Deathloop delayed to September 14th 2021 (Prev release date: 21st May)

Jim is a liar, I want this man gone by the end of the year.

This implies XSX/Switch owners have it any better, so far this year they've had Monster Hunter and The Medium. That's about it. Not a Ryan problem, it's a COVID problem. It's gonna be an incredibly weak year all-round.

Crack open the backlog, boys!

And when microsoft will start delays some games, people will start making many excuses.
That's hypothetical. I'm talking reality.
I think Microsoft got their big blunder out of the way with Halo Infinite.

They didn't promise a ton of "next gen only games" for the launch window and fail to deliver on both of those aspects. Gotta be fair.

Sony is looking bad lately, but point your finger at Microsoft? Well, if it makes you feel better.

Slowly morphing into a troll.
Not at all, just getting increasingly pissed off with just how bad Jim has handled the launch of the PS5, I was so hyped going into launch and so far the PS5 feels like a lousy investment, not saying the other next gen systems are, just expected better from Playstation.

Gotta hope Ratchet comes out on time now.

That is a weird delay.
I would love to know what happened behind the scenes.
They were probably highly encouraged by Sony to release earlier. "Let's plan for May and see what happens. At least then we can announce it as a launch window game." There is clearly a pattern with Sony.

Release it early? A game planned by the own dev to holiday 2020.

We all saw that with Cyperpunk lol
C'mon.

CDPR aren't currently owned by by the fourth largest company on planet earth. Cyberpunk was literally the only thing CDPR had going, the bosses couldn't wait any longer and it backfired tremendously.

It's exactly why you're going to see publishers become far more comfortable with delays. Nobody wants a Cyberpunk on their hands. MS would probably give Arkane even longer they said they needed it.

I for one like this, all of these companies are giving me a chance to catch up on my backlog and just enjoy the games i own. Never has this happened in my adult life!

So, this holiday season and the cusp of it is looking stacked for the wrong reasons, hahaha. At least there will be a lot to play during holiday vacation! 👀

I honestly wasn't expecting Deathloop to be delayed as it felt like they were confident about it. But hey, it's all good!

I think Sony encouraged them to shoot for, or at least pretend to shoot for the earliest release possible, yes. I'm basing this off how squirrely they have acted regarding Horizon and GOW when it comes to being cross-gen and being released in 2021.

Maybe I'm suspicious of them now, sure. They've earned it.

"I'm glad everyone else has to wait, because I'm not ready. I rather others wait then have to see my own backlog grow even more."

Just teasing! I get where you're coming from and I hear that sentiment a lot. I just find that it reads sort of funny from a certain perspective.

yeah the company that release the critical acclaim unfinished sea of thieves, grounded and that ninja theory that i forgot the name (probably everyone else as well) was almost about to release halo infinity

Obligatory "we all knew this was gonna be a bad year for those that hate delays, keep expecting much more of this" post.

"Tacitus_kilgore" getting all triggered up in here lol. Check his post feed. It's constant reactions to console warring coming from him. No opinions to share for himself. He mad though.

Thank goodness. May already has Terminator (April 30), Resident Evil, Mass Effect, and Nocturne for me. I was gonna have to ignore the game.

Arkane is a fantastic developer whose product I will play based on that pedigree alone.

But they did delay Halo, because it's their flagship. Sea of Thieves was boring at launch but not broken. Bleeding Edge was shit but nobody was paying attention to it anyway, and Grounded literally isn't even out yet, it's early access.

Point is, MS just paid a lot of money for a bundle that includes Arkane, and Cyberpunk happened in the meantime. People have seen just how bad it can get. You're gonna see every publisher being very careful.

They probably dont want to get buried in may. Capcom tends to hits their dates and with Resi 8 and Mass Effect remaster generating hype, no one is looking at Arkane..again.

thank god these machines have BC.

fall/holiday lineup is going to be flooded. which also means some games will get trampled.

They should low-key release it on the same day as CoD and then make a huge deal when it comes to Game Pass a few months later.

What is the obsession with Jim ffs?? How can he account for delays due to the pandemic??
You realise you can sell your PS5 today for a tidy profit? Why don't you do that?

just got pushed back to sep 2022 at least. better prey dont go even further

PC version too? Thought it was only a timed exclusive on console. Anyway, not really the game I have to play Day One. Still haven't touched Dishonored 2, but looking forward to it. Bethesda should focus on releasing Starfield this fall.

Lol the Switch has had a great year so far, Bravely Default 2, Mario 3D World, and MH Rise so far.

Delays are going to happen. People need to temper their expectations. I would have thought the dumpster fire release of Cyberpunk showed the need to delay games if the company is not hitting the mark. I would have thought Deathloop would have worked out with the May date but, hopefully it doesn't get lost in the shuffle later in the year. Good Developer and glad they have the extra time.

Cancelled my preorder since that's around my bday and I'll just get the other half to buy it for me

And went to preorder something else and Welp nothing really there I want.

Oh I agree, if I was looking forward to this game I would be disappointed. I'm looking forward to this game, but won't be buying day 1. My comment can come off of as tone deaf.

Nah Ratchet is safe because of insomniac being efficient as hell. Delay that replay of Horizon Zero Dawn because that sequel is 2022. Sony should also just rip the band aid on GoW ragnarok. Also remember FF 16 is tentative 2021 too, not happening.

Will this be on Gamepass (PC) Day One? Could be another funny move by Phil the Torturer.
It's an interesting thought. The timed exclusivity pre-dates the Bethesda purchase, so would Sony have thought they needed to contract so that it couldn't go anywhere else?

There might have been some comcern of PC deals making it the "DE facto" version of the game and taking away from the PlayStation release - such as DLC or extras - that might cover Game Pass without covering Game Pass, but that would've been pretty prescient.

My default would be expect it on PC Game Pass until evidence comes to the contrary tbh.

Ratchet and Clank, GT7, Returnal to name a few. But alright.

GAF needs to add an emoji for brain damage. Like getting brain damage from reading a post.
GT7 coming next year, Returnal looks average. Ratchet looks amazing. Horizon and Deathloop look great but aren't coming till near end of the year. So one great first party title till Q4.

Amazing launch year!

Sony takes another hit. Getting pounded lately.
Not a big deal by itself, but they're looking bad in 2021.

- "we believe in generations" nonsense.
- Microsoft's Bethesda acquisition
- $70 games
- Losing studio heads, closing fan favorite studios.
- MLB hitting GamePass
- potentially losing Kojima to Microsoft
- now just wait for God of War delay announcement, which we all know is coming.
- probably Horizon as well

I've owned every Playstation console except for Vita. I love Death Stranding, Spider-Man, and TLOU. You can't call me bias. I'm calling it like I see it.

All this doom posting when Sony is dropping two exclusives in the next month

Meanwhile, Microsoft won't have a next gen game until 2022...but hey, some cross gen game you don't care about is now day 1 on GamePass
