"Dance 360" Television show...anyone know about this?

(more a nerd than a geek)
A few weeks ago, I discovered a most bizarre thing on television -- "Dance 360". Upon hearing the name, my first assumption was that it was somehow tied to Microsoft (yes, I'm a suspicious little fellow)... but the show seemed to be a rather nondescript "urban hip hop" dance show with Apple as a sponsor, so I didn't think about it.

Anyway, I get home from teaching summer school today and I stumble across it again -- this time, however, it's at the beginning... just in time to hear them loudly talk about how the winner will receive $360 and an Xbox.

Does anyone know much about this? The website seems rather innocent, although there is a giant Xbox logo on their "prizes page" (above an Apple logo and a few other links). The cynical side of me says that this is an attempt by Microsoft to take over what the MS guys see as the Sony urban crowd -- the show LOOKS like something a latte-sipping MBA would dream up. However, it could just be a syndicated dance show that managed to nab a new corporate sponsor this year.

Anyone know much about this?

i know it is bad syndicated television. nothing more.

if there is association with microsoft, then it is just advertising, much like other events Microsoft/Xbox sponsors. hell, Microsoft/Xbox sponsor concerts in my area at times, not to mention skateboarding contests.

you make it out like microsoft is trying to do something that Sony and Nintendo don't.

Microsoft succeeded in marketing the Xbox to blacks and the hiphop crowd with its ludicrous size. (Ex: Cadillac Escalade)
Dance 360 is cool except when they chant the person's name over and over.
They offer the Xbox because black people like it, not because MS is endorsing it.
Dance shows like this have existed since as long as I can remember.

Fun note: Kel Mitchell of Good Burger / All That fame is one of the co-hosts on the show

element, he didn't even mention Sony or Nintendo in the original post. You're too sensitive by half. :lol

Eh. I was curious, as it looks like a weird "stealth" attempt to market Microsoft. If the show was labeled "Microsoft presents", I'd see it as normal marketing. The fact is that it seems somewhat recent and has the 360 in the name... it feels like a weird attempt to HIDE a corporate promotion. That's what I find so odd about it.

I'm just curious as to whether this is some weird sort of stealth/viral marketing, or just a coincidence. It's the name of the show that bugs me... it seems strange for the show to have the 360 name AND be sponsored by Microsoft, unless it was actually being mostly fronted by Microsoft itself. I'd just like to know if that's the case, or if it's just a "happy coincidence" for the MS marketing team.

Yeah it was around before the XBOX 360 name was announced. Was the Colgate 360 toothbrush and NASCAR 360 around before the XBOX 360 name was announced?

Come on, at least type 'Nintendon't'. You were so close! And they call this a gaming forum.

My friend that really likes You Got Served watches Dance 360 a lot. I really don't know about that guy.
