• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

DF doubles down on they were right about the switch 2 specs.

it goes back the the point that the game's RT is shit and not worth it on switch 2 hardware based on these results. it doesn't look like proper RT according to alex, RTGI is a noisy sparkling mess just like alex said and you can see the from the video i posted, and on top of that the reflection's are a low resolution burry mess so in the end its not worth it for switch 2 hardware.

the lighting looks like shit on all consoles in this game, and in fact in most games that use RT on console currently.

all current gen consoles have absolutely dogshit raytraying hardware (aside from the PS5 Pro) and it shows in nearly every game ever released on them.

it's why most UE5 games run software RT and don't even use the RT hardware at all

Im not a fan of RT its a waste especially on these consoles, but the other versions lighting although not great, doesn't have the issues of leaking, noise and sparkling like the switch 2 version has

yes, because they have a higher ray count and resolution.

which is why I compare the Switch 2 version with Lumen. Lumen also has a super low ray count and is insanely unstable in nearly every game it was ever used in.

Indiana Jones will be interesting to see, because iD Tech's RT is extremely high performance, so it might be able to actually have a stable look, even on Switch 2

switch 1 was actually way more advanced for its time. it was using such a dated node and GPU, It was the most powerful handheld as well. switch 2 is using 4 year old gpu and a node bigger then what's in ps5 and people wanna praise that shit?
My games didn't run at 15 fps the same year the console came out. So yeah, I'd rather praise it.

As far as I remember it was kopite7kimi that first revealed the Switch 2 would use the Tegra 2 SoC.
DF just took that info and made a few videos about his information.
The video is about estimated performance based on rumored specs. Not about who came up with the specs.

''You know they say all consoles are created equal. But you look at Nintendo and you look at Microsoft or Sony and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another console, you got a 50-50 chance of winning. But Nintendo's a genetic freak and not normal. So you got a 25 per cent - at best - to beat Nintendo. And then you add Xbox Series S to the mix, your chances of winning drastically go down. You see, the three way in this console generation you got a 33 and 1/3 chance of winning. But Nintendo, they got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning cause Microsoft knows they can't beat Nintendo and they not even gonna try. So Sony, you take your 33 and 1/3 chance, minus Nintendo's 25 per cent chance and Sony then got an 8 and 1/3 chance of winning. But then you take Nintendo's 75 per cent chance of winning if it goes one on one and then add the 66 and 2/3 per cent chance, Nintendo got a 141 and 2/3 chance of winning this generation. See Microsoft/Sony, the numbers don't lie and they spell disaster for you when you face Nintendo. See, but I'm gonna break it down for you, ladies. Would you rather be with Nintendo or would you rather be with Microsoft/Sony?''

They were mainly talking GPU and CPU. ps4 came out when 4k did not exist so it never got a output to display 4k.
I am pretty sure I once saw a presentation about the PS4 in which they sayed the base PS4 can do 4k, so I guess in theory the hardware could output a 4k resolution.
But of course the PS4 never had the GPU power to do a real game in that resolution, so it was never enabled...

Like the base PS5 which was even advertised with 8K resolution, which never saw the light of day...

You can't really take any of this stuff seriously. It's all just to feed the algorithm and get views and lure in subs to the patreon
