They have a huge cool down, right?
Can you speed that cool down up with skills, etc.?

Some pieces of armor will increase your character's strength, focus*, or intellect. Strength bonuses reduce the cooldown for your special melee attack. Focus* reduces the cooldown for your grenades. Intellect reduces the cooldown for your super.

*I actually am drawing a blank and can't remember if this is what it's called.

Loving this game. :)

Jeez that is beautiful.

Posts like this really make me smile. So many people were so down on this game and now they're starting to get it. Just brings a smile to my face.

Destiny really is a game where you need to play it in order to realize how great it is. I was starting to become less hyped based on all the disappointing stuff that had been out previously about it. Spent 5 minutes in the game and my worries were gone and I was having tons of fun.

I think that has to do with the terrible way Bungie has presented the game. That Jones trailer is IMO the only good one so far. That actually explains what they're trying to make.

So the concensus is that it's friggin awesome? People were wrong about it being boring looking?

Pretty much. You have to realize though that Bungie did not do a good job selling it. Even they admit that. It's hard to really sell a new franchise. More so when it's as ambitious as this. As you can tell they've decided the best way to sell you on it is via this surprise alpha access and the beta. Then they've made some really kick ass new videos that help too.So you really can't fault people for having been down on it before.

aye. It's really interesting having to bite my lip for so long, knowing that this is really a game you need to play to understand.

apologies if this has been answered but is there any kind of class bonus for certain weapons?

for example im watcing someone on twitch playing as a hunter and his special weapon for this particular multiplayer match is a sniper rifle, could a warlock use one as well?

Any class can use any weapon. They get no bonuses for using a certain type either.

They were never making another Halo, but I think the marketing was acting like it was.

Slices of modes and contained demos when the real experience of Destiny is something you can't just take out a vertical slice from that the whole game needs to be seen within its own context.

Day 1, i suck bad at FPS but this is a whole different beast.
For those who played the alpha/are more informed than me:
-Is there a lot of enemies diversity? I keep seeing the usual ones with 4 arms or the cyborgs.
-Are there bosses like those spider-tanks?
-How big is the exploration component?
-Are the shooting mechanics good for entry-level players?

I'm not in the alpha but there are more enemy's then what's on the alpha, and bosses can be anything there is a strike on the moon that has a huge dude that breaks out of his chains to fight at the end.

The alpha only contains one area, so right now there is only two factions of enemies. The Fallen and The Hive. However each faction is made up of multiple enemy types that are all pretty different looking.

The full game will obviously have many more species.

There are currently two bosses in the alpha Strike mission right now (spider tank and a fallen orb) Both are pretty fun and challenging/have different weak spots.

Exploration seems like a big part of this game, Old Russia is pretty damn huge and you are given a scooter vehicle to get around quickly. It's not Skyrim big, but it's pretty impressive, and there will be many planets in the final game to discover. The day/night and weather cycles even make areas you've visited already feel different.

1) Enemy diversity is pretty nice. There are two factions, each with their own different types of enemies. Think Halo. You've got your Brutes, Elites, grunts, etc. Then you've also got flying enemies, and big "Wizard" enemies that fly around and have shields and stuff. Enemy diversity is good.

2) There are some big bosses. There are named enemies (think Diablo) and then they have big bosses like the Spider Tank. Bosses seem awesome, and there is usually some strat to take them down, not just shoot them until they die.

3) Exploration is pretty disappointing to me. It's cool to roam around and do random missions at first, but there really isn't much to find. There are cool nooks and crannies, but you're not really rewarded for finding them. The random exploration missions are pretty much MMO filler. Go here, kill that, bring back 10 random pieces of shit you pick up from a certain enemy. Note that my disappointments may be because of the limited content offered in the alpha. I'm not making any real judgements on it until later, but thats my current feeling on it.

4) The shooting mechanics are amazing and is what has kept me playing this game. Really tight and satisfying, but hard to explain. You have to experience it yourself.
