Discursive Ramblings on EGM Top 200 List

Just got around to reading EGM 200.

So I guess Dave Jaffe is a god among men now:

From Hideo Kojima:
A game with soul that transcends borders and cultures...I truly feel that God of War is a great culmination of Western and Japanese game design.

No wonder this guy has been offering his opinion on anything and everything lately...Hideo gave him his insider card.

Is that spread gun worth sacrificing your human co-op partner for? You know the answer.

That shit happened to men so many times. Just remembering it had me laughing.

Che's score of PDZero is a classic case for two scores, one for the online portion of the game and one for the single player. He says that he,
can't really defend PDZ's single-player campaign against Shoe's laundry list of complaints
. So don't. Call the game out and give it a five. Giving it a 9 for online only is disingenuous.

This is still a damn good magazine, IMO.

Having a Top 200 games of their time list was way retarded. Imagine how stupid a similar list would be for music or movies.

Why would it be stupid for movies?

Which movie would you want to watch now, the original King Kong or the new one? The new one.

Which was better for its time? The old one.

If it was just of all time, there would be almost no old games on the list, no matter how great they were.

About the Phantasy Star 2 entry (I don't have the magazine in front of me to get the number): I've been saying that all along. PS2 did practically everything that made FF7 so popular only it did it 8 years earlier.
