Death Stranding Available August 23 with PC Game Pass

Right, but I'm just trying to figure out what the difference is between the og Steam game and the DC. Folks are saying the stuff that is being highlighted was already in the base game.
This stuff:
We are introducing more weapons, equipment and vehicles, a variety of new modes, missions and areas to explore, expanded storylines, and enhancements to the UI. We will also be adding new online features including Friend Play and Leaderboards, more news on that coming soon!

So what's different about the Director's Cut?

Is it going to be on xCloud?
From digital foundry:

the original Death Stranding port's 'default' graphics settings effectively delivered PS4 Pro quality to PC, with only limited upwards scalability. In the case of the Director's Cut, default now delivers the same improved visuals as PS5, which basically means that draw distance has been pushed out a touch while everything else remains much the same.

Conveniently ignoring the part where MS themselves mentioned the blocking part in an official response to regulators…

If they mentioned it in their response to the regulation authority then it has happened, at least once. Doesn’t mean all games are blocked of course.

The only games Sony probably blocks are those they either helped co-fund or have a marketing deal with and thus would also have Right of First Refusal to option when the time comes for that game to go to another platform's service.

In other words, nothing controversial, malicious, or under-handed. It's literally part of Business 101, almost every company does this type of stuff and will enact their Right of First Refusal when the opportunity comes. MS made it sound like Sony does this with games where neither of those criteria are at play but that is very likely not something which happens and if so, it's on MS to provide actual proof. Just saying it does in a court statement, with no proof, means nothing.

You have no idea what the extent of this policy is and just use your own bias to say it « probably » stays within a perimeter you find acceptable.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t - until we see what was redacted in the documents they provided to regulators we cannot know. I doubt MS would lie to regulators (the only entity in the entire world they are afraid of) so we know it happened and that’s all we know.

Also the RE8 contract was never confirmed real of fake, but it’s clearly not a game co-funded by Sony (don’t remember who had marketing rights).

You know.... I don't actually know. I assumed but it may not in which case I will just install it. That said, I do like having a cloud play option to "test" a game I may not be sure I will want to play. Hopefully it is cloud enabled.

are people really excited to walk around for hours.. AGAIN?

People are excited because is Death Stranding on Xbox Game Pass, but not on Xbox but who cares? It's the same, Sony is doomed

Just see Aaron Greenberg pic

"I doubt MS would lie"

Hoo boy 🤣🤣. Also obfuscating things or being intentionally loose with answers doesn't count as lying, legally speaking. The questions are still being answered, just at the bare minimum.

The redacted documents can say anything, but I highly doubt they'll reveal some conspiracy of Sony doing something that could easily get labeled as anti-competitive. The entire industry has Nintendo's 8-bit antics (and Microsoft's antics in the PC space in the '80s and '90s) to look to and say "Yeah, we're gonna avoid that BS".

For RE8 Sony had the marketing rights, so of course they wouldn't let a competitor get the game on a competing service to undercut their attempt to drive sales of the game on their own platform.

Definitely worth checking out if you haven't played it before. I had a lot of fun even though I'm not sure how far I made it into the game. I swear I spent 30 hours in the game helping build out highways and shortcuts to delivery areas instead of actually following the story.

We just know Sony blocks games for Game Pass, and likely does so as often as is possible.

We know this is part of the marketing deal for RE8 as is more than likely part of any marketing deal Sony is going to pay millions of dollars for. So saying they block games as often as possible is really limited to how often Sony engages in marketing deals.

Into the void, my friend.

Into the void.

The official website says it will have all the same features as the Steam and EGS editions.

I'm guessing just the new content is what is still restricted.

We'll find out for sure in 2,3 days anyway.

So is blocking other services for third party games anti-competitive or not? You say on one hand that yeah of course it happens and it’s normal and on the other that the documents prove nothing and it would be anti-competitive otherwise.

Is it also normal that the agreement requires the publisher to reveal how much MS offered to get the game on the service? Cause that’s in the leaked agreement but surely this is also completely in the spirit of fair competition.

Again, you have nothing factual, just an opinion that MS lies because they are bad and Sony cannot do anything anti-competitive because they are good. It also remains to be established that companies other than Sony do block other sub services.

Fuckin finally, I always wanted to try this game despite half of the world population viewing it with the kind of disgust a pastor seeing 2 gay men making out in a church would have

Is this a true statement?: “Death Stranding is a walking simulator”

I haven’t tried the game, but seen people say it is. So its deterred me from purchasing it.

It's a walking simulator but from the looks of it it isn't just holding up on the analog stick for 20+ hours

It's a walking simulator, but probably the highest budgeted one so far. There is combat but its low priority and in most cases you can avoid combat altogether.

It's more of a sneaking sim in those moments, but when the game opens up, especially online with the networks people provide and build through the "strands" ... there is very action game elements.

Yeah the game has a lot of social gathering elements that may or may not be to everyones liking. I'm not gonna lie, when I played it, the game became a REAL slog when you get to the snow mountains, the story was the only thing that primarily kept me going through the second half of the game.

True story:
The game came out right as I had my firstborn and the baby thing had its hooks very firmly in me.

I wish it was a walking sim!
There is resource managment
survival
combat
stealth
vehicles (few types)
suits
and building and tons and tons of stuff.

The game got more mechanics and gameplay than most your other games... it's just not a shooter. It is a game that has shooting
