Did you know that Paul W.S. Anderson (AvP) directed a "sequel" to Blade Runner?

Writer David Peoples has said that Soldier is a "side-quel" to Blade Runner (which he also wrote) because it takes place in the same universe and in fact the vehicles used by the Blade Runners, spinners, are also used in Solider.

Spinners were also in Back to the Future Part II, so does that put BTTF in the same universe as Blade Runner?

First tragedy, then farce.
wow, that was a really bad movie. It was sorta fun in a guilty way, but man was it bad.

I just watched it for the first time. I avoided it because people always talked about how bad it was, but I've seen much much worse. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe because I'm a sucker for sci fi backdrops(thank you HBO HD),stoicism, and characters that use stealth. It defintely had it's problems but it's no AVP or MK Annihalation. Plus, Kurt Russel just rules. He's Snake damnit.

I enjoyed it! A great B-movie. That fight the two soldiers have outside is great fun. I seem to recall someone batting someone else with a giant girder pulled out of the ground. A bit like in Powerstone.

I actually really like Soldier... has a decent commentary track too IIRC. I don't remember seeing Spinners in Soldier... must be somewhere in the beginning of the movie...

No the spinners were one of the first peices of trash on the junk planet, and pretty much the only other reference to Blade Runner were some of the names of the battles that Kurt Russel fought in were mentioned in BR.

The only reason I remember this movie is because I saw it shortly after dicovering AICN, and Harry Knowles going apeshit insane at Anderson for ruining what he said was one of the best Sci-fi scripts hes ever read.

I tried looking for the script on the internet, but all I can seem to find are what I'm assuming to be shooting scripts.

Apparently Soldier was one of the best scripts floating around Hollywood in it's day. Anderson turned it into a piece of shit though, and that is one of the main reasons lot's of geeks started hating him.

I'd love to read the original version, if anybody can find it please tell me :) The movie was horrible though, I really loathe Paul W.S. Anderson.
