Demos with lots of content/gameplay? (PSN/XBL)

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
After checking out the absolutely amazing NGS2 demo and being floored by now much content it has, I was wondering if GAF had any other suggestions for demos (PSN only for me, but for the purposes of the thread, XBL is fine too) with a good amount of content/gameplay to them. Anything good, GAF?

the mirrors edge demo blew me away when it got release. just play the demo and forget about the rest. you won't miss much.

:lol

That demo sold me the game. Only $10 though, so the price was right.

Unless the demo contains every time trial map from the retail release...

If you've got a PSP, the Patapon 2 demo is ridiculously meaty. I played for about 4 hours grinding items and buffing my classes in the generous amount of levels it gives you. Its save and everything you earned in it can then be tranferred directly into the full game and you can pick up right where you left off.

NGS1
NGS2
Bayonetta
RE5
Lost Planet 2
MAG
GT5(small download size, but if you're a racing fan you can play that shit for a while)

I wasted hours in the Saint's Row 1 demo. That's difficult to download now, though. Probably because of the glitch that lets you push through the demo barriers and out in to a (mostly broken and crash-happy) city.

The Burnout Paradise demo was another good one.

The Banjo: Nuts & Bolts demo is also good. Just one level, but there's enough in there that if you really want to do and find everything it'll take you at least an hour.

The Viva Pinata demos are also amazing - you're limited to how many Pinatas you can have in your garden and what types, and your garden can't get very big, but you can still spend hours upon hours fooling around with it.

The demo for the first Skate is playable nearly forever. You get a good amount of time in the community center each time you start it up. The first few challenges can be blown through quickly then you can skate your heart out or do more.

Lost Planet 2 Demo (especially PSN version has tons of added levels)
Bayonetta Demo
MGS: Peace Walker PSP Demo
Yakuza 3 JPN Demo (only on Japanese PSN Store)
Dante's Inferno Demo
God of War 3 Demo

Real chunky demo's to be found in all of the above.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo

You can replay the last room (for the demo) over and over again. If you only go through it once, it's approx. 20 minutes long.

I remember having a lot of fun with the Uncharted demo, trying it on the multiple difficulties.

My most played demo ever was the Battlefront 1 demo, but I know thats not Psn/Xbl.

Edit: oh Burnout Paradise is awesome.

Dead Rising demo on XBL, of course.

It's better than the game is!
I won't lie to you, I wish the whole game was more sandboxy like the demo, without the crazy hard bosses and Otis phone calls.

It's not super long but you can play the Red Faction Guerrilla demo over and over, the destruction is so much fun.

There's no crazy hard bosses in that game if you have the mini chainsaw,.

And an recent example is Divinity II demo, the tutorial + a new location to explore + side missions + equipment to buy/sell, etc.... The demo features a few hours of fun.

Fable 2 on XBL. It's literally 1/4 of the game.

I hope not, that means the full games is 8 hours...

I was impressed by the GT5 Prologue demo.
New cars unlocking in sync with their first ever unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show. Magic!

Phantasy Star Universe demo on XBL. Demo characters are supposed to be wiped every month. Allows you to go to few worlds but idk how much you can explore.

People are selling porn for money in the game though :/

The Saint's Row demo was sooo awesome. and Crackdown, that demo sold me too. and the Battlefield Bad Company demo was so good, they hd to shut down the demo servers because people were playing that 1 map for free over and over instead of buying the game!

bad company2 beta was SOO MUCH ... i had a total of i think 20 hrs lol
162 hours!

I thought Bioshock had the best demo this gen.

I never completed the PSN demo, but I think it's the same.

Viva Pinata

If you told me it was the full game without being able to save, I'd believe you.

...except like 10x more of the content that made the demo awesome.

Viva Pinata has a pretty long demo.

That's like a tradition for Battlefield games.

The 1942 Demo has been up and running for years. I Don't know if the servers are down nowadays though.

Infamous PS3 demo has alot of gameplay. I think it has like 3 missions showcasing both good/bad styles of gameplay.
One of the best and meatiest demos I have ever played. Took me over an hour the first time through and it was pretty replayable.

Super Sprint (psn) lets you try out all of the tracks for ten minutes and then kicks you back to the start menu afterwards to start over again. Considering you get the entire game besides the car upgrades it is well worth having.
