Did y'all know there is a Bloodborne PS1 Demake? Father Gascoigne Gameplay

Happy to finally show off the Gascoigne boss fight, which has been in development for a while now!

Featuring music by TheNobleDemon:

She created both the incredible rendition of the boss music and the music that plays during the cutscene. I worked with her to set up and integrate the music into the code base so everything triggers at the correct places.

The level also has some new additions, like the clocktower + its bell tolling and the green lighting which was common in the leaked Project Beast footage. It also feels a lot more retro compared to Bloodborne PS4's pale blue / monochrome lighting so I decided to add it in.

All that said, there's still a long ways to go with this fight. The biggest thing is that the attack animation count for each of the three forms needs to be higher, but there's also smaller things like the fog wall, popping between animation transitions and more!

Thats super cool! I dig the feeling of PS1 era visuals haha

But its not a Bloodborne PC rumor, so people might not like this...

Pretty sure the PS1 version would NOT have N64 music quality. hahha

This vid just goes to show how far we have NOT come in terms of combat mechanics.

Pretty cool, kinda looks like Nightmare Creatures.

But whoever did the music must be mistaking Playstation for a Nintendo console? Even if the games didn't have redbook audio, the Playstation's sound format was amazing.. Vagrant Story is a good example.

When people have access to rendering filters I feel like they lay it on a bit thick sometimes. Was ps1 really this much of a texture warping mess?

Yes on the amount of warping, though some parts of this demo warp in more of a wave like pattern unlike on ps1 which jumped around more like moving pieces on a grid that snapped back and forth.

OMG thats so epic lol. It even has a remix of the glorious ,music.

Having said that, dem wobbly and flickery graphics. How on earth did we enjoy this back then lol.

These are always fun to see, but I don't know why anyone would actually want to PLAY this over the actual game. Which is why most of these demakes are just videos and very rarely an actual playable game.

No it's not this bad for PS1 games. While PS1 (and saturn) didn't have a z buffer, many engines took this into account and even the worse texture warping wasn't as bad as this filter makes it out to be.
Takes MGS1 as an example:

Yes. No Z buffer.

Worse than this .
You both have bad memories. No one would have been happy playing PS1 games if texture warping was this bad. It's almost nauseating in this video.

now I wanna see someone actually making a PS1 version.

this, while looking kinda cool in a away, doesn't actually consider any PS1 limitations. the poly count is way too high for example.

PS1 was literally used as a CD player for years by audiophiles due to the quality of the sound chip/cleanness of sound, and they gave us some weird 16 bit Sega Genesis sounding horseshit music? Weird choice.

Graphically that's awesome and a trip down memory lane.

A bit disappointed this isn't running on actual hw :/

Very obviously so!

Texture warping had nothing whatsoever to do with the (lack of) z-buffer. That was the lack of perspective correction for textures which meant that the more you stretched a poly, the more distorted the result. The only workaround being subdividing (tessellating) surfaces into smaller triangles so as each one would require less manipulation/

To appreciate the technical skills getting it to run.

Like playing COD wii or streetfighter on spectrum etc...

But if not running native is more a concept than proof of skills...

Is this a native PS1 game though? I thought it was just approximating one, like most demakes like this.
