

Exposed? How so?

I'd much rather play forza than another gt game, but hey I'm just an xbot that likes realistic racing games.

Seriously why all the forza hate? The only bad thing seems to be the ai, but they still have some time to fix it.

Actually, i have no problems racing around the track. It's just that the demo was a letdown for me. I didn't expect for it to be a GT Killa, hell they've been waiting on that racer since the original GT way back on the PSX, but i was a little underwelmed. Oh well, guess i'll be sticking with PGR2.

Sell your account, it's all over! Seriously. We'll see you later.

As far as that boiling disc thingy - are you people kidding? BOIL the discs to get them to work?

I've had to boil every disc except the last one. It's not my Xbox, everything else works. It's like makin spaghetti.

Bring a pot of water to a boil.
Turn off flame, put pot on another burner.
Insert disc label up.
Wait a minute or two.
Take the disc out.
Dry.

It's unbeliveable and I cannot imagine how many people just throw the disc in the garbage. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a demo disc.

OXM is a rag. XBN has at least content. XBN should definitely be the offcial mag.

As crazy as it sounds, it works. I've had to do it with a few OXM discs. I read why a long time ago, but don't remember exactly why. Basically you tie a string around it and float it in boiling water for around 30 seconds. I also had to do it for Burnout 2 last year, and it's worked ever since, no problem. I didn't believe it would work at first, but it did.

You can also bend them slightly, both ways, to get them to work. I did this with at least 3 or 4 DC demo discs.

Nope... I've only had to do it with one OXM disc, but it does work.

Also, OXM got a bad rap in the past mainly due to Mike Salmon. He was a stupid ass editor-in-chief and was responsible for most of the fanboy content. However, since he left, the mag has made huge progress IMO. I look forward to the content as much as I do XBN.

As far as Forza goes... it does what it is designed to do amazingly well. Thankfully, it reassured me that I am strictly a fan of arcade racers.

Hmm. I wonder if the boiling trick will work with this review disc of Mercenaries I've been having trouble with. Every once in a while, I'll get a dirty disc error and LOSE ALL PROGRESS. Really pisses me off. If I look on the disc itself, I can see a couple dirty spots I can't rub away.

By the way, Mercenaries = very very fun. And best explosions + smoke effects since ZOE2.

I would be interested on your thoughts about the demo and why you think Forza a pretender. I am only asking becuase I have never played GT nor any sim racer actually, so your commets are important. Thxs.

One of my friends wouldn't believe it either, until we actually tried it on one of his "defective" OXM disc... and got it to work.

Wow. Just when you think the day can't get any weirder. Boiling discs to make 'em work! Next thing you know, women will have the vote.

XBN shits all over OXM from a great height, btw.

I thought that nothing would ever replace blowing into cartridges as looney but effective "repair", and then came the boiling disc.

I fully expect to have to wrap defective memory sticks in a cold tortilla and warm them in my rear, all while singing in French of course.
