Devil May Cry proved Capcom wrong, hopefully something can do so for MGA

I can't wait til someone releases a succesful action game (3rd person) on the PlayStation Portable, and proves to Konami that it can easily be done.

I remember when people really didn't think Castlevania could be done in 3d because Konami continued to fail on that too, but Capcom easily proved them wrong with Devil May Cry. I think it's a perfect transformation of castlevania and the new technology gaming has today.

That said I am really looking forward Argonaut's Zero Hour and Full Fat's Advent Shadow. And I still hope that gitsac and logan's shadow turn out well.

Stealth Action is action none the less.
As is action platform... so should Ape Escape and Death Jr be proving something to Konami as well? How about action rpgs? Will Konami learn a lesson from their own Ys VI?

Just that the comparisons you're making (outside Logan's Shadow) seem a little off. Which is why I brought up Tenchu.

I don't think Konami needs "proving" so much though. More likely SCEI demanded a Metal Gear for PSP launch, and Kojima thinks this is an appropriate response. The fact that Ghost Babel and Boktai 1-3 exist sort of negates Konami PR that handhelds aren't suited for stealth games.

If Konami haven't decided to make Metal Gear Ac!d a card game (and keeping the action/stealth genre), it wouldn't have been available in time for system's launch...

Jarrod the flaw in your logic is that the genre in which metal gear lies under is completely different. To a certain extent other action games could prove that a real time action metal gear solid game is possible on portables such as the psp, but they do not drive the point as other games more similar to metal gear itself.

Ghost Babel is a joke of a metal gear game, where its gameplay is more similar in roots to the original metal gear games rather than the Metal Gear Solid series.

I'd prefer an action/stealth game to this card based game. I'm a fan of yu-gi-oh and dragon ball z super saiyajin densetsu, but this is metal gear...

I agree

not to mention that the majority of team kojima had to crunch for a NA fall release with a japan release right after I believe they're finishing up the European version at the moment.

It's probably the reason kojima is barely involved.

But outside Logan's Shadow, are any of those other game really similar to MGS? I thought they were all more straightforward action games, with little to no stealth elements?

You seem to be in the minority with that opinion. Ghost Babel actually incorperates almost every mechanics from MGS... it's perspective and aesthetic is more like MG1+2 sure, but mechanics and game design have more in common with MGS. Have you spent much time with it?

My sentiments exactly but with an addition (in bold).

Oh and Galian do play the GBC game instead of trashing it, to a point it was an excellent MGS clone.

You haven't even tried the game!

I have played ghost babel, and did not like it. I speak from my own personal experience with the game.

Laurent I don't need to play a game to be uninterested. I probably will play MGA, but that's because I like metal gear so much. I know the things I like. I like card based games. I like Metal Gear. The combination on the other hand, I don't like the mix.
