Did you like Mario Kart Double Dash?

I've heard alot of mixed opinions on this game, some people liked it while others thought it was a letdown.

I really enjoyed it but I just wish the single player could of been longer.

What about you?

The multiplayer battle maps SUCKED and there were only 6 maps ? WTF Nintendo ? I liked the 4 Mario Kart64 battle maps more than Double Dash's

I thought single player was a complete breeze and with some of the more boring course designs in the series (except DK Barrel lvl, which was awesome).

But as always, it's an extremely tight multiplayer game that is probably worth a purchase at 20 dollars. In dire need of more multiplayer maps, though.

Personally, I was way more taken with F-Zero GX, not that they're really comparable other than being racing games. F-Zero GX is one of my favorite games ever.

Dissapointed. The track design was limp, and the content lacking. Dual-driver system was underutilized, and the multiplayer was even more shallow than the popular-but-minimalist N64 duels 7 years previous. Big N really dropped the ball on what shoulda been a seminal entrant in the franchise.

I'm optimistic for MKDS though.

never managed to get many interested in multi :( single player was a lot of fun though.

Never finished the single player (16 races is too long when most tracks arn't fun) but the multiplayer is really good. Needed more and better maps (even remakes of the N64 version battle maps) but the multiplayer was so easy to pick up I could play it with my friends and ,unlike other cube multiplayer games (at the time), I didn't win everytime :)
I don't think it's worth 50$ but Nintendo doesn't lower the price.

Next Mario Kart NEEDS a map builder.

Didn't really get into it. Mario kart has always been about multiplayer for me...unfortunately there were too few maps in DD and the ones that were there were pretty boring, me and my friends would get bored after about 10 minutes.

I loved it and thought it provided a different flavor to Mario Kart games. I would always try out different character/kart combos here and there to freshen things up. We mainly play peach beach, daisy cruiser, dk mountain and baby park. There seems to always be a chaotic finish when we do DK Mountain.

My first introduction to Mario Kart Double Dash was one slow evening in my college dorm room when one of my room mates throws open the door and announces that we'll all be playing the new Mario Kart game. Playing this game with your friends pretty much equals fun, provided your friends aren't cheap bastards who smack controllers out of your hand.

Single player is pretty unfulfilling and the battle maps I didn't really care for. This game really shines when you've got people around to play with you. The level design and other lacking areas aren't as apparent when you're busy trying to beat out your friends.

For me, single player was the best part. On the higher difficulties the AI can be just plain evil and they will use every weapon in the book to beat you. I loved that because it made it all the more satisfying when you won. It also made it extra satisfying when you nailed your rival with your weapon of choice. I ended up unlocking everything in the game so maybe that's why I felt that I got more out of it. Its definitely the kind of game where how much you get out of it depends on how much you put in IMO.

I absolutely adore the game, for the core gameplay, feel, aesthetic, you name it. The flaws it has hurts a lot more because the game could have shot through the stratosphere with them addressed:

- Needs at least one more cup of main tracks, could really stand two more.
- Battle Mode freakin' hurts, it's so limited thanks to the small number of poor arenas.
- Characters, karts, and in-race track graphics and effects are awesome, but the overall presenatation and polish of the game around it - everything from menus to ending credits - is rather below-par for Nintendo.

In spite of those issues, love the game. It's brilliant. It's odd for me that lots of people insist most Nintendo big name games this gen are "rushed"... Mario Kart: DD is the one title I feel was indeed rushed to a point it was hurt. I didn't think Mario Sunshine or Zelda: TWW had a big sore thumb of incompletness. (Even with the noted scrapped dungeons in TWW.)

It was pretty good, a little disappointing though. I have found that the multiplayer was much more fun with my family and other non-gamers than it was with experienced gamers, we had a blast.

The game was great for the most part. However, battlemode was lacking bigtime IMO. Unfortuntely that's what gives this game legs with me so I barely play it anymore. =_(

GP mode is great though, I actually LOVE playing two players per kart and racing. Good times!

I was late with buying a Cube but I got the Mario Kart Bundle, it's the one game I'm still playing regularly. I don't know whether I like DD more or Super Circuit.

I didn't like it. I found that again this installement was too shallow and based on luck a little bit too much. I'm still waiting for a Mario Kart game that is as skilled based and well done as Super Mario Karts. Also waiting for a battle mode as good SMK's one.

co-op was great

multiplayer battle was worse than 64, maybe just because the standards are higher now though..

good fun, but too few levels by far.. a game like this would be great with content download..

No. It would be better to have more level at first and no downlaod content.

why not both?

Sure but only if they can prove me that they couldn't offer the download content right off the bat. Do you know that most download content is done AT THE SAME TIME as the game and that those level are kept away from you on the sole purpose to be sold seperately later?

Love the game, but had far more fun doing the various cups with four people than the battle mode. And you can't beat 9 laps vs. on Yoshi's course with crazy items.

I like the game, but it just doesn't get played enough to justify keeping it. I think I will trade it in for credit soon.

My wife is too busy playing WoW to even care about it.

Loved the Single and Multiplayer races. Wish there had been better shortcuts though.

I refuse to accept that the game actually does have a battle mode.

I think it's the first Mario Kart where the vs. mode is the most fun. I think that's a good thing because that's where most of the tracks are. In every other Mario Kart my firends never want to play vs, but in this one, no one ever wants to play battle. I thought shine theif was pretty fun, and never got to play a game of the bob-omb mode. Normal battle is not terrible, but not too great either.

I like single player mode, and the 16 track circuit, but the computer cheeses so goddamn much that it's a HUGE turnoff. As soon as I get into 1st place I get whacked with a blue shell. Every fucking time, like clockwork.

I kinda hate Co-op mode, because if I'm in the back, it's boring because my partner never powerslides. There's not much cooperation going on, one guy usually just drives for the whole circuit.

Overall, it's fun for multiplayer. The game helps whoever is losing more than any other Mario Kart.

I think it's easily the best in the series. The only crappy part about it was the lame battle mode.

But it has the best single player of the series, hectic as hell. And the multiplayer is awesome thanks to the multiple ways you can play. Having two players in one kart is awesome and when you both get the hang of working with each other, switching off, it's great fun. The level design was pretty brilliant I thought too.

It's funny, the people who hate it are the same people who go "MARIO CART IS LIEK THE SAME EVERY GAME WTF REHAHS", which is completely untrue. SMK and Super Circuit playerd alike. Mario Kart 64 had a completely different feeling, and DD!! was an extension of that, but nothing like any other Mario Kart (slower, but much more hectic).

Loved it ---- The Duel-Cart thing really attracted a lot of people that I usually don't play games with, and that's always fun.

That being said ---- the concept of MK: BattleMode is old and exhausted ...... The next MK that really peaks our interest is gonna need a reinvention.
Yes, BattleMode will always be classic ---- but we all have so many hours locked away in it, there isn't much more joy to be found.

MK: DD tracks were a mix .... they were all good, but there were 2 or 3 that really showed how much potential there could've been.

I loved the original SMK.
I loved MK 64.
I loved MK: SC.
I liked MK: DD!!

I liked it enough, but there were parts that were just very dull. I don't know. I ought to play the game again though, that's for sure. I'm one of the few, but I thought the 2-riders per kart thing was pure genuis, and I admit should come back to another MK title sometime.

I thought the game was fantastic and everytime my cousins (aged 9) come over to stay we play the game practically all night. Its a game to play with people who aren't really that much into games.

Initially I was disappointed with the battle mode but over time have come to appreciate the mcuh smaller, simpler maps and have found that everything in this game is superior to the N64 game.
