Disney+ working on a Animorphs series

I can see the commercial appeal of such a series with the number of kids who self identify as animals and the popularity of shapeshifting romance YA novels. This will also be popular with furries and adult dogs/ponies.

Coogler producing a new Animorphs series was not on my bingo card. I've always thought animorphs was extremely dumb, but Coogler also absolutely killed it with Sinners, so who knows.

Eh, he's executive producing. Which generally means "I'm putting some money into this project so I can profit off of it", and involves very little creative contribution, if any at all.

Liked the series as a kid but lost interest somewhere when the books reached the 30s volumes. I get the impression it tried too hard to be dark or sad based off things I've heard about the end of the series and I can't see myself revisiting it or finishing the story because of that.

Yea, the author keeps denying it or its a vague mess, but I think that's when it went full ghostwriting mode shortly before that. She would just write down a few plot notes, and some random writing intern filled in the rest.

never knew animorphs went under the disney umbrella

One of the cool things about Sinners was that it wasn't a remake or reboot. So it's kinda grim that what's next is reviving another 90s IP for children.

This has the potential to go the way of the Willow "sequel." For fans, I hope that's not the case.

I have no faith in DisneyMinus to produce anything really of value. Even Andor was just pieces of great in loooooooong episodes that needed an editor.
