Welp, guess I don't get to play tonight. Keep getting a connection error, code centipede x.x

i don't know if it is the same trouble i had but yesterday it wouldn't connect to the server so i logged out of my account on ps4, and logged back in. then i tried and got in no problem.

that strike mission is so damn fun, i can't wait to play more of them and story missions... and just exploring new places in general.

i played the strike mission today on legend and it actually wasn't that bad. didn't feel a whole lot different from brave. still, felt good when me and my teammates beat it.

Here is my current wep.

The added flame damage is nice. Able to take out the bosses pretty well with this.

Chased some poor bastard around a rock for a full minute and a half on the moon PvP map in the tank. I was going to stop since I couldn't catch him and then I was like..

Why? I'm in a tank. He can do NOTHING to me if I know where he is.

Chase continued, eventually got him.

If the PvE damage on the weapons don't affect PvP, that's great...but stats like Impact seem,

And I can't find a new rifle that's not level 9 or higher :(.

Played the Strike mission with 3 level-8's and the bosses didn't take ungodly long this time. The more I play this game the more I like it. I just hopped into a random strike team and ended up having a great time. Hopefully I'll be able to get in some more PvP matches tomorrow before things wrap up.

I think the Hunter >>> all at these low levels, but Warlock gets a teleport jump upgrade so the classes probably start having more identity later. Who know how class balance breaks down at later levels.

Double jump and throwing knife are just so good at the lvl 8 cap though.

at 15 I know Titans get a drop-shield as well.

Really enjoying the game, but the UI bothers me a lot. Not the design itself, which I think is beyond amazing... but the actual usability. Having to move a cursor around the screen isn't the most optimal option.

It gets worse when you have to select the next place to travel to, and after you hit the location then you have to press a button on the other side of the screen.. on PC this would work easily, on PS4 it's just an extra meaningless step. Hopefully they do something about this because otherwise I LOVE the game (otherwise I wouldn't have 2 Destiny shirts either...).

Damn where are you guys getting all these souped up primarys? I've literally turned into jelly.

Others might have stronger but both my primary have 106 for attack stat. My scout rifle was from an encrypted engram and my auto rifle/assault rifle was in the shop.

Both started at 96 and I applied an upgrade to get them to 106.

I got into one of the monster closets yesterday afternoon. It's the building at the top of the hill. There are a couple crates by an entrance with 2 fallen vandals and a fallen captain. They spawn in the room straight in from the entrance. I sat in the room and watched them appear out of thin air over and over again, as I killed them. They couldn't see me in the room until I would start shooting. I spent 5-10 minutes there farming ammo and XP before getting bored. It doesn't work for me anymore, so I assume it was a simple bug. Still pretty funny though. If it was the full game, I'd probably have just stayed there until I reached lvl 20.

I was playing the cosmodrome today and a random csme and flagged me over. He took me along this narrow ledge underneath a railing that I thought looked at nothing but a skybox. Turns out there's a lvl ?? Hive Knight sitting there. My 81 auto rifle and 96 fusion rifle did zero damage. My big, honking machine gun was doing 1hp of damage per bullet. I was all thanks but no thanks and dipped. PEACE.

Does the whole multiplayer aspect not work for anyone else? Because I haven't seen a single player in 3 hours. Strike and crucible don't start either. So after 3 hours the whole point of the game is still absent.

No dice. And the support site basically says tough luck if trying again doesn't work lol. Dunno what's up. Connection's fine otherwise, PSN is working fine, just Destiny not letting me in all of a sudden x.x

My weapons still suck and haven't really bothered trying to farm anything. The open world reminds me of a small scale Defiance with 100x the budget. So far pretty fun.

Encountered my first random event. A Warsat. I had it at 99% when I ran out of time :(

So I powered my way through the lvl 20 area to see what it was like, and the game welcomed me with an angry count-down that started eating my screen and it wouldn't let me record video in that area :(

Played this for a few hours this afternoon. I'm almost up to level 6 but haven't done the Strike mission yet, just the story mission and a bunch of random quests. The bad news is the quests aren't particularly compelling, and there's not enough stuff running from quest to quest to keep you occupied. I know Luke Smith said something about the exploration stuff being a lower-intensity activity, and that you (hopefully!) won't be forced to do exploration out of a lack of content when the game launches for real, but right now there are periodic stretches where you're just walking somewhere or picking off one or two low-level stragglers. The story mission wasn't bad, but there wasn't much meat to it either--basically felt like a string of smaller quests, but with Peter Dinklage talking at you occasionally.

The good news is that the game feels pretty good, and I say this as someone who spends most of his time playing shooters on PC instead of console. The level scaling on enemies is kind of ridiculous. When I first started the alpha, I ran into a pack of level 8 enemies and it took ten minutes to finally kill them all because they were such bullet sponges. But the actual fighting during that encounter was surprisingly fun. Enemies actively dodge and try to get behind you, and often I'd try to surprise an enemy coming around a corner only to find they'd anticipated me and gone behind me instead, so that was neat. (I guess this is the sort of thing people said about Halo, too, but I guess I never played at a high enough difficulty to see it.)

I like the feel of the guns, though so far they're pretty standard fare so it's not like Bungie's doing anything incredibly novel yet. Old Russia looks amazing--the skybox in particular is gorgeous. And I think Bungie's done a decent job of integrating multiplayer into the game without making it overbearing--something that's currently a pet peeve of mine thanks to Watch Dogs. You never have to stop what you're doing because some online player wants to get into your game, which is fantastic. The gentle nudge the game gives you via public events and such was nice, too, allowing me to jump into an "attack the mining bases" encounter with some other random dude without so much as a matchmaking screen.

It's all very MMO-ey, but so far Destiny hasn't given me the theme-park stench I usually get off MMOs like The Old Republic or Star Trek Online or Warhammer (the only other traditional MMOs I've tried). There's no lining up to talk to the starter NPC to get the quest to shoot the level 1 rat to get your 40 XP, but I can't tell if that's an intentional decision on Bungie's part (if so, KEEP IT) or just because the alpha population is relatively low. The one time I did get that theme-park feeling was returning to the Tower and finding swarms of people talking to all the vendors, which is not my favourite thing but I guess at least gave the city a feeling of being populated. The first time I went to the Tower, there was no one, and I was left to wonder why the last city of humanity was this gleaming, utopian wonder scrubbed almost completely of, well, humanity.

In the end, I'm shocked to say that I'm actually looking forward to this game a little now. If you'd told me a couple of months ago that I'd be saying that, I'd have called you crazy.

I have no more FPS complaints, did something change? It's a smooth 30fps for me now.. the game clicked for me, and I'm so looking forward to beta. Had an incredible time with it today.

I found some heavy weapon ammo, and was able to fire my RPG once.

How do you get to the car graveyard?

Here you go!

How to get to the cool car area, by Gaz_RB:

1) Spawn in Explore mode.

2) Head to the right for awhile until you see a building on the edge of the area that leads to the next area.

3) Walk through the linear connection hallways until you get to the next area, The Divide, which is sort of a wide open area with lots of enemies around.

4) Head to the right from where you entered again, towards the edge of the area once again. The cliff/water should be on your right. You should see burnt out tanks. On that far wall to the right by the burnt out tanks, there is a sort of cave entrance thing that's kind of hard to spot. Head through there and it's just a linear connection to the car area.

I don't know if this has been pointed out before (I would assume so), but:

after some twisting and turning, this map gives us a better idea of how the alpha's playable area compares to the map we've been teased with for quite a while:

Not sure if this has been asked/answered already, but are my skills leveling from use, or does XP from kills just gradually add into each one. For instance, if I keep using my grenade skill, is my upgraded grenade skill leveling up from that.

I'm pretty sure it's based on use.

Just played again tonight between two worldcup games. Killed the spider with two strangers on PSN, reviving each other. I'm not a FPS/MMO pro (far from it) but all I can say is "what a game!!!". I hope I can get in the BETA without preorder since the price 70€ here, but for sure sure I'll be here day one. There is so different to do. I didn't saw any bug, the game is smooth.
DAY ONE.

I've only watched Twitch streams of the alpha, but I cannot wait to get my hands on this game now. It's funny that not long ago everyone was complaining about how bad a job Bungie was doing of explaining the game, because it's clear now that they knew it would just easier to let people play it pre-release and stream it. Whether or not it was intentional, this alpha has proven to me that things like Twitch and Youtube are so much more effective for advertising multiplayer games than traditional means. What's the point of trying to get people to understand Destiny when they can understand it immediately by playing an early build for free or watching someone else do so?

The way the UI moves around slightly alongside the cursor makes me want accelerometer control in the final version, like the way it works for text input. Would be a good use of that feature.
