Ordered the fight for tonight and watching it with some buddies.

I predict that De La Hoya gets knocked the fuck out in the 7th round and I hope Hopkins is smart enough to retire soon after.

I too am waiting for this fight to begin and hope Hopkins gets mangled. It's gonna be a good one.

I am hoping for a good fight, but I am afraid Hoya is just going to be outclassed.

Yeah maybe your right. I would still like to see Hopkins lose a few teeth maybe then he'll have no choice but to get them fixed. :P

UD win for DLH. Its gonna be a good fight. I dont think DLH is going to run as much as people think. Hes gonna mix it pretty good.

:lol How can you hate on Hopkins? The guy had to earn everything he has the hardest way possible.

WTF I thought De La Hoya retired after his last beat down. I thought he was trying to be the next Don King only not rip his fighters off.

De La Hoya should have lost his last fight, I don't know how the judges scored him higher. Sturm had him beat. The Golden Boy's had more time to let his body adjust to the weight difference now though, and if he shows up tonight in prime shape (he was FLABBY in the Sturm fight) it could be an entirely different Oscar.

Still, my money's on B-Hop. I don't think he'll be knocking Oscar out, but he'll definitely win by decision.

I like Oscar... really... but #1 he got jabbed to death in that last fight... and #2 he has NO business stepping in with Hopkins... this fight won't go past the halfway point. Hopkins with the KO.

De La Hoya was good once. I'm sure he can be good again. The question is, is he? I don't think so. I hope he gets beat ugly. Maybe that'll also kill his singing career. :lol But seriously, he should probably retire. He's been doing good things for the lighterweight divisions on the promotion side. PEACE.

They just showed the Leonard/Hagler fight... man I'd forgotten how good Leonard was... he took Hagler pretty much completely out of the fight, used his speed, lots of head movement and made Hagler must badly... ALOT.... awesome display of technique over power.

hahaha Juantuan banged the shit outta Rubio... next. chimp where did you get that the cut was 12 inches?

De La Hoya needs to call it a career and focus on dicking down that bad-ass wife of his...before I do.

Thanks for the link, but I'm having trouble getting it to work... Media Player 10 didn't like it.

i dunno how far behind the tv broadcast that is, but it's probably too late to watch it now if you know what i mean

More of the same as Hopkins is in control. A left to the body and DE LA HOYA IS DOWN!!! HE IS NOT GETTING UP! IT'S A 10 COUNT AS OSCAR LIES ON THE CANVAS IN EXTREME PAIN!

HOPKINS HAS DONE IT AGAIN! HE KNOCKS OUT THE GOLDEN BOY IN THE 9TH!!!

W00T!

Spoiler tags apply to sporting events now? wtf?

Anyone record this?

Impressive fight by... Oscar... yup I was surprised at how focused he was, how he didn't run, how he came there intense and came to fight. But the conclusion IMO as I mentioned earlier was never in doubt. Oscar couldn't hurt Bernard, all he could do would be to outbox him for 12 rounds... and I just didn't see that happening... Bernard isn't slowing down, he's smart, he's strong, AND he's fast with good combinations and a good jab. If he had come out as aggressive as he fought the last 2-3 rounds the fight would have ended sooner.

Much credit to Oscar though, he looked and fought much better than I expected. From that interview I don't think he's ready to retire... nor do I think he should, he's still got enough left... not that he needs the money, I think it's just that professional athlete drive that isn't done yet.

As for Bernard I'd like to see him get in the ring with Roy or Antonio... I personally don't know how I feel about Tarver in terms of being legit... sure he blasted Roy, but I'm a what have you done for me lately person... and he hasn't fought again yet... so let's get moving... as for Roy... I've never liked him because I think he's too cocky, but I have always respected his in ring ability, I look forward to seeing him fight next weekend.

Coco I Tivo'd it.

yeah, i was actually suprised by how well Oscar fought. I expected Hopkins to take him apart, but he was actually dictating the fight more than Bernard was. Hopkins was definately picking up momentum and starting to pick Delahoya apart a little, it would have been interesting to see how this fight would have gone had it gone to the judges.

I'm glad it didn't go to the judges. I'm tired of that. I want blood in abundance and someone hitting the mat. That's boxing.

Best of all, it's free! This is the first Roy Jones fight seems like in 7 years that wasn't on PPV. I'm glad to hear that he has plans to come down in weight. I never liked Roy as a heavyweight/light heavyweight. He just doesn't have the punching power to overwhelm is opponents at that weight. He was going purely off speed and boxing skills. Which is cool, but it made for boring fights.

As for the fight tonight, I was also surprised how well De La Hoya did. He didn't back down or take rounds off. However, I also agree that if Hopkins fought the entire fight like the last 3 rounds, it would have ended much earlier.

Pretty good fight. I really respect De La Hoya a lot more after this fight, the guy can really box. I thought he outboxed Hopkins for most of the fight, but Hopkin got in a great (and lucky) body blow that ended that, but that is boxing it can end at any moment. I would have loved to see what would have happened if it went the distance, Oscar seems to fade in the last 3 rounds of a lot of his fights so he might have gotten knocked out anyways. I hope Hopkins does the smart thing and retires soon, but he is a boxer so most likely he is going to being a slow decline to being retarded (i.e. Holyfield).

:lol

I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but is there any chance of Roy and Hopkins getting into the ring? Or will they forever be held up over the money?

Hopkins doesn't seem to have any intention in moving up in weight case, or he would have already done it. Likewise, RJJ probably won't be coming down just to try and win against someone he already beat.

Although, that fight would be HUGE.

Well Hopkins did call him out at the end of this fight.. so we can only hope...

He did? What did he say?

I would love to see that fight before they retire...

Merchant asked him what's next and he said Roy Jones bring him on.
