So now that monk and DH's been nerfed, what class is next on Blizz nerf hammer?

Default SS is one second (-1 second). Lingering Fog makes it 2 seconds. The cooldown is 2.5 seconds (+0.5 second).

You can't take it out of your build either way for solo Inferno unless you plan on corpse-hopping past Jailers. It really isn't that hard to work around the new duration.

Played with 3 other people last night in Act 4 Nightmare. Seems like they throw a lot more mobs at you the more that are in a group. It was the best timed I've had yet with the game. Can't wait to take on Hell with the same guys later today!

What's giving you that massive DPS on the Wizard? I'm currently at ~7k at level 54.

Any other Witch Doctors want to enlighten me with their builds? I have a Spirit build which I love running with. The problem with it though, and it's a big one, is that I have no AOE to speak of. This isn't so much of a problem while I'm grouped with AOE-capable friends (which is most of the time), but while trying to solo I find I can get easily overrun by mass amounts of trash mobs.

Plus, I kind of want to play something different.

For the past two nights I've been trying to come up with a different build - some pets, frogs, spiders - but nothing really seems to work well. My Spirit-heavy build had such a great symmetry to it. Everything sort of fit. These other builds I'm trying feel clumsy. i.e. running out of mana, pets not doing what they're supposed to be, etc...

I tried so hard to love the frogs - any of them - but they all seem to suck. Three frogs that random hop around just doesn't cut it in the later difficulties. Giant toad, while completely awesome, has poor decision making abilities and seems useless against elites.

Bats are pretty good. I tried Dire bats a lot, but sort of ran into the same problem as with the frogs - they tend to miss their target. They're effective for shooting into large groups of enemies, but if I'm facing large groups I can think of better skills than Dire bats.

So here's my Spirit build:
Spirit Barrage - mana return
Haunt - life return
Horrify - increase radius
Spirit Walk - 3 seconds
Soul Harvest - 60 seconds
Garg - 15 second beast

Passives - 30% mana return from Spirit spells, 2 second cooldown reduction, 15% mana cost in life.

Anybody have an effective build that deviates greatly from this? It's a great build with amazing single-target DPS and almost no mana issues, but I just want to try something new. And as much as I love it, I'd like to get away from Soul Harvest. Feels like a crutch at this point.

Been tweaking a NON- Vision Quest WD build for my Hell playthough so I thought I would post it.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#afUdRX!ZbV!acZZab

I do not like using Vision Quest because I do not like keeping my skills on cooldown. So I am trying to figure out a viable alternative. Basically the Idea is that you can still spam about 6-7 casts of Zombie Bears, but the rest of the skills I have added are all usable to Kite and attack while your mana is recharging. All of the skills I have picked are cheap, low cooldown, and can boost health/mana on cast. Finding it fairly easy to survive in Act 2 Hell. I picked Horrify over GOTD because of the lower mana cost, and because you cannot really botch casting it like you can when positioning GOTD. It also has a mana regen rune although I chose the increased radius rune over it.

Thoughts?

Barbs. Might as well get them all to reroll now.

Huh, thought it was just 1.5s runed on a 3s cooldown. 2s/2.5s isn't even really an issue, honestly.

What's your DPS without those? Trying to work out if my equipment is crap.

Witch Doctor is is too OP.
Shit, I've barely heard anything from the WD-community... it's like, barbarians complain they're too weak. Monks and DH qq's now after the nerf. Wizards are raging as-well. But WD-community is just... quiet...

I'm only in late nightmare...real life is taking up all my D3 time. ;_;

I'll be complaining in about a week!

pump stats into armor/vit that is what I have been doing...it's helping A LOT. I'm in hell btw. My armor is at around 3500

The thing is, stacking armor and vit is going to greatly reduce DPS. At that point, you're prolonging the inevitable 15-20k crit that wipes you clean.

They need to make our traps more viable on Inferno mobs. If they do that, SS won't be a necessary skill. We would actually be able to kite and jump around STRATEGICALLY with the worthlessly lag-induced Vault.

Can't view it at work here, so I'll wait until I get home. But sounds like you're kind of going for the same thing I am. I'm trying to get away from the bread-and-butter WD abilities - just to try something new. Problem is my builds seem to fall apart once I do so.

I'll play around with Fire Bomb some more tonight. Tried it a bit and wasn't too impressed. Although I never did try the first rune.

Already rerolled!

My issue with BoP isn't the change itself so much as it's the fact it doesn't scale at all anymore.

Back from my vacation and on that work grind again. I beat Act 3 last on normal finally. That cut scene at the end was amazing, but found the boss to be laughably easy for my Monk compared to the act 2 boss.

1 act away from co op fun times wooh wooh.

Sounds like we're going at the exact same pace, lol. Finished up Act 3 last night as well and share the same sentiments about that cutscene. Was terrific, but yes, boss was incredibly easy.

It'll be nice to not have to worry about solo play either and just dive into co-op whenever.

I'm in hell act 2 and soloing pretty well for the most part. Had to get some help to take down the butcher/certain elite mobs but I'm progressing. Most of the complaints now are that we have a bunch of useless gimmick skills like giant frogs and turning into chickens. It seems like in general the more I upgrade gear the easier it gets. I'm going to get to 60 (54 now) then I will probably reroll.

So it turns out if you price your items reasonably in the auction house they actually sell. I've sold a few items now and the most I've received is 13,000 gold and that was for some cuffs. I wish you could have more than 10 auctions up at a time.

Anyone know what the best skills/runes to use for a DPS Demon Hunter? Right now I'm level 35 and using bolo shot with volatile explosives rune, rapid fire with fire support, spider companion(thinking about switching to vault), sentry with spitfire turret, rain of vengeance with dark cloud and shadow power with blood moon.

Sold a bow for over 800,000 gold(minus tax). Aw yeah. Feels good.

What kind of bow :o

Whenever I manage to sell something in the AH, I wonder if I priced it too low. Whenever something doesn't sell, I think "Crap, should've priced lower" and have to wait 2 days for the thing to end. :|

Alsooo, is there a way to see the stats of an item you've sold? I'd like to be able to see what sells for how much so I can price future items accordingly.

Like any situation where SS gets used and by the time it ends there are still things immediately able to hit you, I feel like maybe you fucked up somewhere.

How much have you played your DH, and how much have you used SS? You do realize that even though you become invisible and invulnerable, and that even though the mobs arent supposed to be able to see you, that they CAN STILL SEE YOU, and will actually continue to CHASE you for around 2 seconds after you vanish right? With a skill like SS that costs loads of Discipline, it is very very very very very very VERY likely that you can vanish for 1 second and not be able to get distance on whatever lept/burrowed/vortexed you in Inferno.

The fact of the matter is, the skill should be useable even without the lingering fog rune. It should be effective at 1 second, but its really not. And two is moderately effective at best. Someone not being able to get range during the duration of SS isnt always 'their fuckup' friend, thats just the way the game is working. If mobs broke off of you immediately upon use, then maybe you would have a point.

Well it's working for me so far and I'm in Act 2 of hell. Really had no problems thus far with my setup. My DPS is around 3800 btw.

Still uses a lot of bnb skills but it doesn't require you to cool them down.

Poison Dart (Splinters)
Zombie charge (Zombie Bears)
Spirit Walk (Honored Guest)
Soul Harvest (Siphon)
Hex (Hedge Magic)
Horrify (Face of Death)

Passives:
Jungle Fortitude
Spiritual Attunement
Spirit vessel

Edit: Fire bomb is cool in theory but the damage fall off is really too much for end of NM/Hell. I switched back to Darts before the end of NM because I got stuck.

Lol. I always salvage all quivers. Should start watching out for what they actually do, lol :P
(I hate money in every MMO-like game, I am always poor. Trying to change that with D3..)
*bow.

I thought it was the quiver I put up. AH puts that quiver around 300k, but I stuck it up for 175k.

850dps
150dex
100vit
40% crit dmg

Boon of Protection is no longer 15% of your Maximum Life, it's 15% of your Maximum Life or the amount it heals over 3s (~2700 @60). BoP is still serviceable in Hell but doesn't scale into Inferno.

got it thank you. Thankfully that is not going to change my play style all that much I rely on serenity for "oh shit" moments mainly

I put somethings on the auction house but none of it sold. I looked at the going rate for similar items and matched the lowest buyout price but no go. Is it worth taking the time to sell lower level items at this point or should I just sell to vendors until I'm higher level?

Personally my favorite all-around setup is: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#fZXVjQ!aYe!bZZcYa

The runes aren't dead-on required, particularly on Prep, MoD or Impale. Multishot can be whatever decent spammable AoE support you want really, I just prefer Multishot for the stagger.

I'm honestly surprised it wasn't just given a 5s cooldown. I mean, it already has the shortest length on an invuln button. Shortening it some more? Why?

I know everyone keeps saying it. But wait until Act 2 Inferno. And by Act2 inferno, I mean killing the elite packs and not skipping past them. Vit stacking in inferno right now might get you to the point of being 2 shot versus 1. And Vit/Resist stacking could get you to 3 or 4 shots, but your dps would hurt so tremendously that any trash pack you tried to kill would hit its 'Enrage Timer' before you killed it. Meaning it would gain a 70 or 80 yard radius 'Aura' that does like 70k damage a second to anyone in the area.

Stacking Vit and Resists at the expense of DPS is something a lot of us have tried already, it doesnt always work out.

Serenity isn't good enough come tanking in Hell :x Mantra + BoP is your Healing/Tanking button, not an oh shit button.

Pretty much. Now that I've gotten over the initial gear curve for Hell, Hell is pretty much almost /afk difficulty until nasty elite packs. And by that I mean Arcane + Plague/Desecreate/Molten.

I wouldn't bother ever selling anything to the vendors, you should just salvage the items at the blacksmith instead.

Does anyone pick up the vender trash? i.e. non magic items?

Nope, not worth the bag space. Not worth their sell value. Utterly worthless in every way.

Plagued arcane enchanted frozen 4 pack in a corridor= Nope.

I really do wish there were less corridors and more larger open areas to fight in. I hope the randomizer gets some large opal, square and other shaped open rooms with LoS items/pillars and multiple levels and the like in the first expansion. I love movement based battle on my DH. The stop shoot cancel move-esque fast paced fighting. Too bad its all mostly long cramped hallways so far :(
