Destiny |OT36| Fifty Shades of TTK

That's a good one. Maybe I'm not familiar enough with the expression but wouldn't "what was old is new again" make more sense?

The year 1 exotics update is a good option to focus on since it captures part of the spirit currently happening. We've exhausted the new stuff, time to be nostalgic about old stuff.

Frankly there's so little happening with the game that there aren't many other options outside acknowledging the down time with something like "The Grasp of Us." A good idea related to KF Challenge Mode could work but they've barely acknowledged that those exist.

You'd think that.... but this is the internet...

And yes I realize I'm not helping my situation by making this post :p

I've heard "what was old is new again", "everything old is new again", and the slightly truncated "what's old is new again"

Well, I figured since things are now in the present, their title changes from "old" to "new" lol. Though, what you wrote is the correct way to write the expression :)

So I just got a Nirwen's Mercy with headseaker, glass half full, and hand laid stock. Did I just win Iron Banner? Because I feel like I won Iron Banner.

Wait, so what's the deal with OT38 instead of OT37? Feel like I'm missing something.

Woops, blame Irawr for that :p I believe Irawr's was tongue in cheek that by OT38 it will be 'dead' and that I just read it without checking the OT title when I posted mine.

For about 3 weeks :p

Lol you guys act like pulse rifles aren't going to work anymore. Did you see the chart they made comparing shots to kill before and after the update? They will be fine. They might not be the be all, end all anymore, which is good. But they will still kill in 3 bursts.

I... I legitimately don't know why I typed 38 twice, fixed it the second time and didn't notice it in the first. Sorry guys. Bungie nerfed my math skills.

We saw what they did to ARs and HCs.

Yeah, but there are no changes to accuracy and range with pulses. Just damage. And they tell us exactly how much, down to number of shots per kill for all archetypes against multiple armor builds. I'm killing people in three trigger pulls now. I'll kill people in three trigger pulls then. The only difference is we may see more autos and hand cannons again.

Fix your fucking matchmaking Bungie. Yes there was a dude who played the entire match with 0-12 and 4 assists. And yes I'm always put in with players who seem to be playing with their feet when solo queuing.

MM isn't some magic lamp. The biggest limiting factor is the population - doesn't matter how many settings Bungie tinkers with if the population pool is limited. If you would like to control the variables more, play with a group, otherwise just go with the flow.

No reason to get so angry. Also, Bungie invented matchmaking for the consoles, they know what they're doing ;)

It doesn't matter. The quality and quantity of loot drops equally for everyone, so you can be AFK and still get better loot than the top scorer. There's no incentive to do any better. None whatsoever.

Look at the population within that match though. All of the worst players are on the same team. This is the real issue with the matchmaking. Each team should have close to the same average skill level if teams are properly balanced and there aren't any people in groups, granted there are two on each team in groups in this instance.

The variables you describe need a huge population to work properly. The only thing that matters ultimately is connection. Some games will be a landslide and some will be more equal. Everything outside of trials is just supposed to be fun and not super competitive. Similar to how CoD has it setup. Halo 5 scratches that super competitive bug for everyone that cares.

I'm happy Bungie doesn't care about making the PVP super balanced. As I've said before, MW2 was one of my all time favorite shooters online and it was a complete cluster fuck of fun. Destiny doesn't need ranks or anything like that.

Hahaha ok I'd admit that got me good.

Yup. It was a lobby with only 2 premade teams of 3 on each side, I don't know how this happens. If it was a premade team of 6 then yeah ok I'd understand.

Why does skill level need a huge population?

Hypothetically let's say players are assigned a skill rank between 1-10, 1 being terrible, and 10 being fantastic. 6 people load into a match of skirmish based on all having a good connection. The six players are labeled A-F. Their skill levels are as followed A-7 B-4 C-8 D-3 E-5 and F-2. Wouldn't it be easy enough to separate the teams to be A B D vs C E F so the skill gap is 1 as opposed to random distribution?

I really appreciate people throwing out creative title suggestions but I wanted to spare everyone the effort (and spare this elderly OT the post counts...). Title has been chosen and OT37 is ready to go except that I've been spending way, way too long messing around with stuff for TLW section, haha.

It'll be here very soon. Thank goodness we ended this OT during an off hour so there haven't been 100 freak-out posts about where the new thread was.

helping finish this thread off :p

We should play ToO sometimes soon!

I think it was a year ago, I flew back 4 hours before IB was over, and grind it out and hit rank 5 from noting. Fun times..
