Divinity | Reveal Trailer - The Game Awards

I was excited when I saw the CGI trailer, but when they revealed the name....

I hope is not tier B like the first 2 games.

We are genuinely collecting retarded hot takes today.

Anyway...
Can't say I liked the trailer a single bit. I honestly found it gratuitously gross (and NOT in a particularly intriguing way) and as a teaser it failed to tell me much about what to expect from the game.
On top of it I'll admit that I don't care a single bit for Rivellon as a setting and if it was up to me I could have gladly lived the rest of my life without ever having to interact with it.

BUT

It's Larian. At this point they gained enough credit from their past accomplishments to make me at least curious to check whatever they are doing, regardless of the setting and style.

The hope is for another CRPG with turn-based combat, since that's where their excellency lies.
Who knows. Maybe this time they'll go for third person exploration only to swap the camera during fights.

Your POST already show ALL the worries with this game. Probably Will be on witcher LINE. If It was a turn based It would be divinity original sin franchise.

Divinity 2 has been on my wishlist since before release. I absolutely loved BG3 and is arguably my favorite game of the last decade, but I still have never tried the Divinity series. Maybe it's time.

I know Original Sin was turn based. But the original Divinity had Diablo like gameplay as well as Dragon Age / Witcher style combat.

I think based on latest Divinity game this will be a third person adventure game.
While I'd be really intrigued by an ARPG from current Larian, I wouldn't be surprised if they turned it into a CRPG. It's definitely my main question for the game at the moment

edit - Now that I think about it, I guess I'd lean ARPG, because if they wanted to do another CRPG why not just name it D:OS 3 and call it a day?

Great cinematic, insanely edgy really!

Definitely an attention grabber although I'm not sure how relevant it'll be to the game experience.

We just don't know enough for now. Like Sentenza Sentenza mentioned, most likely this will go to EA on Steam first (my guess in 2027, but maybe late 2026).

So we will know more mid next year. It's Larian though and their only bad game was Beyond Divinity. DOS2 and BG3 were amazing, so I am sure they know what they are doing.

any other company would be buried, for a full cgi, zero in-game "reveal" like this.
i guess these guys reached the "cult followers" stage
The sure have. Imo they are like from. Don't need to show gameplay. We know what to expect and it will be glorious lol fuck the haters

I had to do web search to find out about this game. Never played it, and the CGI trailer while impressive, still didn't sell me the game.

No gameplay, no interest.

So you never heard of baldurs gate 3 or divinity original sin 1 and 2? Been living under a rock? Don't need gameplay to know what Larian produces.

I have heard of BG3 thanks to all the media hype but I completely ignored it once I saw the turn based gameplay. So how do you expect me to remember Larian Studio to a game that I have no interest at all?

Divine Divinity was a Diablo-like hack'n slash but with actual RPG mechanics attached to it.
Same goes for Beyond Divinity (which is a bit the redheaded stepchild of the series and everyone loves to pretend didn't exist), then you got Ego Draconis which was their only third person action RPG.
Then it was the time of Dragon Commander (a bizarre RTS with action sequences) and then they went to Kickstarter and started the Original Sin series.

It looks like Larian are looking at revisiting Divine Divinity's original dark atmosphere which was helped immensely by the late Kirill's awesome soundtrack:

Unfortunately Larian's current composer Borislav hasn't been able to match Kirill's genius in Larian's earlier titles.

Not a fan of this series tbh, the first Original Sin has cool elemental interaction during combat and co-op stuff with dialogues and shit you can do with that, but the story was meh and boring at best and I haven't even played Original Sin 2 cuz this. Now, Dragon Commander was the best Divinity game for me and a cool experiment, but gameplay was trash from the beginning to end and the whole game was basically saved by characters, writing and story.

If they'll go for Dragon Commander when it comes to characters, story and writing and have BG3-like combat, I'm all in, otherwise I don't need Original Sin-like (or the very first games in the series) game, thank you.

Fucking amazing teaser imo. Sets the tone and does some initial worldbuilding/stakes.

Article:
"Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled 'Divinity,'" said Vincke. "We're ready to bring everything we've done previously into one place. This marks the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we've created before. We've been building toward this moment ever since we took our fate into our own hands. This is the Divinity we've always wanted to make and you're going to have loads of fun with it."

Let's fucking go! 🔥

I know no one will agree with this and I am okay with it but I really hope they would rethink their combat and maybe go a bit action-y maybe?

You need to play Original Sin 2, it improved on its predesessor in every conceivable way

what made bg3 great was an extended period of early access.
if this is just a first teaser announcement, we will not see this game in a long time.

not sure what to make of the teaser in terms of atmosphere..I'm not big on body horror tbh.

Anyone else notice the lady riding the dude when the blaze was set? That was a real graphic trailer. I didn't mind, but my daughter was also watching it lol
Ok so the dude being burnt alive, flesh torn, gore everywhere... But OhNoes.. brief shot of sex!?

But man what a fucking trailer TBF, absolutely gruesome

I really hope they do early access so I can get my hands on this as soon as possible. Loved following the development during BG3 except when they made all the party members more friendly at the start 😒

Revealed nothing... Geoff said it's their biggest game? Thought they didn't wanna do more Baldur's Gate cos they didn't wanna do more on that scale and scope right away. Maybe it'll be scaled back in other ways, less in your face cut scenes, options, characters, sex, expand macro level, not micro?
Might be bigger and developed in a shorter time period due to the fact they have all the tech in place...They just need to add new stuff, not rebuild the engine like on BG3.

They should clear at least the genre it belongs to.

So that right people can get excited about it.

Personally:

CRPG : hype
ARPG : ok
3rd person: meh.

Unless they can do 3rd person action combat justice, probably better to stay away from that.

I didnt say anything of awards.

It was a good game also, but its popularity skyrocketed because bear fucking, and you know it did thats literally why you used that example.

Bg3 would never have had the eyes on it like it did if it didnt have that moment in its preview.

Why even pretend its not a thing.

Howcome people like you are always so extreme, it has to be the extreme of one or the other.

It can both be a good game but also gain popularity because of the beastiality. Theres literally a thread here on Neogaf about it when it shown originally, there were loads of articles written about it.

And you literally just watched a cg trailer with more animal fucking being glorified 🤣🤣🤣 like i dont get what your brain doesnt comprehend
The lenghts you people go...

That clip? Yeah, it went viral, spiked Steam wishlists and pre-orders (jumping ~70 spots on top sellers iirc), but it was the cherry on top, not the cake.

Play it sometime, maybe you'll learn why it's legendary

The trailer ruled and Larian don't miss. No need to be salty
im aware larian don't miss, lol

im salty about cgi trailers, the practice needed to die a decade ago, totally useless waste of everybody's time. but i guess this one will be used in the game at least, similar to bg3 intro.
maybe its the intro.

If anything, the recent Kojima thread showed me that gaffers dont actually play the games they say they do

Its not that deep bro, learn to laugh
Creepy isnt funny... its weird.

And its weirding me out a bit how cool and keen on that stuff people seem to be.

Makes me wonder what else people arent willing to draw the line at.

If the bg3 characters were underage is that still cool and hilarious?
