You realize how unique and intentional that was as a subversion of the cliche at the time, right? Especially where Disney was concerned?
I'm glad Jafar is hot now. Too often in films, pretty = good and ugly = bad. Time to show that evil comes in all shapes and sizes.
He looks waaaaaaaay too nice. I wish prince was still alive. He would've been the pick.
Looks a bit young for the Jafar role, no?
He can look older and not ugly. This guy looks way too friendly to be a villain in a simple children movie
Guy Ritchie directing kills my excitement for this movie. His style is so predictable at this point I feel like I've already seen the movie.
Maybe in this version, Jafar is Aladdin's long lost brother. They were separated at birth and Jafar was found by some palace worker and he grew up to be Vizier. What a twist!
That'd be cool. They'd have to do something to make him creepier though. A brother wanting his brothers lover doesn't seem creepy enough compared to the cartoon Jafar.Maybe in this version, Jafar is Aladdin's long lost brother. They were separated at birth and Jafar was found by some palace worker and he grew up to be Vizier. What a twist!
Do people really think that Aladdin is going to be like Snatch because Guy Ritchie is the director?
I still think Alexander Siddig would have been perfect, but I'm keeping an open mind.
Guy Ritchie turned King Arthur into a streewise criminal raised in a whorehouse.
Guy Ritchie can't be stopped.
He looks waaaaaaaay too nice. I wish prince was still alive. He would've been the pick.
Expecting a strong rivalry between Hot Jafar and Aladin now
A "you and I are not so different" speech is inevitable
You mean like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and the Queen from Snow White? Those are two of Disney's most iconic villains and were both known for their beauty, especially the latter.
Some of you have very limiting views on villains. There are many good looking villains going all the way back to Dracula. That makes for a more interesting dynamic than some ugly dude who's easy to hate on because of his looks.
It's not about the surprise, it's about how people are saying Jafar shouldn't be handsome.Being surprised by the casting of a young and handsome dude as Jafar when everyones image of Jafar is from the cartoon isn't having a limited view on villains.
This whole cast just gonna make Jasmine stick out like a sore thumb
Looks a bit young for the Jafar role, no?
It does feel like they are going for a method of using comparison and parallel to make the rivalry between Aladdin and Jafar much more personal.
The entire cast could be dogs and this would still hit close to a billion.Disney now contrasts quite a bit with Disney from 7 years ago. Prince of Persia had an all white cast in spray tan apart from Ben Kingsley and this is going with (mostly) non-white actors.
So is this CGI bullshit like The Lion King or are real people getting dressed up?
He looks waaaaaaaay too nice. I wish prince was still alive. He would've been the pick.
So the only lead not to be Arabic or from Maghreb descents is the women?
Great Job Disney...
That's a fuckin shame.I think Hollywood really hates Arab women. They might cave and have an Arab guy have a role here and there, but forget about Arab women.
Looks a bit young for the Jafar role, no?
That's a fuckin shame.
