Death Stranding |OT| Keep Walking, Nothing To See Here

Just playing around in post game. Holy crap these pizza missions are like the toughest! Delivery from Timefall Farm and you have to carry the champagne by hand. There are a number of MULES along the way. Dang I’ve tried this 3 or 4 times by now LOL

If i remember correctly you can enter a truck while holding down the "hand" button for the item and you will enter the truck with said item aswell.

yeah i never figured it out. i think i have some in a private locker somewhere. weird.

on the plus side, the lack of PLs has made me start relying more on ziplines. dang i totally overlooked these while playing the main game. ziplines rule SO HARD

I used Zip-Lines to achieve Legend of Legends on all deliveries in the first area. I just connected all preppers using ziplines and roads on the main map yesterday. Will go for 100% now, shouldn't take too long with the Zip Line network properly connected to the roads.

Want to try this game. I'm in need of a new experience and dont mind challenging myself.

One side loathes this game and one side praises to high heaven.

If it's not difficult I'll really consider but I don't want to grab a game that I wont complete.

yea its not that dificult. The only annoying part might be your first BT encounters. But its not that many and if you take your time with the encounters you pass them quickly and later in the game it gets alot more easy to just rush true them, kill them or even just get caught or run away from the next part.

And further more..Dont do any side missions till much further on if you want to do those. Just get to chapter 3 and traversal wil become much more easy

Have bought and installed the game but have not started this up yet.. Been playing too much MW 2019 on my One X.

On an unrelated side note.. Don't believe PlayStation has the better version of MW.. I have it for Pro also and the X beats it in Audio and Visual, the difference is quite noticeable. Patch updates have improved performance on the X also, with the Xbox controller, sharper high res image and superior audio, I can't play it on my Pro anymore, it def feels like a downgrade.

any tips on improving Bridge Links? i ignored it all game long, kept watching my star grow for everything but that, ended being the game with 0 bridge links. then i found the section and selected 30. now i have 79 bridge links, but it doesn't seem to go up or down. how do you improve that?

I posted this in another thread but just wanted to reiterate my thoughts in the OT now that I'm done with the game for the time being.

I finished the story at about 50 hrs, and just 5 starred every location at 98 hrs (finally). The game has been amazing. My zip line web is complete so I used that to travel most of the time and it gave me a good overview of the state of the world in my game. There's a sad aspect to this game that many will experience. Everything around me is corroding. I've repaired countless structures, but the world will slowly die as less and less players play. Eventually it will succumb to the timefall's will.

In a way, there's beauty in it all. It will be a blank world ready to be built up again one day. There might even be community events dedicated to it.

You know what would be cool? There are these events like Games Done Quick, combining both gaming and fundraising for charity.

Now doing something like GDQ wouldn't make sense (speedrunning Death Stranding kinda defies the entire point), but how about an event for a set period (say, 24 hours) in a completely blank world, where the task is not so much to deliver packages but to rebuild the world, with the associated fundraising for a good cause, naturally.

It would be thematically very appropriate. I think Kojima Productions would be onboard. There'd be enough participants from the player community for sure. Hell, even I could see myself participating.

...fuck this game, it seems to reduce my cynicism.

At this point, all I want from this game is a delivery randomizer...

Random origin and destination and a randomized, and fixed, set of conditions.

Conditions would be Chiral Network availability, Chiral storms (as seen in chapter 13), Chiral printer availability, Terrorist presence, Timefall zones, road availability, vehicle presence, different strand structures...

I just want challenge after challenge. The gameplay is just soooo good.

I wouldn't complain if they created mobile enemy units that roam the map, they could even follow your tracks (if they come upon them) to steal your cargo or kill you.

You add that and an ultra hard difficulty for combat, and I could see myself just playing this for a loooong time!

Taking this further, it’d maybe be fun if you could create ‘orders’ for other players, with these settings? Everyone essentially creating speed and challenge runs for each other, with the most liked getting more prominent placement.

You’d have a heads-up as to all the elements, or at least the difficulty level, which the game could auto-judge, and the rewards would scale with the difficulty.

Since it kind of breaks the immersion of the game, maybe introduce a new story element to explain this, or have it be post-game?

Well I’m 164 hours in now still got plenty to do. Right now investigating some canyons looking for lost monster figurines in the rain. I got earbuds on and the sound design is so sick. Love this game!

I can't wait to see what modders will do to this game when it comes out for PC. I may have to repurchase it.

I made some supply requests, but it seems no one is doing those.

I feel like HITMAN is a good template for where this game could go in terms of challenges

So I've played about 8 hrs of God of War (trying to give it a chance again) and it feels weird to say this but I'm more bored playing this game than in all my hours of Death Stranding. Everything is good except the actual gameplay which I find repetitive and boring, and I loved the older ones. I just put it on easy to get through it as fast as possible and still get the story (which I'm told is great).

Kojima, like the subtle sound of a snake in the grass, has once again heightened my awareness of the mediocrity in the current AAA games industry. Truly the GOAT.

I wouldn't put the new God of War as a prime example of AAA mediocrity, quite the contrary. Death Stranding is an absolute masterpiece though on that we agree, I sure hope its teachings pour down industry wide.

I agree to an extent, but this GOW is basically a slow moving movie (much like TLOU). The puzzles, which aren't really puzzles, don't add anything to the game and I wish they just left them out. The combat is pretty dull to me. What stands out are the environments, art and sound design, and the general world of the game. That is why I'll finish it.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
Is it normal that it takes forever to up the stars for some of these preppers?

For example the first prepper or the veteran porter?

Don't forget to scan for packages on the way while going to their locations. That helped with finishing locations faster, some far more than others.

I try to rest where ever i can in private rooms. After that they will write you emails. That helps with progression. But overall it takes like forever.

But i still love the gameplay.

Btw. i saw a cover for my backpack in different colours. Does it protect my delivery? Where can i get it?

Yeah they wear out slowly, but it protects the first layer of packages on your back. Above the first level is still exposed. I think one of the backpack covers is from the Collector.

Thanks!

70h of sacrificed time and there is still so much to uncover, detect, perceive, love and rage about!

I think if you go just one way in this game then there is no progression.

As much different various possibilities used for your daily jobs. That brings fun and the most gameplay feedback! :messenger_peace::messenger_fire::messenger_rocket:

Just when I thought I was done with Ep 3 area I find out there's a Veteran Porter. Never gonna finish this thing lol.

Same. Same location. I think I’m almost 50 hours in? Some people might have a laugh at how slow I am, but knowing this experience that I really enjoy is going to be around for so long, is really comforting.

To think, I was expecting nothing more than a typical ten hour game. I don’t know why, I just was. What a lovely surprise this has been.

GOW is one of my fav games this gen.. I love the Norse Mythology, the combat was so satisfying to me. Now I must say I have only played a few hours of Death Stranding thus far and I'm aware it's a slow burn and meant to pick up quite a few hours in. On a technical level what Kojima has done is nothing short of amazing, the game also legit looks gorgeous. But looking at it as an actual video game and not a form of 'art', it's very mediocre to me. The fun factor for me in Gameplay is a 0. It's too slow for me and the idea of the whole gameplay just delivering cargo A to B is just not for me. It's not a bad game but I'd aggressively argue that it certainly isn't GOAT.

I decided to turn down the difficulty to easy, which I never do for any game. Mostly I play on hard, but I actually think it's letting me enjoy the game far more. I'm getting the story faster, and I'm actually feeling like a god of war lol. I am prone to hyperbole and am reconsidering my initial thoughts as I'm getting further into the game. The combat is getting better now that I've got a lot more skills. The only annoyance are the repetitive enemies and fucking Atreus being an annoying twat at times. So far I'd give it an 7.8/10.

So does anyone know what the deal was with:

The mask? I mean why was Bridget wearing it? I get that Die Hardman wanted to hide his identity after he faked his death and said he wore it to hide burns as an explanation but I really don't understand why Bridget had it on in the BB lab. Was it purely a plot device so that we didn't notice young Bridget looked just like Amelie?

I beat this game and enjoyed it, but damn if I didn't feel misled. I thought Kojima's writing was going to be a lot weirder and challenging than it was. The story doesn't really go anywhere, it just wallows in the metaphors it's been wallowing in since it was announced. I never got a big "A-HA" moment. It's a relaxing game to play but also a very bland one. I enjoyed my time and will be trading it in.

With that said, does anyone have any suggestions for well-written, challenging games that aren't quite on-the-nose with their plot explanations? Spec Ops: The Line comes to mind, Bioshock, Talos Principle, etc.

Anything from SuperGiant games

That's probably why. It's stupid and doesn't work at all, but that's probably the reasoning behind it. It's dumb for die hardman too, and so is his name after finishing the game.

no, i think there is more to it than that. people wear masks at different points in the story. Higgs even takes it off at some point. there has to be a more thematic meaning IMO than just covering your face.

no idea at this point tho. i'd imagine you would need to play through the game several times to start drawing those kind of connections.
