Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Releases June 26th, 2025

My favorite seemingly new additions to the game is the ability to fire your weapon while being dragged through “tar”. Could be context sensitive but we see Sam firing his weapon towards an enemy during a boss battle while they are sucking him in towards them.

I straight up do not enjoy the boss battles in DS1, unfortunately. Not only are they sponges but it’s not fun to experience constant gameplay interruption where all you can do is wiggle the sticks to break free. This looks to make combat against BT’d and the like more dynamic and compelling.

Combat looks greatly improved.

Sliding into cover, tons of new enemy types (large and small), and Higgs seems to be a much bigger factor with his enemy crew (cult?)

I hope this time we can macromanage the resources between locations (and leave the transportation to the machines), to focus the manual/personal deliveries to advance the story and unlock rewards or equipment.

One of the things that annoyed me the most in the first game was to put all the resources needed inside a vehicle to build something (like the roads) and travel to that location, or transfer resources manually between locations. It was tedious work that made me put aside the game for a while...

The the still needs tedium to a degree though, part of the enjoyment of building the world is experiencing how difficult it is before you connect/build it

With all the weather and destruction systems it seems the traversal will be a lot more interesting too

And now I'm forced to do something I thought I'd never do: mute Kojima on X lol. Posting stuff about the actors is one thing, posting spoilery screenshots is another, the less I see about this game going into it the better. As I've been saying since last year: GOTY incoming, can't wait, a lot of motherfuckers are going to kiss the ring, Ko-ji-maaaaaaaaa!

How do you like the trailer when there is weirdness in there that you don't like? Just curious.

I'm glad weirdness exists. Breaks up the monotony of all these other games.
Must have been the childhood trauma of going from MGS to MGS2. Felt like from weird and cool it went just full weird (I hated some characters/plot developements). Same goes for MGS3-4. I don't like 4. Guess I'm the weird one xD

II must admit this new weirdness is looking really cool.

Thanks for spoiling a large chunk of the game, Kojima... Dude can't help himself. Probably gonna make me buy a damn PS5.
I just hope this time around there will be less walking, more and better combat and vehicles that don't handle like an office chair.

Well said, the most iconic characters in video games are all original designs that was created from ground up. My issue with scan faces of famous Hollywood actors is that I no longer see the actual character, I only the see the actor which makes it difficult for me to immerse myself to their world.
Is that the same when watching a movie or TV show? You only see the actors?

In Movies and TV shows you just watching while in games you are actively controlling the character and interacting with world, there is a big difference between this two medium.

Wait, so are we going to Australia in DS2? One of the pre order bonuses is some "quokka" hologram which is an animal only native to south western Australia.

The end of the trailer also says that american gun culture also spread to a different continent.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Popped in some Death Stranding DC. Kinda forgot just how floaty the controls are. Hopefully the sequel tightens them up a bit.

And separate Audio controls for each element like music etc. Kinda surprised that kind of oversight was left.

Got burned on the first one, probably won't pick this up. Really wish Kojima had done something else.
Well he’s not against catering to fan feedback. One of their talking points is more action this time around if that’s what you’re looking for.

It’s interesting because Kojima does talk about “betraying your audience” and he certainly does that, as we saw with the Raiden swap in MGS2.
At the same time, he’ll talk about implanting changes according to fan feedback and said the reason he made a AAA game right after opening Kojima Productions was because it’s what fans expected.

Maybe the idea is to know when to subvert and when to reel it in.

More action would be nice but my main issue with the first game wasn't really the gameplay (though I did not like the gameplay), it's that the story was just bad. Huge narrative step down from even MGS5, to say nothing of MGS2-3.

In this video, she had a good analysis and opinion about DS2 and very familiar with the series.

While this video, from another vlogger has a much deeper dive and analysis of DS2 and also the DS series.

This videos are very helpful to really appreciate and understand the series.
