It's a remake of a niche, old ass game. What do you think the game will realistically sell this year?

Let's make it simple Do you think it cracks the top 20 YTD chart for 2025?Old ass game, sure, but niche? c'mon man.
And I think it's gonna do decently, maybe not CoD or AC Shadows numbers but it will probably do decent numbers, with Madden releasing the same month, it's probably not gonna be the #1 game of the month but I wouldn't be surprised if it bypasses DS2 easily.
The original Silent Hill 2 sold aprox. 1 million copies...MGS3 without counting the remasters and bundles has sold 4 million... so its a much more popular game.I think it might be close to a tie. MGS is overpriced. Silent Hill 2 had a lot of hype and didn't sell tons either.
MGS3 wont sell because its NICHE ? in a thread about Death Stranding 2 ? LoL ...It's a remake of a niche, old ass game. What do you think the game will realistically sell this year?
I would guess that pretty much everyone that bought DS2 will buy MGS3 remake.. and than theres all those that dont like DS but love MGS ... and thats just playstation.

Both games are niche but MGS3 much more so in 2025. The game is 100 years old at this point. If demand was that strong the recent MGS classic collection would have lit the charts on fire.MGS3 wont sell because its NICHE ? in a thread about Death Stranding 2 ? LoL ...![]()
It that happens you have my permission to change my avatar for a month.Yeah. I do.
And I already know someone's gonna snip this post if it doesn't.![]()

What happened to Kojima old and new creations that their games were degraded to Niche status? Both games are niche but MGS3 much more so in 2025. The game is 100 years old at this point. If demand was that strong the recent MGS classic collection would have lit the charts on fire.
Death Stranding 2 will do better overall because it's a brand new game from Kojima, not some sloppy seconds.
I'm still in a dream, Snake EaterWeird. When did gifs start playing music….or is that in my head!?
MGS is a franchise with almost 70 million sold games.... while DS2 is the definition of NICHE game, it wont sell even more than the first game because a lot of people bought and hated (me included) ... I think you coudnt be more wrong about your evaluation of a MGS remake. Its the easiest crow to serve in historyBoth games are niche but MGS3 much more so in 2025. I think that some of you thinks that Kojima relevance when is come to sales is more important than really is… IMO the Metal Gear franchise is way bigger than Kojima in that respect. Will see what happens with Metal Gear Delta.Right now, I'm going with DS2, because of marketing reasons, and how Sony handles first party, their scope and budget.
The MGS fanbase is an aging, very adamant fanbase, and without Kojima, it's hard to penetrate this ceiling. No, I'm not talking about Survive here.
Another important thing to note: Snake Eater was the least selling entry in the franchise, before Peace Walker and Portable Ops (mainline entries). Though it was significant, it was ~5 million or slightly more (not counting the Subsistence versions).
The real comparison will be when DS2 is out on PC, Xbox and Switch 2 later.
I want to see MGS outselling DS, but it's going to be very tough.
DS fanbase is the exact same one of MGS (minus a lot of people that didnt like DS proposition).... I would say even more.. DS fanbase its the extreme Kojima fanbase... I highly doubt this extreme fans that adore even his mailman simulator will not buy this MGS3 remake (which many consider to be his best game). And than there's all the rest of potential buyers.Right now, I'm going with DS2, because of marketing reasons, and how Sony handles first party, their scope and budget.

MC score is irrelevant when it comes to sales…DS2 is probably close to 2m now.
I think if delta gets 7-8/10's and reviews that say it's nice to play again but not perfect, it'll struggle to beat DS2 - but if it gets a lot of 9-10/10's and 'this is how you do a fucking remake' reviews, it'll beat it out easy.
Comes down to this. People will buy if its a proper done remake and runs well.DS2 is probably close to 2m now.
