Developers that release nothing but hits

How many are there, really?
Also, I'm talking HUGE hits.

So there's

I wouldn't count Nintendo in there. But I guess thats due to the fact that they just release so many games. Although I guess if you go into their individual teams like EAD...

These developers have nothing but TALENT. I mean, they're the ones that always take the longest to complete a game, but when they finally do... WOW. (excuse the pun)
There just must be so much skillful management going on here in order to keep the games constistent.

On a negative side, these are the companies that tend not to do overly innovative things. They just do what they do WELL.

Feel free to add to my little list.

Add a mimimum of 5 games released in their lifespan and you've got yourself a thread.

Blizzard is like the best damned quality developer in the age of gaming.. Hands down they put so much effort into there products and it shows.

EA? im not saying the games are good but dont most or all sell a shitload?

Sports-wise, usually(I doubt games like Rugby do all that well in the US).

Their action games have been known to tank pretty hard, though.(IE: Catwoman)

I'm talking about the full package. Games that sell like hotcakes, but with good reason.

Then you can take Blizzard off the list. I don't think Blackthorne, Rock N' Roll Racing, and Lost Vikings sold like hotcakes.

Great games though.

Those games are all at least a decade old at this point. I think nothing but hits in the last ten years is good enough.

Wait until Starcraft ghost comes out. Then again it's not really by the same people. Oh yeah it's probably not coming out either.

Konami comes close, these days. As close as you'll get on the console side of things.

Any Kojima project that isn't Metal Gear.

Sorry Matty, just loaded up my Lost Vikings copy.

They were called Silicon & Synapse

Up until 94, damn! No difference, tho, as it's still the same company. :)

I think "Death and Return of Superman" was their first "Blizzard" game, then.

Rockstar North, OK so it helps that all they release nowadays is the latest GTA using the same engine but changing the levels, weapons, and graphics.
Megaman
Anyway, we'll see how Bully fares.

This incident sadly sadly happened. I even had the game from some trading I think.. it was certainly not a hit. Not trying to play Blizzard down, for a while I was the biggest Warcraft 3 addict ever. Still consider it one of the very best games ever, but unfortunately their vest is not entirely spotless.

EDIT: So this was not developed by blizzard but only published by them? If so, nevermind.

Hm.... there should be a "AAA developers with a questionable past" offspring thread from this one. :lol

Retro Studios ^^
EAD
Amusement Vision
Intelligent System
Clover
EAD Tokyo
with only the exception of Grabbed gy the Ghoulies: Banjo Team
Nintendo R&D1

Space Station Silicon Valley was bad?

No, it's a good game, but it wasn't a "hit." The word hit implies good sales, at least IMO. For example when you like a really good song that wasn't very popular, you wouldn't call it a hit song, at least I wouldn't.

Out of curiosity and ignorance: What did clover do before viewtiful joe.

Oh and let me just throw Q entertainment into the mix. And maybe treasure. (?)

They weren't formed. And while Q and Treasure both have critical hits throughout their lifespan (with the exception of Stretch Panic on Treasure's side), commercial hits are far and few between.

Q entertainment has only released two games so I don't think it's fair to say they only release hits. BTW Meteos didn't too that well in the US/EU although it did beat Lumines in JP.
