[Destructoid] Leaked photo of NX controller?

I didn't even realize that shiny thing was the controller. I had to look a few times like where is it? I guess different games can have different button set ups. Each game can determine its own layout, like the iOS and its touch screen games. I hope it's fake though

Part of me thinks this is fake but then again Nintendo did create a tablet controller. I don't think going with another screen controller is a good idea.

No way that uncomfortable hunk of crap could possibly get through a painstaking R & D process without anyone bothering to actually try and hold it.

I will say that if they somehow managed to get physical face buttons crammed onto that thing, and if it was possible to hold it in your hands in some sane way (these are two big ifs), I don't think it's all that bad of an idea.

Weird, but not bad. Not having physical buttons is a deal-breaker, though. Haptic feedback is trash.

I guess, but even with physical buttons on an overlay, that positioning is going to be super awkward to play games.

this leak only has physical a/b buttons (imma go ahead and assume that's because the rest of the 'buttons' would be touch buttons that appear depending on the game) and their positioning doesn't look that awkward to me, kinda like x/a on a wii u controller.

From what I gather from the guys words, he's probably in a major their party dev studio in Europe, probably Ubisoft.

Assuming this is the truth.

The analog sticks aren't just a copy paste of exactly how they are on Wii or Wii U. The covering it's got over it looks fairly unique so maybe, just maybe it's real. It's easy to get and reproduce a Wii U stick, but making something from scratch seems a long way to go for a fake.

I'm all sorts of wary of "haptic buttons".

I usually place my thumb on a button a second or so before pressing it, this mo'fo' will have me looking down to make sure I'm actually on the damn screen button.

Sure it has "paddles" but how does that make a difference when you're playing any of the games I was talking about?

I guess, but even with physical buttons on an overlay, that positioning is going to be super awkward to play games.
Because with paddles, thumbs never have to leave the analog sticks. The buttons are on the back. So when XB1 and PS4 owners are taking their thumbs off the analogs to crouch, Melee and run, I'll be able to do the same while moving/looking around.
unless they have an elite controller

More from the conversation on YouTube (GameXplain's video on the rumor).

I'm not saying that it's real, but isn't it be a bit harder to photoshop something in real life to where nothing picks it up as Photoshopped than what you pulled off?

Probably, but it's really not hard to fool those photo analyzers. Just gotta keep the image clean, and it won't get detected. What I'd be more interested in is the image metadata.

The most telling things about this being fake:

1. Source never posted before

2. Source is very eager to point out being a developer, heck its part of the username

3. Reached out to Dualpixels, a crap site

4. Posted not once, but twice in too different Reddit threads

Someone was way too desperate for attention

Would people want this over a vita with a bigger screen that stops at the buttons/sticks?

I don't see the point of having the screen extend to where your hand covers.

I agree with your evidence. This will be debunked by tomorrow, or will sit on the shelf until we see the real thing in June.

Assuming this is the truth.

Makes sense. And the image displayed has a guy in a hood. I'm assuming it's AC-related/Ubi-Soft.

Assuming this is the truth.

What do I think? I think the controller definitely looks unorthodox and is not my favorite controller upon an immediate first impression. That said, I can't see Nintendo releasing a device that isn't ergonomic. Sure you have outliers but for most people, Nintendo devices are comfortable to hold. If this is real, I will reserve judgment until a proper reveal coupled with media impressions. After the WiiU I can't see Nintendo being in a rush to fumble another console. At least with the N64 to GCN transition they still made a ton of money even if they didn't exactly set the sales charts of fire. Nintendo really needs to break silence on this device. Hope they know what they are doing.

Nah. Totally possible.

Wide-angle lens (like a smartphone) distorting far nub. Strong main light source is consistent with what you'd see with a window that goes up high near a ceiling (common in offices) reflecting in the screen with the shadow behind the object.

Lighting on the paper note is consistent with this, which would be an easy detail to overlook if fake...

(Professional food/product photographer here.)
How do you explain this?

an awesome thing would be seeing morphing buttons which will come up and vanish, depending on the game you want to play.

wether its real or not, i love to speculate about things like this.

I mean

I didn't think there was any way in hell even a working prototype would actually look kinda like that wacky ass patent

I mean

It's a controller with no physical buttons at the same time it's a screen with fucking sticks in the way you have to hit touch buttons on blocking even more of it

It literally can't do either one of it's jobs as well as if it had been two things

That's not how you make a good hybrid anything

Here's hoping this is fake or homebrew or something
