I'm going out bar-hopping tonight with a couple people (no classes tomorrow for us) and I've never really done the birthday thing at bars before. Do pretty much all bars give out free/cheap drinks if it's your birthday? And is it usually just one free drink or what? I want to plan out my night so I can get as drunk as possible as cheap as possible.

I've never heard of that at all. A bartender might give you a free drink just because he's a cool guy or you're a good tipper, but going in and demanding free booze is usually not a good way to get it.

Austin, TX bars for the most part will give you a free shooter or something, provided someone else purchases a drink or something, I'd imagine this is common in areas that encourage bar-hopping.

I've gone to bars a couple times for people's birthdays and I remember them getting at least one free drink at most bars.

Play your cards right and you may get -1- free drink, depending on your attitude.

I always let people in for free on their birthdays when bouncing at the door if they had a valid driver's license showing their birthdate, but then again I'm nicer than most.
