Disgaea® 5 Complete is heading to Nintendo Switch™ in Spring 2017 as a physical and digital release in both North America and Europe, dood!

About the Game:
Disgaea 5 Complete is a strategy RPG that offers hundreds of hours of over-the-top, award-winning gameplay, and marks the first time the core game is available on-the-go. The game includes all 8 bonus scenarios, 4 fan-favorite characters, and 3 character classes that were originally DLC in the PlayStation®4 release of Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance.

About the Story:
Disgaea 5 Complete tells a tale of revenge and rebellion. As a new and terrible Overlord named Void Dark seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds, one young demon has stood to end his reign—Killia. In Disgaea 5 Complete, lead Killia and his tenacious army of rebels on their dark and dangerous path to vengeance. Filled with more over-the-top action and hilarious writing than ever before, Disgaea 5 Complete's damage numbers are surely headed for the record books.

Game's releasing May 23rd in the US, May 26th in Europe.

Outside of Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2, this is my most anticipated NS game. I was going to import, but decided that the discount I get from Amazon Prime was worth the wait. Gonna be cool to roll with Laharl and company again, too.

Has anyone played the JP version and can compare it to the performance of the PS4 version?

There are streams available and I haven't see any performance issue. NIS themselves said they didn't have to downgrade anything to make the game running on Switch.

Depending on how this runs compared to the PS4 version, I'll probably end up double dipping. Never played Disgaea on a portable but it seems like a great way to play it.

I couldn't wait and downloaded this with an Amazon Japan code, and yeah, it's pretty special. It runs flawlessly in both docked and handheld mode, and it looks gorgeous on that screen to the point where I think I will play handheld more than docked.

wonder why it need 2 full month to release in the NA/UK since the japan version is already has the english dub/subtitl, oh well,1 month to go .

Yeah, but didn't the PS4 version have a ton of slowdown, due to all the number crunching the game does? I would suspect that's where the difference might be.

Pretty sure you're thinking of earlier Disgaeas.

Devs have promised it runs the same. And people have the Japanese version already. If there were issues with the Switch version we'd know by now.

From what I can tell it always is.
The systems got much better though.

Here's my question though.

I like playing tactical games like FFT, Shining Force, Fire Emblem, X-COM.

I like focusing on ability ranges and patterns and positioning.

I do NOT enjoy micromanaging every step I take because of color puke all over the ground that may or may not deal ongoing damage, or reduce my damage, or help the enemies in some way. I don't want to have to start every combat by taking stock of where the crystals are so I can plan out placement and combo destroy them just to play the game like a normal tactics game (except the fight is generally over by that point from the color combo damage).

Does Disgaea 5 eliminate or minimize that stuff? Can I just focus on playing and not have to watch the ground constantly?

you'll have a lot of spells you can power up and expand ranges for. some special moves will have a consistent way to attack while magic spells usually give you some variety (usually nine ways to attack). among your crew you can decide who works best in what scenario, or if no one works best, who to let hang back and take some of the damage until things are in a better position on the next turn.

i haven't played a disgaea game in about 6 years though.
