Dark Souls 3 PC performance thread

My experience so far after 3 hours:

System - Xeon 1230v3, OC GTX770 2GB (newest drivers), 16GB Ram, SSD

Settings - 1080p, Everything High (Textures on Max.), DOF, Blur, lightning on low and shadows medium

With that It's 99% locked 60fps with some drops here and there (mostly when alpha effects like fog are present)

No bugs, no crashes, but sometimes a little stutter when it saves (but mostly in Firelink during dialogues, never in combat etc.).

Very very pleased with my experience on day one. Except one thing ... What's up with multiplayer? Do I have to beat a boss first? I'm in
High Wall of Lothric
and no summon signs or invasions yet :/ It's too quiet for launch day... Too quiet...

So far getting a rock solid (from what I can tell with G-Sync) 60 fps with a 980 Ti and i5-6600K @ 4.7 GHz. Everything on max. To be honest I would be dissapointed if I didn't because the game doesn't look at all special, a lot like Bloodborne on PS4 but in higher res.

It's a bit lame that some people with equivalent systems are having such wildly varying issues. Like, I'm on a GTX 970 with an i5 4590 and 16GB RAM, installed to my SSD and I get unplayable stutter. I've died multiple times now from the game dropping to 5 fps for 4-5 seconds and not registering a block.

getting at least a crash every few minutes now. unplayable.

went on a 3-4 hours streak last night but today 3 crashes already. not even at a bonfire.

Turn lighting to low.

If that doesnt work, restart the game as a Knight, covering the head with full plate apparently fixes it. Don't ask me why. Worth a try.

I don't understand.....some of you have more powerful pc's than mine and the game plays at rock solid 60fps with everything at max @ 1080p for me while you struggle...

How is that possible?

Ok, for people who have the issue with ambient sound restarting.

If you have Realtek HD Audio drivers, then update them! (in my case it is version MSI 6.0.1.7730). It fixed the sound problem for me.

I totally need this - had a silent boss fight yesterday (second boss in the game). Music was loud and my character made noise, but the enemy did not.

As per other thread, I've temporarily fixed my frame rate issue.

Once in-game with terrible frame rate I alt+tab to desktop and then alt+tab immediately back into the game. Frame rate is fixed.

I've played DS1 and DS2 just fine on my current computer, but given that this is using the Bloodborne engine, is it even worth trying with my decrepit Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Radeon 7870 GHz edition?

I decided to go with 1440p as the aliasing at 1080p was bothering me.

Game looks much better and the framerate flutuates between 45-55. Not too bad so far. I'm using old drivers (358.91).

There's a small stutter with every auto save, though.

4790K
980ti

1440p, all max - Runs at a perfect 60 all the time (so far), no stutters when saving or crashing.

So you can't disable the ingame v-sync and use NVCP adaptive instead then?

So.. oddly, I get dips and dropped frames at 1920x1080, however if I run it at 2560x1440 I run perfect 60FPS.

i7-2600K @ 4GHz
980Ti Xtreme Gaming
8GB Ram.

Tried lowering the resolution so I'm getting a solid 60. Game still crashes the second I try to leave the first boss arena, in either direction.
Could be a problem with memory. If you haven't you should try the advice about increasing the size of virtual memory on your machine.

I quoted the helpful post on the previous page.

Updating to the latest Nvidia drivers which I was reluctant to do considering the problems they've been having lately did fix most of my complaints though.

Fairly smooth ride at high on 1080p now (i7 5820, gtx980) except for the save stuttering.

Yeah I tried that but no luck unfortunately. Also tried windowed mode per a suggestion but same issue. I've given up for now

The stuttering that happens during item pickup or killing an enemy is because the game autosaves and it is really annoying.

Are there problems with sli right now? I'm getting a rapidly flashing screen during cutscenes and many of the char presets have white faces in char creation. Tried adjusting some settings, but no luck.

Running in a borderless window seems to have fixed my crashing. Framee rate is around 35fps now though.

Phenom II 1090T
4Gb DDR3
Radeon 380 4GB

I was getting random crashing in Fallout 4 before I started running it in a borderless too so I think my pc might be just old and fucked.

Update on previous post:

Put in about 4 hours last night (most I've done in a game in over 6 months) and haven't had any glaring issues besides the occasional micro stutter when autosaving. Haven't had any CTD or visual glitches so far.

2500k @4.5
16GB DDR3 @2133
980ti 6G
1440 Ultra settings (motion blur and DOF set to off)

Also playing on a HDD. Should have installed on SSD now that I think about it but load times are super fast as is.

Basically it starts at 60 fps even if i dont move it will drop to 45 really fast for a second then go back up to 60, causing me to stutter, anyone else having this or know a fix?

I7-4770 @ 3.4
Gtx 980 Ti
8gig ram

Similar to my experience with SLI 980 and i7 4790.
I get smooth 60 fps on 1440p max, but in sometimes moving fast or running into another area causes frame dips to the low 50s withouth CPU load or GPU load rising.

Mine does it all the time! running at 1080, not even moving and it still does it

Do the latest drivers enable SLI? Or am I just fucked?

Also... no 21:9 support. Ugh....

Running a 280x, game runs fine, but I get slight stuttering/freezing from time to time, like when I put up a menu to write a message. Game runs smooth, but that's kind of annoying.

The stuttering that happens during item pickup or killing an enemy is because the game autosaves and it is really annoying.

Oh ok. So I'm guessing no amount of fiddling with the settings will fix this until they patch it?

I am using 6950 crossfire and a 4690k at 1080p and I was getting 60fps in the beginning area. The game defaulted to high preset. I only played for about 20 min. I will test with just 1 card later and report back. I feel you should be getting better fps with your setup. Maybe there is a different issue.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed at just how bad it is running, though at least it has been crash free. Parts of the beginning area ran at 60, but the majority a wildly hitchy, fluctuating 15-40fps. Auto-detect set everything to high, which is laughable given how poorly it performs. I'll muck around with it a little more after work today, see if I can eek out better performance.

But I'm determined now to grab a new Skylake PC. Even if I just pair it with a 380 to tide me over to the newer GPUs.

No it won't. The game stutters for a millisecond but it is still noticeable enough to be annoying. If the game stutters check on the upper right corner if you see a tiny flame it means it is autosaving and that is the reason for the stutter.

Weird issue.

I'm sometimes seing small colored pixels/dots on the screen. They're mostly green, but sometimes blue. Not typical GPU artifacting either, it looks almost like a particle effect that's completely misplaced.

Might want to check this out.

This driver tip really works for the 560ti if anyone is curious.

I played through the first 3 areas after the tutorial boss last night with the latest drivers (364.72) and could only manage half-v-sync 30fps with dips to 25 in problem areas, with all settings on low, at 720p.

After seeing that reddit post earlier today I switched to that 3 year old driver, and now those same areas run at 45-60fps with all settings bumped to medium (still at 720p, it's a 1GB card), and the previous problem spots only drop to the low thirties.

In short, try old driver, and therefore, use both hands.

GTX 760 and I5 3570k

Solid 1080p 60fps with SMAA injected, all the DoF, FXAA crap and blur stuff off, everything else mostly medium, textures max (can't see much difference between medium and max tbh).

Runs awesome!

I'm more than happy with the performance. I've maintained a solid 60fps at Max settings (High Shadows) with my now 3 year old computer (upgraded with a GTX 980). My only issue is the occasional system lock where I have to do a hard reboot. If that was fixed it'd be perfect. Only thing better than that would be to bring Bloodborne to PC running at 60fps. I can dream.

Bought a living room pc for this.. Alienware i7 6700 with gtx 970.

Omg @ the Bloodborne engine in 60fps 1080p

Controls amazing with an xbox elite controller.. So responsive.. Will be hard to go back to 30fps souls :(

Game runs pretty smooth (60fps with some dropped frames) for me @1080 with my GTX960 4GB. No crushes so far as well.

Frame rate drops to the 20s everytime the gameloads or I pick something up. While no loading occurs stays @60fps so far.

i72600k 4.2ghz
980ti sli
1440p Max settings
16gb ram 1333

Also is there any way to remove chromatic abberation? Its bothering my eyes.

There is no CA, are you using the AA option in game? FXAA may be making your eyes weep like CA does.

GTX 670 2GB (OC)
i5 4670k
8GB RAM

Only in the beginning areas but, 50-60fps(mostly 60) with 1080p and everything on high(textures on max.).

Impressed! Expected it to run in the 40s. Now if it just wouldn't crash everytime i'm near a bonfire...

I've played for an hour and game's already crashed twice, lol :( Should I update to the newer "Dark Souls ready" drivers? Hear there's been problems with nvidia drivers as of late.
