That's impossible cause Pratt has had a hit movie
Basically.
That's impossible cause Pratt has had a hit movie
Given the history of movies based on video games, he played it safe.
It's amusing reading people say that Cooper would be a better pick; even I thought he should have been cast as Starlord in GotG.
Can't go wrong either way but I do prefer Bradley overall.
He hasn't really had a serious role. We'll see how he does in Jurassic World.
I agree with this. The series also has a 70s adventure film vibe (coz well, that's what it is), in that I don't think a reboot of it would really feel like the same thing.
Given the history of movies based on video games, he played it smart.
Lolso he's the lead in a marvel movie, a jurassic park movie, and an indiana jones movie?
dude is like king of nerd mountain
Why did Paramount sell the rights?
Sad but true. Would Chris Pratt own the role, sure. But the movie would likely drag him down.fixed
video game movie? based on Uncharted? lol
I don't know how I feel about a total reboot. I'd be OK if they make another movie with him, but I need Ford in it and Pratt can't be Indy. If he were another archaeologist that takes up the mantle and maybe Ford passes the mantle as "Indy" then maybe that would work, but Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones.

Pratt has more charisma than most other blockbuster actors out there today. Why do you think he's so popular?
Sorta like going from Sean Connery to Roger Moore.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars are both based on 1930s style serials. It's actually more like a 50's film serial, which kind of lends itself to an "Ongoing adventures of _____" perfectly.
Maybe. But when it comes to charm/action star-like quality for this particular role, someone said Bradley Cooper and that feels more in line with this role. Maybe not perfect casting, but more so than Chris Pratt.
Who knows, maybe he'll kill it in Jurassic World. I'm skeptical.
Can't knock this
Indiana Jones and Star Wars are both based on 1930s style serials.
nerd appeal has zero overlap/correlation/causation/etc. with quality acting
Bradley Cooper wouldn't be a bad choice but he doesn't have the nerd appeal of Chris Pratt right now. Rocket Raccoon was great but people loved it because it was un-Bradley Cooper. He's such a vanilla choice, and nobody said the reboot would have to be the exact same character and personality traits as Ford's

this is taking a mancrush too far brehAt least Pratt has a relatable backstory (waited tables in Hawaii striving for his break). Kitsch started in modeling.
Pratt's best playing a lovable well intentioned oaf. That's what made him great for Starlord, but it's not a great match for Indy. I'd be far more inclined to watch Cooper in the role.
edit: He didn't always look convincing in SFX shots in GotG either, had this weird look on his face whenever the helmet came off. You could see it in the bike chase scene in SW too, at least I thought so. It's not his strength. He's best bouncing off people and falling off things, not bouncing off nobody and falling off nothing.
He chose... poorly.
Plenty of people like his acting and charisma just fine and he's the hot new thing. Again we'll see how he acts in Jurassic World, regardless of how the movie does.
Why not Jeremy Renner?
I mean Sam Worthington?
I mean some other actor that was hot for a while and is basically forgotten now, much like Pratt's future.
Guardians alone will prevent this from happening. And Jeremy Renner hasn't been forgotten. Why not Jeremy Renner?

What he was doing in Guardians isn't really that far removed, honestly.
Lé Blade Runner;149394557 said:I... I kind of agree. I mean - he was great in Guardians, but he was more goofy than rogue. And Indiana Jones, as played by Harrison Ford, is the definition of a scruff rogue.
The character of Indy wasn't silly - some of the events in the films were ( the nature of the third film, especially, was light-hearted ). Ford gave the central character some weight and history, and his voice is as much a defining characteristic as his looks.
Chris Pratt certainly looks the part, but I still wouldn't see him as Indy.
