Introduction (from T-K):
In this imaginative follow up to the classic Tecmo title ‘Devil’s Deception’, first released in 1996 on the PlayStation®, players can get a taste of what it’s like to play on the side of evil. Much like its predecessors, Deception IV: Blood Ties is a strategy focused action game revolving around a deceitful main character known as the Devil’s daughter who, assisted by three Daemons, defeats her foes through trickery.
Deception IV follows the story of Laegrinna, an animated fragment of an imprisoned Devil’s soul, as she battles her enemies by mischievously luring them into strategically placed traps. From rolling boulders and spiked walls to spring boards, Iron Maidens, human cannons, falling bathtubs and banana peels, the player can choose from a multitude of dramatic, sadistic, and comical traps in order to finish off an enemy.
Main Character: Laegrinna
Known as the Devil's daughter, she is said to have been birthed from a splintered-off fragment of his very soul, although the truth of this is shrouded in mystery.
She has stepped out unto the mortal realm accompanied by her three Daemons in order to collect the Holy Verses needed to break the seal that imprisons her father.
Without a trace of pity or emotion betrayed by her deep gaze, she summons and sets trapsto dispose of humans who get in her way.
The Daemons: Caelea, Veruza, Lilia
Caelea, the Daemon of Elaborate Death.
She values the mission above all, but encourages Laegrinna to honor the Devil's glory with spectacular displays whenever possible. Her allegience, pride, and sense of duty toward the cause are unswerving, to the point that even those closest to her know precious little about herself.
Veruza, the Daemon of Sadistic Torment.
She has a love-hate relationship with humans: while they are the objects of her wrath, she also takes extreme pleasure and enjoyment in their cries of pain. When not excited by these cries, her mood ranges from easygoing to bored and listless. Her general demeanor is calm and dripping with self-assurance.
Lilia, the Daemon of Humiliating Demise.
Cheerful, playful, and full of laughter, she takes the form of an innocent-looking young child, and loves nothing more than to watch laughing as she takes away the dignity of humans with her pranks. Everything she does is for the sole purpose of having fun.
How to Play:
The basic gameplay is simple: set your traps, lure enemies into them, and look for the right timing to activate. Connect into other traps to form combos until your enemy is finished off.
Traps:
This is the heart of the game, so I don't want to put all of them here in case someone wants to discover them on their own. I'll just show one example of each kind.
Sadistic - Bloody Scissors
Elaborate - Spark Rod
Humiliating - Delta Horse
Cool Features:
Upload to Youtube (Playstation 3 version only) - Before viewing a replay, you can choose to upload it to YouTube. If this option is chosen, the video will be encoded as you are watching, and uploaded once the playback is complete. During the playback you can move the camera freely and press buttons to play laughing, screaming, or cheering audio clips, which will all be reflected in the uploaded video.
Cross-Quest Mode is where you can take on missions downloaded from other players, or create your own to upload online. This is the place to pit your trap skills against other players around the world.
Costumes - As Laegrinna grows stronger, she gains the ability to unlock a variety of costumes.
