It never occurred to me to see which Digimon were our starter options until this thread; I guess I'll go with Terriermon because Tamers is the GOAT series, and because they're adorable.

Get 3 of them. Then just bench them until you need them.

Near the end of the game, remember to DIgivolve them to Etemon -> PlatNumemon. (one at a time so the other 2 can serve as exp boosters until you get your first PlatNumemon).

The earlier, the better. Like I said, you can just bench them and only bring them out when you need to level.

They also have a useful skill called (in Japanese, probably in English as well?) Character Reverse which inflicts the Bug status. (taken from a guide on gamefaqs since it's a perfectly good description: "The Bug condition flips the Digimon's attribute strengths and weaknesses. Remains for the duration of the battle."

Not sure what other Digimon can learn it but having PlatSukamon helped me out a few times with Character Reverse.

I forget which rookies Digivolve into PlatSukamon but I know Hagurumon does.

Motimon -> Hagurumon -> PlatSukamon -> Etemon -> PlatNumemon

iirc is how it goes. (I know that's how I got PlatNumemon near the end of the game when I needed some Mega powered Digimon with the EXP up abilities)

Can't wait for tomorrow. The SMT vibe sold me on this game. I haven't played a digimon game since Digimon World on playstation. Been awhile. Pokemon has become a bit stagnant to me so I'm hoping for a fresh monster experience with this.

It was well received in Japan (and even got some Game of the Year accolades).

It was also pretty well loved by those of us who imported the game. If you read through the import OT linked in the OP the praise was very strong.

What 'starter' digimon are you guys picking? I'mma go with Hagurumon :B

I was originally pick one at random and then dump it but then I saw that Hagurumon evolves into Justimon so I decided to pick him.

The digimon that I plan to use are War Greymon, Jesmon, Justimon, Metal Garurumon, Beelzebumon (Blast Mode) and Tiger Vespamon.

Digimon Capture

When you encounter an enemy Digimon in the field, the Digimon Capture program will automatically scan it. If you accumulate 100% or more of a particular Digimon’s data, it is possible to convert that data in the DigiLab. The larger the percentage you scan, the more that will be added to the converted Digimon’s base abilities.

Tip: It is a good idea to wait for 200% (the max) before converting a Digimon.

Babies can get up to 200% quickly. Anything above the Child level would take far too long for that to really be viable.

They need to be in your active battle party when you finish the fight (aka not in the back line). You can even use 3 once they are strong enough and it is enough to grind those that are in the back line.

They aren't necessary but they help a LOT if you like to grind Digimon/digivolve a lot of Digimon. They also help a lot near the end when trying to get certain Digimon that requires a lot of leveling/Digivolving/De-Digivolving.

I'd recommend getting them and keeping them for when you need to grind. It helps so much and makes raising different kinds of Digimon so easy.

They also stack with EXP USB (equipable items) which are rare but there is one or two Digimon that drops them near the end of the game (and I think you can get them by telling one of your Digifarms to look for items)

Makes getting to level 99 effortless near the end of the game (which can help if you're grinding different Digimon for the DLC Demon Lords battles or for the final bosses in the game)

The lack of more than three armor evolutions is definitely odd, but they already had 240 Digimon in, and there probably would have been a lot more work to get even more done.

I think they figured that lacking more armors wouldn't be the biggest dealbreaker for people, so they just fit in the two most popular ones, plus Rapidmon Armor which isn't too much more work compared to the Perfect version of Rapidmon.

I figure that if they make a sequel/new Digimon Story game (which I expect), then we'll likely see a much larger number of armor evolutions possible.
