Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition - Before & After Changes

Still no news on combat (movement/ability) animation skipping? That's all it'll take for me to get into this game properly after bouncing off it hard the first time.

I was not impressed by the wasteland2 update but this one... I'm imagining playing the hell out of this. I hope they did some rebalancing though since some of the skills seemed like just straight up weaker than others and had no real use. Also some strategies felt overpowered, although I know they addressed some OP effects (like blind I think with a cooldown increase).

They've voice recorded all the dialogue in the game?? Damn that must have been a lot of work.

In the Classic RPG Panel at PAX (that you can hear here) Josh Sawyer said that Fallout: New Vegas had the record for the game with more recorded lines, after saying how many lines they were (I don't remember exactly how many) Swen said that they beat them with DOS: EE. So yeah, it must have been a massive job.

Now I have to hold off playing the game until the update comes out.

Heh, I just wanted to post exactly this, in reply to the same post.

It wasn't originally good, but they've rewritten it all.

From the OP:

Well I guess that sounds like an attempt for improvement at least. Most of the stories in these games are just rambling uininteresting cliches, but look forward to reading some reviews first I suppose.

How does this compare to The Witcher 3? I don't remember the number but I know it was a ton.

Been waiting to play this since the EE was announced. Tried the original release and loved the gameplay but there were so many big games out at the time I decided to wait. Are we sure this is coming tomorrow on Steam? If so this is freaking awesome! It's a whole new download though right?

Hmm, I wonder where Witcher 3 would end up on that list. Seems like it should be up there.

Re: D:OS- man, I think it's a colossal mistake releasing now. Just feels like it's going to be swept under the rug which is shame since it's an amazing game.

Cant wait for this. Glad I held off playing it for this. I have a feeling its going to be my game of the year. HYPE!!

Ooo free update for people whoäs all ready purchased it, that's a business practice I can get behind. Will have to give this another go, hopefully I can get into it this time.

I think that's the main problem. My personality dictates I go down that log like a shopping list and do them individually one at a time and then the pain kicks in. Trying to kick the habit to the curb and just enjoy the game and explore but it just isn't working.

Might give the EE a go again since I get it for free.

Venture forth and be free of the OCD! :)

Loving those changes. Couldn't play much of the original (ha!) game, but looks like I'll have to give the Enhanced Edition a try! :D

I have a vanilla Original Sin game that I was like 50 hours in and haven't touched for months sitting in my HDD but after watching this video, I might just scrap that version completely for this enhanced version. That loot change is a game changer for me. I hated the loot system in original sin. The old UI sucked as well.

I have the PC version..whish I could continue my game with the new controller support instead of starting over,I am like 40 hours in,which I will never do lol...this game is hard at first.

Put like 30 hours into this with a friend but never finished it. Loved it. Definitely going to take it for another spin from the beginning with all these additions.

Is it just as fun playing solo?

Not 60FPS on consoles and at a price hike, means I'll be waiting to pick this up. 30FPS I could maybe swallow, but a console tax for "reasons" is a bit much.

It's not just "reasons." Console manufacturers and publishers increase the cost.

Absolutely. (Or, at least, DOS was.)

Can't imagine it's a step back at all. Larian has put a lot of work into it.

50% price hike though? I obviously don't work in the Vidya Game industry but that seems like an INCREDIBLE "console tax" to pass on to the consumer.

It's never been on consoles, they had to spend time and money porting it over. I don't think the price is unreasonable at all.

Of course it's a price hike. It's a hike over what the game was previously offered at. When has a game done that before? The last two games that I grabbed on console that started off on the PC were Diablo and Wasteland 2 and neither increased the price over their original PC offering. I get that both published it themselves but if that's what InFocus is taking as their cut, maybe trust in the 40 dollar price point that that wont hurt that much.

Wow that looks awesome! I haven't played the vanilla version and wasn't really interested in it, but after watching the video I am super tempted to pick it up. The only thing that's holding me back is the probably hundreds of hours of playtime needed to beat it...

It's a big game but it's not Witcher or Skyrim-big

I played through vanilla start to finish in coop, we did every single thing we could find and the final playtime was 66 hours.

It's big, but not hundreds and hundreds of hours big.

So question for veterans of the game. I really don't like managing more than 1-2 player characters and I know that they give you two right of the bat with the ability to grab 2 more.

Is the game in anyway at all beatable with just your two created characters? And if so are there only certain combinations that can do it successfully?

The bottom line is, it's not the same game. Aside from the money split due to retail and publishing stuff, Larian has put significant effort into making it a console-quality game; I think sheer effort poured into rewriting and voicing the entire game would be proof enough of this.

Now, if DOS is any indication, it will be well worth the money. The previous, less featured version, was certainly worth $40.

The Lone Wolf trait is for you. Reduces party cap by 1, but improves the stats of the character in question. It will probably be more difficult, but it's definitely a viable path.

Each character can take a Lone Wolf skill which reduces max party size by one in return for big combat/skill bonuses. So yeah, it's beatable and I wouldn't worry too much about composition.

I prefer having a full party though.

That sounds good. I haven't picked up the Witcher because of the playtime.
I put 100 hours into Skyrim - once and never again.

I played through vanilla start to finish in coop, we did every single thing we could find and the final playtime was 66 hours.

It's big, but not hundreds and hundreds of hours big.
66 hours sounds like a decent time, considering you guys did every single thing. I think I'm gonna pick it up.

Thanks both of you!

Of course the other solution to only wanting to control a couple of characters is to get a friend and play through it in coop.

But yea Lone Wolf is what you're looking for if you are playing on your own.

Excellent stuff.

Looking forward to poisoning things and then setting them on fire. With large burning rocks.

From the sky.
