That is a goddamn good photoshop right there. I'm officially on-board with this.

It's amusing reading people say that Cooper would be a better pick; even I thought he should have been cast as Starlord in GotG.

Can't go wrong either way but I do prefer Bradley overall.

I'd be fine with either as well, but Bradley can definitely pull off the professor thing much better than Pratt. Pratt needs to be like 5 years older I think.

He hasn't really had a serious role. We'll see how he does in Jurassic World.

Maybe. But when it comes to charm/action star-like quality for this particular role, someone said Bradley Cooper and that feels more in line with this role. Maybe not perfect casting, but more so than Chris Pratt.

Who knows, maybe he'll kill it in Jurassic World. I'm skeptical.

I agree with this. The series also has a 70s adventure film vibe (coz well, that's what it is), in that I don't think a reboot of it would really feel like the same thing.

Naughty Dog seems to be doing fine with the Uncharted series. It's not impossible to capture that vibe in the modern day.

I don't know how I feel about a total reboot. I'd be OK if they make another movie with him, but I need Ford in it and Pratt can't be Indy. If he were another archaeologist that takes up the mantle and maybe Ford passes the mantle as "Indy" then maybe that would work, but Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones.

That reminds me, wasn't Ford's participation in Star Wars contingent on being in a fifth Indiana Jones movie too? I remember that being the rumor and Ford being really keen on doing Indy again, but forget if it was a substantial rumor or a typical internet bullshit one.

Pratt has more charisma than most other blockbuster actors out there today. Why do you think he's so popular?

He's quirky, he's goofy, but his performances are so weightless. There's no gravity.

I mean, he's not Jai Courtney or Taylor Kitsch. He's got comedic chops, which alone makes him tolerable to watch on screen because those chops carry over when it comes to delivering lines with the right rhythm. But you compare him to someone like... say, young Brad Pitt, who was even a bit whiny and shrill, I just don't think they compare. There are a lot of actors I would take ahead of Pratt as a leading man in any franchise.

Granted, he hasn't much of a chance to show off his serious acting in these blockbusters (which I think was one of the big failings of GOTG but whatever) yet, but... eh. I just don't see it. Jurassic World will be godawful and, to Pratt's credit, it won't be his fault.

He could do it better than anyone else I can think of. Won't be as good as Harrison Ford, because Ford had an extra dimension to go along with the action and the comedy, but it will still be pretty good.

No shame to not be as good as Ford in his prime anyway. He was in a league of his own.

He'd probably be a pretty good fit, but the Pratt Express is going too much, too soon, too fast right now. Recasting him in a franchise role another actor owns while he's already threatening overexposure is the fast train to Shia-town.

I'd say put this on the backburner for 5 years, let his New Hollywood Darling phase cool over and let his star power set solidly before rushing him into more big roles. A little more age on 'im would make him an even better fit for the role, besides.

It's actually more like a 50's film serial, which kind of lends itself to an "Ongoing adventures of _____" perfectly.
Indiana Jones and Star Wars are both based on 1930s style serials.

Damn it. I get it, geeks like Chris Pratt. That's fine. I liked him in Parks & Rec. I get why fans of Marvel movies liked Guardians of the Galaxy. Fine, I have no beef with them.

But the man is no Harrison Ford. I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he has the acting range to pull it off. Choosing him to play Indy just reeks of Disney jumping on the latest hype. It's already a shame that a lot of the biggest movie just keep pulling from the same pool of actors, but I don't want it for Indy. It's the only nerdy franchise I really care about.

If I had to chose an actor, I'd go for Sean Patrick Flannery. He played Young Indy in the tv show, he's the right age now, and while that show was hardly worthy of the Indiana Jones-name, he really managed to pull it of when the script called for him to actually act like the Harrison Ford-Indy (as rarely as that happened).

I'm sure there are better choices than him, but at least he's better than Chris Pratt for the role. Pratt is great, but he just isn't Indy. I wish they went the Star Wars route, took this seriously and went for relatively unknown lead characters. I don't want the Marvel treatment for Dr. Jones.

Pratt's best playing a lovable well intentioned oaf. That's what made him great for Starlord, but it's not a great match for Indy. I'd be far more inclined to watch Cooper in the role.

edit: He didn't always look convincing in SFX shots in GotG either, had this weird look on his face whenever the helmet came off. You could see it in the bike chase scene in SW too, at least I thought so. It's not his strength. He's best bouncing off people and falling off things, not bouncing off nobody and falling off nothing.

Bradley Cooper wouldn't be a bad choice but he doesn't have the nerd appeal of Chris Pratt right now. Rocket Raccoon was great but people loved it because it was un-Bradley Cooper. He's such a vanilla choice, and nobody said the reboot would have to be the exact same character and personality traits as Ford's

Indy was never really a stale character, but I think Pratt could bring some more color to it all. I'm down. But of course it's also going to depend on the directors and scripts. Pratt playing Indy is only part of a bigger picture. Frankly I think there are a share of actors that could play the character, but if it's a reboot I don't think it really matters what changes they make anyway.

I would like to nominate Renner. He has similar acting traits as Ford, like not giving a shit when he doesn't care about the movie haha.

Guardians needed nerd cred, Indiana Jones doesn't. It's never particularly had it. They were huge blockbuster movies and helped cement Harrison Ford as one of the most famous and successful movie stars of the 80's. They don't need to cater to a demographic that has never had a particular association with the character anyway. Appealing to women is more important for a start.

Didn't Harrison really want to play Indiana Jones again? I remember rumors that him signing on for EPVII was contingent on Disney getting another Indiana Jones in production.

Why not Jeremy Renner?

I mean Sam Worthington?

I mean some other actor that was hot for a while and is basically forgotten now, much like Pratt's future.

I'm kinda skeptical of him in Jurassic World myself - but I think he could do Indy.

Indy isn't really all that serious a role. There's a lot of tomfoolery going on. What he was doing in Guardians isn't really that far removed, honestly.

Jurassic World is really his big test for breaking out of the "lovable well intentioned oaf" role. Everything he's done so far has been in that wheelhouse.

Parks and Rec: Andy
Her: Andy as an office manager
Zero Dark Thirty: Andy with a gun
Lego Movie: Andy as a lego
GotG: Andy in space

If he can pull off the strong heroic guy role in Jurassic World, then the sky's the limit for his career.

Jeremy Renner is far from forgotten.

And Chris Pratt is infinitely more interesting as an actor than Sam Worthington ever was.

Guardians alone will prevent this from happening. And Jeremy Renner hasn't been forgotten.

I... I kind of agree. I mean - he was great in Guardians, but he was more goofy than rogue. And Indiana Jones, as played by Harrison Ford, is the definition of a scruff rogue.

The character of Indy wasn't silly - some of the events in the films were ( the nature of the third film, especially, was light-hearted ). Ford gave the central character some weight and history, and his voice is as much a defining characteristic as his looks.

Chris Pratt certainly looks the part, but I still wouldn't see him as Indy.

I agree with this. Pratt looks good, certainly in that JP still but he is little more than goofy and some good comedy timing. Indy or Solo he is not but of course that doesn't matter too much, who knows what they will do with the IP. Doesn't ruin the three Ford films.
