I think you're right.

What's gained out of saying you liked someone "before they were big" and then not liking them when they are, I'll never know.

Mmm but sometimes it can be for legit reasons, over exposure, band members turn into big headed twats, etc.

Could be, but in most cases isn't. At least, around here, anyway.

Band members being dick heads is not a reason to stop listening to them if it doesn't affect the quality of the music.

Good music is good music (for your taste). Who gives a shit if they get popular?.. it doesn't change the album you already have in your hands.

I'd say a bad experience with a band member (if you've actually met them or even not) can definitely sour their music IMO.

Well yes, but you're asking for it if you're one of those weirdos who attaches meaning to a musician's autograph or a slice of extremely awkward conversation.

Edit: The band and the music they create should be treated as different entities. For example, I think Maynard's a total fuckstick, and A Perfect Circle was for the most part a big, big mistake (thanks for raping some great songs on emotive buddy!), but I still love Tool's music.

I know i'll be showing poor taste in music, but I'll use Blink 182 as an example. Hey, I was 18.

The cheapest I ever saw a Blink show was for $8. Normally I'd pay anywhere between $8 and $12 to see em (yes, I've seen them a lot) Once Enema Of The State was released though it all went downhill. It was like everything I liked the band for was over. Blink was just this funny quirky pop punk band before making dick and fart jokes and shit and that was all good. Then they tried to go all serious and shit. See, if they just went serious (even though they had The Aquabats old drummer Travis AKA Baron Von Tito) that would be fine, but they tried to mix the two and it just sucked ass. Enema wasn't so bad, but all of a sudden ticket prices were through the roof so I washed my hands of them and haven't seen em since. I think the most I ever paid to see em was $15 and that was because they were on the Sno-Core tour with Primus, Long Beach Dub All-Stars and The Aquabats.

Enema wasn't a fluke either, they just got shittier and shittier untill they broke up. A horse that needed to die
