Do Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio, & Gunvalkyrie deserve a 2nd chance on Wii?

With the incredible reception of Resident Evil 4 on Wii, it seems like the game was given a new life for relatively cheap.

It seems like Sega could really breathe life into some of their old XBox games by putting them in a system with such a large audience and with so much buzz. It seems like anything that is released on Wii is getting a lot of attention.

I really hope Sega considers putting these games on Wii even if they disbanded their teams. Doesn't seem like ports would be too expensive considering the Wii has about the same power as the XBox, and maybe they can make Gunvalkyrie work with waggle somehow (though they should include classic and GCN control support like RE4)

Maybe they could find a way to fix Gunvalykyrie's controls.

PDO should be played by as many humans as possible, so port it to everything as far as I'm concerned.

I'd be curious to see if the Wii could even handle those impressive looking, 60 fps games. :D

GunVlakyrie with capable controls would be a thoroughly mediocre and generic game

Orta never clicked with me, of SEGA's Panzer-style games that gen, Rez was my favorite. I think it would do great, though.

Jet Grind Radio could use as much loving as possible :(

What's ironic is that if those games came out now on the 360 (with 360-level graphics), they'd all sell 500,000+.

I still can't believe how bad software sales were on the Xbox vs. the 360.

It'd be better if they got a second chance with next-gen sequels on the 360.

Jet Set Radio already got it's "next-gen" sequel as Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox, and it sold even less copies (at the same time it sold more if you count the Sega GT bundle)...

Considering that many has always wondered about Jet Set Radio being more "appreciated" in Nintendo consoles, Sega hasn't listened to those magazines and websites and people...yet.

Wait, what?

"Wait, what?"

He's referring to 360's nutso software sales.

Panzer Dragoon has always been a benchmark (visually) setting game. A sequel would need to be on 360/PS3, for sure.

Preferably PC

Look at all the million sellers on the 360 and tell me Orta and Gun Valkyrie 360 wouldn't break 500k if their graphics were as good compared to the average 360 game as Orta and Valkyrie's were compared to the average Xbox game in 2002.

Jet Set Radio Future maybe not.

But that game sucked. They completely killed it by removing the button for grinding and taking out the joystick inputs for graffitti. I couldn't believe it when I started playing and realized there was auto-grind. Lame.

I know that gunvalkyrie was supposed to be played with a light gun and a pad, but the game as it turned out on the Xbox (using both sticks and their hidden buttons) would not translate well on Wii.
PDZ would be interesting, though. And with a clever use of the wiimote to draw graffitis, JSR could be fun.

I'm all for ragging on JSRF, but auto-grinding was in JSR, too.

"Tre, 360 has amazing sales, but I really don't think that any of the games as mentioned would have sold any better. :P"

I dunno, if Lost Planet could sell well, I don't see why Gun Valkyrie wouldn't (people's issues with the controls aside), JSR as well.

That's not a valid excuse the games sold like crap on xbox why should sega bother with the 360? Tekno is correct about the grinding comment.

I disagree, it has obvious hardcore leanings and the 360 audience has been relatively open to different genres when it comes to software. Crackdown, Gears, Chromehounds, Oblivion - seems to me there is room for a magical dragon romp to sell well.

Sega should stick to putting Sonic and other platformers (like Nights) on the Wii. These other games belong on either the 360 or PS3.

Well, I'd like sequels to them no doubt (never even played JSRF but played the heck out of Jet Grind Radio and it's my favorite Dreamcast game by far)...

but my point was, how about giving some games a 2nd chance... NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, etc... are all having a little comeback on the Virtual Console and with word of mouth, hopefully new people will get to enjoy them...

I want games like these Sega bombs to get another shot at an audience, and that goes for stuff like Okami and Killer 7.

Taking that further, I'd really like to see Pikmin 1/2 and Metroid Prime 1/2 get another shot, but that's a little different since you can still find these in used-game shops...

Tre, I love those games too (asides from the disappointment of JSRF, but hey the OST is great!), but really, you can't believe they'd sell better on 360.

Didn't you have to hit A in order to grind, or was that only to do tricks and wall-ride?

It's been forever since I played it. I seem to remember hitting a button just as I hit rails.

Umm no. PDO is a perfect fit for Wii considering it's a shooter type and it's not JSR needs much when it comes to grahics considering it's cel shaded and never was huge pusher when it comes to visual. Sega should avoid ms platforms they were worst performing of the three last time and I doubt things are going to change.

Why not just go buy the games off Ebay and play them on an Xbox instead of sitting around and hoping?
I doubt Sega would lift a finger to improve the visuals much if they ever came to the Wii,weren't some of the games like Orta already in 720p? Wii doesn't even offer that. It makes more sense to pick them up cheap for an Xbox.

Correct. With a large amount of marketing of course any game will sell better. Orta might be a bit esoteric to sell the the 360 fanbase however. JSR less so but its not the stereotypical game and the closest thing to compare it to is Tony Hawk. Which isn't eactly a series you want to be competing against when your only advantage is creativity.

Well, I've yet to see too many 3rd party games sell particularly well (in the US) on Wii. Sure, the actual console is selling like gangbusters but...
