Did anyone get XBL Arcade yet?

I've actually put it in my shopping cart twice... both times I stopped and decided I wasn't shelling out the $5 for shipping. Still holding out for a free disc to show up at my game store or OXM.

this could have been big for Microsoft if the games were 1/2 the money and you didn;t have ti buy a special disk for it. make it a download from regular xbox live for god sakes.

Content: good
Price: nowhere near reasonable

The price isn't a problem. Just like on the internet, you'll most likely be trying out the games. Bejeweled is $20 on the internet, but the free version offers enough entertainment for the occasional play. I expect the Arcade version to be similar.

That's odd...my Xbox Live account expired around June, and I hadn't bothered to renew it yet...and they went and sent me a copy of the Xbox arcade disc for free with some Xbox Live propaganda magazine. Ordered neither nor filled out any forms or questionaires indicating i was interested in the thing.

Now I have a standalone Ms Pac-man disc until i renew.

Looks that way... put out a question to a relatively hardcore audience and get zero responses. Sorry Jesiatha, a good idea with bad implementation.

Even I don't have the real disc yet (although our head tester does).

I'm not sure how soon fulfillment will have them sent out - I would hope they're in the mail now, but I'm not sure of that.

I am extremely frustrated about the way the Arcade turned out. I'm currently working on some fun games for it, I just hope it doesn't die off before they get released.

If we can get it to the point where it is easy, convenient, and fun to play an old arcade game or some short game (like a game of checkers) while waiting for your friends to get online and play a retail title - that's when I think we've succeeded.

I'll get it once they offer the front end as a free download over Live! directly to my Xbox. Or when I can find the disc in stores for free.

MS has made a big deal over Xbox Live! Arcade. I'm shocked they would let it die off. Anyway, what is the chance of offering the front end as a free download? Much easier to get Xbox Live! arcade into Live! owners homes than trying to charge them 5 bucks for the disc.

I don't expect it to die off either, I just worry about it being anemic.

Chance of downloading directly to the Xbox: 0%. There will not be a dashboard update for it.

Chance of getting it "free": decent. We're trying to get the launcher packed in on all sorts of stuff. If you want Ms. Pac-Man, you'll probably need to buy the disc (although it will be bundled with something small that is not yet announced). However, we should be able to put the launcher with no free game on future OXM discs, hopefully on some first party titles, etc. I'm not sure if we'll be able to put it out for free in stores.

The disc really should be in stores for free if this thing has any chance of surviving. Forcing people to get off their lazy asses to mail $5 for a "free" item is asking too much, even if Ms PacMan is on it. People are too lazy to mail in rebates. Now you're having them pay on top of that? No thanks.

A thousand pardons for the bump, sahibs, but I'm just wondering -- has anyone on the forum actually received their discs/bought a game through Arcade yet?

I'm all for the allowing of the 6-8 weeks, but c'mon now -- I still haven't had the disc show up, and I'm really really ready to get my Fuzzee Fever on before the Introductory Pricing expires!

Also, digging through the list of available titles, Ricochet Lost Worlds (http://www.xbox.com/en-us/livearcade/default.htm) looks to be a (woefully less colorful) console port of BreakQuest. Oddly, I'd be far more apt to pay for full versions of indie jazz if I could play it from the comfort of my plush sofa.

IF ONLY I HAD THE CHANCE.

Jesiatha -- throw some weight around the office and let's get this hamsterball rolling!

I received my disc a while ago Brandonnn, right after Thanksgiving and I ordered it through their website.

I haven't purchased any games because Xbox Live Arcade has become a resounding dissapointment. The prices are ridiculously expensive and there are all sorts of nagging issues I have with the frontend (plus Ms. PacMan is emulated atrociously).

Once they release Hamsterball for purchase I'll consider downloading it, depending on the price of course.

Well what the frog. I'm still at "Order Status: Order Submitted"!

From what I've seen, the pricing for the indie stuff is perfectly in line with what you'd expect to pay for a full pc version, it's just that in the days of the bargain-starved CheapAssGamer grabbing month-old multimillion dollar epics for a twenty, that price doesn't have quite as attractive a ring to it. It's also possible that I'm just part of a dying breed that'd rather see that twenty go to the guy hacking away in his bedroom, living on a shoestring and a dream.

Either way, I'll grant you that $15 for the Namco collection might be pushing it.

You're not part of a dying breed, you're just looking in the wrong place. You'd be suprised of how popular and flourishing the indie scene is.

I expected the prices to be cheaper than what they offered for their PC brethren considering the platform and complete obscurity of the products. I do understand the economics of it so while I lament the desicion I'm happy for the developers and their expanded market. The service is a GREAT thing for console-oriented gamers who don't have the pleasure of playing these games and I'm happy that Microsoft saw fit to release this product for their console.

EDIT:
If you really want to see your $20 go to the garage guy (which is quite a rarity these days) then visit igf.com RIGHT NOW. There are so many brilliant games on showcase along with development statistics related to each project. Awesome website, awesome competition.
