Couch coop isn't better on consoles (in fact, you often have to make framerate concessions on consoles).

What is true is that couch coop is usually better on a couch, but that doesn't preclude using a PC. In fact, these days there's a huge variety of options available to facilitate that.
 
I'm gonna start this once it drops. OS has been in my backlog for a while and playing it comfy couch mode sounds great.
 
I could never really get into this one even though it looked like something I'd really enjoy. I think I just had a case of the "oh my god there's no pre-made characters I'm going to make a horrible build fuckfuckFUCK" paralysis. I still have it installed in my Steam library, though, so this will be a good excuse to give it another go.
 
Ooo i just read that duel-wielding is finally going to be in this. One of the reasons I dropped the game was because of the utter ridiculous combat animation where the character first uses his equipped weapon and then for some reason palm strikes with his other hand.

I just watched the video and despite only dabbling a bit in the original game myself, the video does an impressive job highlighting many of the 'broad' components that make this appear to be a major overhaul. Worth a watch as it seems a hefty amount of work was really put into improving all aspects of the game design and even visuals since the original launch over a year ago.

I found it hard not to walk away strongly optimistic after that video. I pre-ordered it on PS4 immediately.
 
I feel like so much changed that they can't just do a change log or something. From the video it looks like basically everything was tweaked or changed somehow. The new spell effects look nice.
 
Sound's great even though I won't really have the time to play it for a while I will buy it the day it's out. Really like game's like this and want it to do well so more games like this could have a chance of coming to console.

Well it's a tactical RPG with a bunch of loot management, I'd imagine m+kb is still the king. I might give playing with a controller a try myself, though.

Just wish I had a friend who has into these kind of games to play coop with me. I play a bunch of coop stuff with my brother, but I doubt he's really into RPGs.

They've done a couple videos showing off the controller interface and it looks nice and well done. I'm going to give it a shot on my EE play through. Guess we won't know for sure until Tuesday though.
 
i'll be getting my steamlink and controller next month, just in time to sit down and dig into this in earnest

I bought it last year but didn't give it nearly the time or attention it deserves. Loved what I did play, though
 
If Tactician mode is simply different and not really harder then I would prefer to play that. But if its tougher than normal, I'm not sure I want to go there. I usually stick to normal difficulty and stay there with games.
 
Looking forward to this. I put 30+ hours into the Vanilla game but never finished it. Getting the EE for free means I will have no remorse about restarting and rerolling.

I believe it's meant to be more difficult with all the different battles and abilities available to monsters. Depending on how they rebalanced the second half of the game I might take a look through it down the line. The combat is so good, I hope they've buffed up some of the end game encounters.
 
What happens to my exisiting save file when it'll upgrade on 27th? Can i simply continue with all the new features or i have to start again?
 
I kind of feel like I want to play the game on explorer mode, but I don't want the game to be TOO easy. I wonder if EE still has the old difficulty levels along with the new game modes, so you could play classic on easy or explorer on hard or whatever

I don't know but I am going to just guess that you have to start a new save file on a new download of the game. This is because I am assuming D:OS EE will be a separate game in your library (steam or gog).

It will be a separate game in your library, that was confirmed a while back.

Hard to see saves being compatible.

Yeah, it will be a separate game in the library because they love JaseC they still want to give people the option to play the old game, and saves won't be compatible (quest changes make that unfeasible).
 
Only played this briefly on PC before I had to put my desk in storage. Really enjoyed the little I played though.

Just pre-ordered on PS4. I'm hoping I can get the missus into this one.

Looking forward to making a fish pie from the couch.

Couch coop on consoles is easier, and only sometimes is there a framerate concession.
Launch game, press start on another controller, easy peasy.
Huge variety of options on PC, sure, but how many hoops do you have to jump through?
That's why console gaming is popular - far less hassles.

Tactician mode is supposed to be the hardcore mode aimed at players who have mastered the game. The vanilla game had three difficulty levels (easy, normal and hard) and I assume they are still available for the classic campaign. There are more enemies and monsters are more efficient at countering tactics that were succesful in the base game.

It's good, but you'll presumably get the EE next week and your game save won't carry over.

I fear this too. PC devs often have trouble gauging proper text size on consoles at times. Some of it is thethe product of the nature of how console gamers play and some of it is just preference driven. Whatever it is, we like our text to be significantly larger than the average size of PC game text.
 
Too small Text size (and some bugs) essentially stopped my Wasteland 2 PS4 playthrough. Hope they do a better job here.
 
Between this, Wasteland 2 DC, The Witcher 3 expansion, and Fallout 4, I'm set for months of rpg goodness. This gen is now firing on all cylinders!
 
So, I never got around to finish Original Sin despite playing it for 30 hours or so. Think it's worth to start again when this one is released or continue the other one?
(I'm probably incredibly rusty with the combat system and everything so there's that to consider as well).
