Anyone on XBox interested in doing the hard raid tonight? Should start at 10pm est. Room for three.
For me, it's about how things worked in Vanilla. I'll agree with you that some things improved, but I preferred Vanilla personally. I liked that the Nightfalls actually gave good loot and that buff was great for XP all week. I liked that they had the 3x burn. Raid loot was actually worth going after with elemental primaries. Bounties were easy and worth a lot of XP. Now they're annoying and worth hardly any XP. I liked the RNG exotics over quests/free exotics for everybody.
I realize they're bring some of this back with this last patch but it's been 2 years of TTK without it.
Bewwm.
OG Gjall was too strong. Buffing everything to that level would've made time to kill way too fast in both PvP and PvE.
I do agree with the general idea that Exotics need to have more varied/unique aspects to them. Something that reinforces playstyles would be cool. I'm still kind of surprised that we don't have any guns that provide passive group healing in exchange for lower damage than usual. A couple of classes that can give some spot healing (tied to grenades?) could be cool too.
I've been wanting that for awhile. Imagine if it could also res someone but of course it does no damage. Not sure how bad/good it is without play testing but it sounds like a fun mechanic.
Free for rise of iron owners. If you have roi your set. Im properly shocked they didnt try to charge for it.I'll prolly jump back in from AoT, do updates like these cost anything?
I'd be willing to bet money that you are in a very tiny minority.
Strikes: TTK strikes had variety. Vanilla strikes are heavily criticized for bullet sponge bosses and wave defense.
Raids: All are pretty good but the first raids are highly cheesed. And the newer ones reward systems are far better. Encounters for all are great.
Story missions: Here's where I'm confused. How are TTK missions not better than vanilla? Stealth misson, black spindle secret, variety. Vanilla = go to a thing, scan, wave defense, repeat.
And talk about playable content. How much fun was it going around Mars in circles to collect 160 relic iron to fully upgrade your armor set, only to do it all over again once you got your raid gear? Vanilla had a lot of problems.
Sorry but I just don't see it.
Well, I'll be back from ME:A sooner than what I thought. Game is going to need a few patches.
Res is probably too strong considering Trials where the Risk/Reward for exposing yourself to Res plays a big factor. Normally wouldn't be to big a deal except Trials is the biggest viewer grab.
I'm sure you're right about me being in a tiny minority, but i do think I'm right on this one.
There were certainly aspects of vanilla that have been much improved, but I'm talking about the quality of the encounters/level design. Yes, they were more simplistic, but the quality was higher.
When you look at the strikes (and to a lesser degree the story missions), despite them having less bells and whistles, there was a polish and verve to those early sets of encounters that the new stuff hasn't matched.

Have they said anything about new microtransactions? Whales gonna whale.
Sometimes, I wish Activi$ion would do with Destiny that they do with CoD and let another developer make Destiny 2.
Someone PM Discord info!
Added it to my android phone
I really hope the Destiny 2 classes get massive overhauls.
Goddamn ya'll slacking...
Needs ze infos, please!
What are you doing here, begone!, back to Agora you heathen
A lot of this has less to do with changes to systems and more to do with being a fresh player. For me, it's about how things worked in Vanilla. I say all this because I feel the game took a quality nosedive with the release of TTK and has never fully recovered. It's a shell of what it was during HoW and I'd pay Bungie serious money to go back to HoW - but that doesn't mean it's all been bad. A lot of the stuff they've done is great, even if none of it comes close to making up for the garbage can decisión of ruining hand cannon accuracy, which effectively nearly ruined the game for me and has made it feel significantly worse ever since.

Bounties being better back then is a strange concept. If I recall correctly we could hold a maximum of 5 and were far less varied. We now have Vanguard, Strikes, Crucible, Petra, Eris, Variks, Vance, Shiro, Shaxfall and Nightfall bounties to chose from. And they're varied enough that they don't dictate what you do next: instead of looking at bounties and thinking "shit where do i go farm yellow bar captain kills", it's more like pick them all up and they'll be done before you notice. Plus you can turn them in from the menu. With XP being basically irrelevant (remember how crazy stupid long it took to level stuff via bounties?) with Motes in the game, varied easy bounties seem to me like a better implementation than the hyper repetitive small pool we used to have, even if they're lower XP.
NF rewards were only "good" in Y1 because you didn't already have perfect everythings. Odds of getting an exotic or random Legendary gun were just about the same. The difference is, a legendary scout rifle drop today is ass-tier whereas back in the day that was amazing cause you only had a handful of legendaries total. There is literally nothing I could get from a NF that I don't already have. This doesn't mean NF rewards are bad - it means I have everything I could want. I do think removing the rep buff wasn't a mistake and I'm glad it's coming back next week though. In fairness though, even without that buff it's significantly easier to rank up factions or level up gear now than it was then. Using Motes for XP and introducing varied and generous faction donations has completely transformed these processes for the better 25% NF buff or not.
As for Exotics being RNG, I won't question your preference - it's a personal thing I guess. I will say however that "Exotics don't feel special anymore because of 3oC" and stuff vs low-drop rate RNG is also a strange argument. There's always been "free Exotics for everybody". They have never been rare. Sure you had that one guy on your fire team who hasn't gotten lucky with ______ but I think everyone here had every Exotic, or maybe all but one or two, within the first few months of the game coming out.
I mean Xur is basically a testament to Bungie never intending for exotics to be rare. By the time year 1 was over, Xur had sold every single exotic weapon not tied to a bounty or raid or PlayStation two *or more* times. Gjally was infamous for only having been sold right at the beginning and right at the end of Y1 but regardless - every single eligible weapon and armor piece was offered multiple times with no luck or randomness involved (fine, except The Ram but still). Hell if anything kiosks have done more to ruin exotic drop hype than 3oC ever did. The reason a second or third Ice Breaker or Gjally drop was exciting in Y1 was because you didn't have a kiosks for alt copies (and transferring tools weren't as fast and easy as they are now).
As for Raid loot being worth getting: in with you but for different reasons. I've never understood why primary elemental guns were a big deal. I mean Fatebringer and Vision of Confluence were the absolute favorite guns for the community in Vault of Glass - there's literally zero arc or Solar shields in the entire raid. They were just great guns, element or not. CE guns were a bit of a step down, with the Scout and Sniper (shotgun and rocket launcher to a lesser extent) being great loot worth chasing. And then of course you had Skolas with the least memorable loot ever despite the fancy elements on the primaries he dropped. I still have my Solar Six Dreg Pride or whatever it was called and it's still not great. Wrath of the Machine loot is probably in the same tier as Crota's End (barring Black Hammer): several great guns and others which nobody will use. It doesn't stand up to VoG, but it's clear why - Bungie wanted to prevent a sandbox with hundreds of primaries being dominated by two like FB/VoC managed.

Congratulations on the flawless raider!woohoo, finally got my flawless raider trophy; 2-manned Crota with a buddy and nailed it on the first try. That bridge-jump got me some sweaty hands.. Only thing left now for platinum is a bunch of Salvage games -_-
Congratulations on the flawless raider!
It's weird how many people left the Salvage Relics trophy to be their last. Is Salvage even in the rotation right now?

Thanks!
And I sure hope so. But I haven't seen it around lately, hmm.
It used to come up every other week - but that was back in Year 1/2 - no idea now.
Warlock, with sunbreakers for the abiss (if u cannot cheese the jump lamp). Max agility for jumping bridge (may need some practice). Solar grenades to get crotas shield down (or gally, heavy mg).Congrats! I tried to solo it but gave up early
Got the platinum in Horizon yesterday and I just can't get into ME:A so bring on Destiny again tomorrow! Hopefully it will feel nice to be back.
Anyone going to (or already have) delete all of your old raid gear and weapons?
