Does anyone else feel like you should be able to initiate a Strike or Raid mission seamlessly through Explore? Or is that already in and I am missing it?

Otherwise, it seems if you're exploring and in a fire team and want to tackle a mission together, you first have to go up to orbit and then back down again to start the mission.

They do, but the idea that the strike bosses are bullet sponges is just wrong. People are doing the encounter incorrectly. Do people really want these encounters to take 1-2 mins for the average group? Which translates to taking 30 secs-1 min for a group that knows what they are doing. Talk about boring.

I'll be really disappointed if they alter the strike bosses/etc because of the feedback from people who are doing the encounters incorrectly.

I agree. There should be some good communication. When you get a good group it takes much less time and it gets really fun. Especially when you chain build up supers. I had a good group that just nailed the run. I will put that up on youtube as a how to fight the bosses. It's quite intrusting.

Bungie, I love you. You better make things worth my while if I miss Game of Thrones.
I rely on HBO go, don't start until 9:15 anyway, so I will be there!

Though I read somewhere about the citadel gets attacked, could it be true?

My favorite thing to do in the game now is jump off a high cliff, summon my vehicle and try not to nose dive into the ground

Yeah... Being able to queue them up like in FFXIV would be nice.

I honestly didn't think i'd get access to the Alpha test, had my beta code registered for a month. And suddenly on Friday evening, go to check my emails and there is a email from Bungie giving me an Alpha code (email came out an hour before i checked). Thought it was registration only via the site, oh well.

Spent a few hours on Saturday doing a few missions, i say a few it was 1 (and i failed at it). Couldn't defeat a Wizard, and couldn't figure out how to do it until someone found me and took it on with me. He told me afterwards how to defeat one, and i've had no problems since.

Sunday, that was where the fun began. Spend a few more hours doing random missions, visiting the tower and getting upgrades. It's nice to be able to wander around the Tower seeing other players doing the same thing. And even more so seeing others in various levels across the game taking on the enemy whilst you are doing a mission. Of course, i got side tracked a few times. Even had a random public mission pop up, we seemingly joined up together and took it on.

It's a shame the Alpha has to end (yeah, i know there are 7 hours before the servers close, but life has called and needs me to go to bed for work). Bring on the beta in a few weeks time. Until then, i got a few images.

Beep, beep.

Will you be able to do quests with more than 3 people in the final game? iirc in one of the trailers there were like 6 people fighting together.

Questions, I'm sure they've been answered but not sure what to search for... There are three areas on earth for coop play? And the first two are pretty much the same, but the second of the first one is a sort of free-roam with fetch quests all over? Does the second one drop random bosses at all? I was in the first area and following a couple of dudes around and they just disappeared - not sure if they quit or I was disconnected.

So been playing over the last few days and overall I rather like what I've played though of course I wish there was more. Definitely looking forward to seeing how much the beta may be expanded.

Never tried PvP since I've never been huge on that sort of thing, but maybe I'll try it in the beta.

Hunter is still looking like my preferred class though to my surprise I enjoyed Titan quite a bit. Just wasn't feeling the Warlock.

One thing I'll say is that I was really changing weapon load outs quite often. Preferred was Auto Rifle and Handcannon. What irritated me a bit was that whenever I switched special weapons I lost all ammo for it and had to wait till enemies dropped some.

I probably didn't go as deep as others might have but I liked the taste I got.

So there's some big event tonight then? Will it be in Explore perhaps? It would be great to see a lot of players all at once.

Thank you bungie and sony for giving me the opportunity to participate in the alpha this weekend. I was on the fence, but after having spent quite a few hours with it, I'm sold and on board day one.

I'm going to take a week off work for this game. It will consume my soul.

If only I had the option to turn off that damn "Go to orbit" message.

Do I have that option, GAF?

I have a lot of sexy screens without any UI except the alpha username one. Press options then share one after the other as quickly as you can. No UI for a brief moment when you come back in. Sitting with your back to a wall allows for nice no PC shots of the environment.

So, do the plates , weapon parts, spinmental and so on that you find / dismantel have a purpose in alpha?

If you get 20 spin metal you can hand it in for glimmer and some xp (I think)

The weapon parts are for upgrading weapons that we can't hope to have in the alpha. And I have no idea what you mean by 'the plates'

I haven't played the Alpha, but if Destiny has a similar FoV to Reach (78) I'll be fine. If it's closer to Halo 3 (60) it will be a bit annoying, but nothing I can't get used to.
Where are you getting your info from? The 78 degrees in Reach is the standard 16:9 mode, and Halo 3's standard 16:9 mode is 70 degrees.

Anyway, currently, Destiny's FoV is ~72 degrees.

(All values based on my own measurements.)

I absolutely love the armor in this. Just enough to make it look awesome without it looking tacky. And all the armor actually FITS the character! Parts aren't floating on them. lol
It's one of the reason I'm sticking with the Titan class. I absolutely love the armor styles for them. Can't say the same for Hunters and Warlocks. Warlock may be the better class but I prefer the Titan's armors.

I think I've got all the gaming in today that I can so I will say farewell destiny until July.

One parting thought: i wish there were more controller scheme options. Specifically I'd like to be able to map melee to B (can remember if this is circle or square on the play station controller) and crouch the click on the right stick while keeping the shoulders and triggers how they are. More like halo buttons basically.
Agreed.

Classic Halo control schemes should be in the final game. For example, classic Bumper Jumper:

LS: Crouch
RS: ADS
L2: Grenade
L1: Jump
R2: Shoot
R1: Melee
Triangle: Switch Weapon
Circle: Action/Reload
Cross: Sprint
Square: Ability

But also classic Recon, classic Default, and all the others. Right now every control scheme is a bit too much COD for me.

Oh well, 60 and 78 were the numbers I remembered, but I did a quick google search just in case, and the first result unfortunately confirmed it (it was wrong too) Guess I remembered wrong, but my point still stands. Halo Reach FoV > Halo 3 FoV, and I'd prefer Destiny to be closer to the FoV of Reach, instead of Halo 3.

I know you can turn in spinmetal to one of the groups in the Tower for reputation. Not sure about plates or weapon parts though.

20 spinmetal can be traded in for Crucible points at an NPC down the main staircase at The Tower.
Cool, thanks peeps. Figured some of it was a crafting thing we can't play with yet. I've exchanged the spinmetal before but wasn't sure if there was more too it. Oh, what I mean by "plates" is when you dismantle an uncommon item, it often gives you "plate metal" or something. Just curious. Man I don't want it to end, lol. Having loads of fun and I am almost anti FPS to the core. Good times.

Edit: missing the mission for the spurs game. SA betting fraking win!!
